Claims
- 1. A method for desiliconizing, dephosphorizing and decarburizing molten pig iron, which comprises subjecting molten pig iron from a blast furnace to the following separate and sequential steps:
- (a) desiliconizing molten pig iron to an Si content of 0.20% or less;
- (b) dephosphorizing said desiliconized molten pig iron to a P content of 0.040% or less in a vessel while forming a dephosphorization slag and a body of dephosphorized molten pig iron;
- (c) withdrawing said dephosphorized molten pig iron from said vessel, whereby dephosphorization slag remains in said vessel; and
- (d) adding new molten pig iron from a blast furnace to said vessel containing said dephosphorization slag, said molten pig iron containing an oxidizer for desiliconization prior to entering said vessel containing said dephosphorization slag.
