Claims
- 1. Apparatus for detaching strip material from a wound coil construct of sheet metal web material having a plurality of laterally spaced, longitudinally extending parting lines defining a plurality of laterally spaced coil strips, said strips being frangibly interconnected in side-by-side relation by intermittently spaced tabs bridging the parting line between adjacent strips, comprising:
- (a) a rotary turntable for supporting a construct in substantial coaxial relation therewith;
- (b) means for rotating said turntable in a direction to effect unwinding of a strip from said construct;
- (c) a stationary post spaced from said turntable and extending substantially parallel to the axis thereof;
- (d) arm means pivotally connected to said post;
- (e) said arm means attaching a finger-like body for interposition between the outermost wrap of the construct strip to be detached and the next adjacent wrap, said body extending transversely of said strip to be detached and having its leading end positioned short of the affected parting line; and
- (f) a snubber roll rotatably attached on said arm means in leading relation to said body for bearing against the exterior surface of said strip.
- 2. Apparatus as recited in claim 1 including constant pressure urging means fixed with respect to said base and operatively connected to said arm for urging the same against said construct.
- 3. Apparatus as recited in claim 2 in which said arm means include:
- (a) a pair of hingedly connected links;
- (b) one of said links at its free end attaching said body; and
- (c) the other of said links rotatably attaching said snubber roll for bearing against the exterior surface of said strip.
