- 6. A water filtration assembly as in claim 3, wherein said inner housing is selectively removable from said outer housing.
- 7. A water filtration assembly as in claim 3, wherein said filter housing is seated in said lower end portion of said outer housing.
- 8. A water filtration assembly as in claim 3, wherein said filter housing occupies about 20% of a volume of said first housing.
- 9. A water filtration assembly as in claim 1, wherein said filter housing is laterally displaceable relative to said first housing.
- 10. A water filtration assembly as in claim 1, further comprising a pour spout housing for selective flow communication with said outlet port of said filter housing.
- 11. A water filtration assembly as in claim 10, further comprising first and second ribs provided on an inner wall of said first housing for defining a pour spout section for receiving said pour spout housing, said pour spout housing having a bottom inlet opening and a top outlet opening.
- 12. A water filtration assembly as in claim 1, wherein said first housing comprises a substantially liquid impermeable housing having bottom and side walls, a filter housing receiving section being defined in said first housing, adjacent said raw water reservoir, said filter housing being selectively axially displaceable into and out of said filter housing receiving region.
- 13. A water filtration assembly as in claim 12, further comprising first and second rib elements in said first housing for defining said filter housing receiving region.
- 14. A water filtration assembly as in claim 12, wherein said inlet port of said filter housing is defined in a bottom end wall thereof and said outlet is defined at an upper end thereof.
- 15. A water filtration assembly as in claim 14, further comprising a check valve for selectively closing said inlet port of said filter housing.
- 16. A water filtration assembly as in claim 15, further comprising a spacer component for spacing said bottom end wall of said filter housing from said bottom wall of said first housing.
- 17. A water filtration assembly as in claim 16, wherein said spacer comprises a spring element which urges said filter housing upwardly relative to said bottom wall of said first housing.
- 18. A water filtration assembly as in claim 1, wherein said closure structure comprises a semi-fixed portion and a hinged portion movable between open and closed positions selectively providing access to said raw water inlet opening.
- 19. A water filtration assembly as in claim 1, wherein said treatment media comprises a composite structure of carbon and a polyester substrate carrier in one of sponge and fiber form, compressed to form a treatment zone whereby contaminate molecules suspended in water contained in the treatment zone are within about 1.5 mm of said carbon.
- 20. A water filtration assembly as in claim 1, wherein said treatment media comprises a static treatment media, said filter housing holds between about 8 and 24 ounces of water, and said treatment media removes at least about 70 to 90% of chlorine and at least about 90% of lead present in the untreated water within about 0.1 to 5 minutes of filling of said filter housing; and wherein said chlorine and lead are removed within about 0.1 to 2 minutes of initial filling.
