Claims
- 1. A compound having the formula:
- 2. The compound of claim 1, wherein R1 and R2 are both hydrogen and the bond between X and Y is double.
- 3. The compound of claim 2, wherein R4 is H and R5 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and methyl, ethyl, propyl, isopropyl, isobutyl, tert-butyl, sec-butyl, isopentyl, hexyl and ethoxy groups.
- 4. The compound of claim 2, wherein R4 is an ethyl group and R5 is selected from the group consisting of ethyl and isopropyl groups.
- 5. The compound of claim 2, wherein R4 is methyl and R5 is propyl.
- 6. The compound of claim 2, wherein R4 and R5 are both methyl groups, both propyl groups or both isopropyl groups.
- 7. The compound of claim 1, wherein R1 and R2 are both hydrogen and the bond between X and Y is single.
- 8. The compound of claim 7, wherein R4 is H and R5 is selected from the group consisting of methyl, ethyl, propyl, isopropyl, isobutyl and tert-butyl groups.
- 9. The compound of claim 7, wherein R4 is a methyl group and R5 is a propyl group.
- 10. A method of treating a patient for an estrogen dependent illness comprising administering to said patient an effective amount of a compound having the formula:
- 11. The method of claim 10, wherein R1 and R2 are both hydrogen and the bond between X and Y is double.
- 12. The method of claim 11, wherein R4 is H and R5 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and methyl, ethyl, propyl, isopropyl, isobutyl, tert-butyl, sec-butyl, isopentyl, hexyl and ethoxy groups.
- 13. The method of claim 11, wherein R4 is an ethyl group and R5 is selected from the group consisting of ethyl and isopropyl groups.
- 14. The method of claim 11, wherein R4 is methyl and R5 is methyl or propyl.
- 15. The method of claim 11, wherein R4 and R5 are both methyl groups, both propyl groups or both isopropyl groups.
- 16. The method of claim 10, wherein R1 and R2 are both hydrogen and the bond between X and Y is single.
- 17. The method of claim 16, wherein R4 is H and R5 is selected from the group consisting of methyl, ethyl, propyl, isopropyl, isobutyl and tert-butyl groups.
- 18. The method of claim 16, wherein R4 is a methyl group and R5 is a propyl group.
- 19. The method of claim 10, wherein said compound is contained within a suitable pharmaceutical carrier.
- 20. The method of claim 10, wherein said administration is oral.
- 21. The method of claim 10, wherein said effective amount is either a therapeutically effective amount, or a prophylactically effective amount.
- 22. A compound having the formula
- 23. A compound of claim 22, wherein R9 is COCH2CH2CH3.
- 24. A method of treating a patient for an estrogen dependent illness comprising administering to said patient an effective amount of a compound having the formula:
- 25. The method of claim 24, wherein said compound is contained within a suitable pharmaceutical carrier.
- 26. The method of claim 24, wherein said administration is oral.
- 27. The method of claim 24, wherein said effective amount is either a therapeutically effective amount, or a prophylactically effective amount.
- 28. A method of claim 24, wherein R9 is COCH2CH2CH3.
