Claims
- 1. A method of steam sterilizing objects in a sealable sterilization chamber, comprising: providing a steam sterilizer cycle having at least one presterilization vacuum pulse, wherein said steam sterilizing cycle comprises
- a first charge phase wherein steam is introduced into a chamber until a predetermined elevated temperature is reached and a drain in said chamber is closed;
- a dwell phase wherein said predetermined elevated temperature is maintained at a substantially constant level;
- a vacuum pulse wherein said drain is opened and steam is not introduced;
- a second charge phase;
- a sterilization phase;
- a vacuum pulse; and
- a drying phase.
- 2. The cycle recited in claim 1 further comprising, prior to the first charge phase, a start up charge of steam wherein steam is introduced into said chamber while said drain is open followed by an initial vacuum pulse wherein said drain remains open and steam is not introduced into said chamber.
