Claims
- 1. A stenoprophiluric media comprising at least one bio-limiting agent.
- 2. The media of claim 1 wherein the bio-limiting agent is a metal or organic toxin.
- 3. The media of claim 1 wherein the bio-limiting agent includes a tin, copper, or nickel metal, alloy or organic complex.
- 4. The media of claim 1 wherein the bio-limiting agent is a copper or copper alloy particle.
- 5. The media of claim 1 wherein the media is formed from a polymer, composite or amalgam.
- 6. The media of claim 6 wherein the polymer is a thermoplastic or thermosetting polymer.
- 7. The media of claim 6 wherein the polymer is an epoxy, a polyester, a aminoplast resin, phenolic resin, an acrylic resin, a silicone resin, a silicone jelly, or a laquer or a polyurethane resin.
- 8. The media of claim 6 wherein the media is an amalgam of naturally occurring tars and resins.
- 9. The media of claim 6 wherein the media is a composite.
- 10. An media comprising a stenoprophiluric media comprising a biolimiting agent wherein the media is derived from an epoxy resin, a polyester resin, a polyurethane resin, or an aminoplast resin.
- 11. The media of claim 10 wherein the biolimiting agent is a tin, copper, or nickel metal, alloy or organic complex thereof.
- 12. The media of claim 10 wherein the media further comprises a nutritional source.
- 13. The media of claim 10 wherein the media is derived from polyepoxide or polyurethane.
- 14. The media of claim 10 wherein the polymer is a crosslinked polyepoxide prepared from an epoxy resin and a polyamine crosslinking agent.
- 15. An article comprising a substrate adhered to the media of claim 1
- 16. The article of claim 15 wherein the substrate is a metal, wood, concrete, or fiberglass.
- 17. The article of claim 15 wherein the media is adhered to the substrate by one or more intermediate polymer layers.
- 18. An article comprising an substrate which is prone to biodegredation and corrosion adhered to a stenoprophiluric media having a biolimiting agent, wherein the surface of the media has a biofilm sustained thereon.
- 19. A method of preventing fouling comprising the steps of providing a stenoprophiluric media having a bio-limiting agent, applying the coating to a substrate, and allowing a biomass to form on the bio-supportive matrix.
