Claims
- 1. A display unit comprising:
- a) a base assembly including a top portion and a bottom portion, the top portion being provided with an aperture through a wall thereof;
- b) a support rod including an end inserted through the aperture;
- c) a washer means carried by the end of the rod and disposed in abutting engagement against the wall to limit the degree of insertion of the end of the rod through the aperture;
- d) cooperating means for securing the end of the rod to the base assembly and positioning the rod to extend outwardly from the wall of the top portion; and
- e) means in frictional engagement with the rod for mounting an ornament in a desired position on the rod.
- 2. The display unit of claim 1 wherein the end of the rod includes a reduced diameter section defining a transverse annular wall section and the washer means includes a washer member provided with a central passage sized for receiving the reduced diameter section therethrough.
- 3. The display unit of claim 1 wherein the end of the rod is threaded and the cooperating means for securing the end of the rod to the base assembly includes a corresponding threaded engagement means.
- 4. The display unit of claim 1 wherein the mounting means includes a resilient grommet having a central passage through which the rod is slidably received, and the central passage being sized to provide frictional engagement between the grommet and the rod.
- 5. The display unit of claim 4 wherein the grommet further includes an annular groove for engaging the periphery of a correspondingly sized aperture formed in the wall of a hollow ornament.
- 6. A display unit comprising:
- a) a base assembly including a top portion and bottom portion, the top portion being provided with an aperture through a wall thereof;
- b) a support rod including an end inserted through the aperture, the end having a reduced diameter section defining a transverse annular wall section and a threaded portion;
- c) a washer member carried by the reduced diameter section of the rod and disposed in abutting engagement against both the annular wall section and the wall of the top portion to limit the degree of insertion of the rod through the aperture;
- d) cooperating threaded means for securing the threaded portion of the rod to the base assembly and positioning the rod to extend outwardly from the wall of the top portion thereof; and
- e) means in frictional engagement with the support rod for mounting an ornament in a desired position on the rod.
