Claims
- 1. A method comprising:
addressing a storage device coupled to a central processing unit through a controller and a register device, wherein the controller is coupled to the central processing unit through a system bus and the register device is coupled between the central processing unit and the controller; calculating a block count and a program device; calculating a logical block address and the program device; programming up a direct memory access descriptor table content; programming a command register; programming a direct memory access engine; and waiting for an interrupt signal from the storage device.
- 2. The method of claim 1, wherein calculating a block count and a program device includes writing a block length to a memory queue.
- 3. The method of claim 1 wherein calculating a logical block address and the program device includes writing at least one register field to a memory queue.
- 4. The method of claim 1 wherein programming the command register includes one of reading and writing to a memory queue.
- 5. A readable storage medium containing executable instructions which, when executed, causes a platform to perform a method comprising:
addressing a storage device coupled to a central processing unit through a controller and a register device, wherein the controller is coupled to the central processing unit through a system bus and the register device is coupled between the central processing unit and the controller; calculating a block count and a program device; calculating a logical block address and the program device; programming up a direct memory access descriptor table content; programming a command register; programming a direct memory access (DMA) engine; and waiting for an interrupt signal from the storage device.
- 6. The readable storage medium of claim 5 wherein calculating a block count and a program device includes writing a block length to a memory queue.
- 7. The readable storage medium of claim 5 wherein calculating a logical block address and the program device includes writing at least one register field to a memory queue.
- 8. The readable storage medium of claim 5 wherein programming the command register includes one of reading and writing to a memory queue.
