Claims
- 1. In the stripping of aluminide diffusion cases from a superalloy surface by treatment with an aqueous solution of fluoride-containing nitric acid, the improvement according to which that treatment is followed by treatment with a bath consisting essentially of aqueous fluoride-free nitric acid and having a concentration between about 10 and about 30% by weight, for at least about 5 minutes.
- 2. The combination of claim 1 in which the aqueous essentially fluoride-free acid is at a temperature of about 80.degree. to about 110.degree. F.
- 3. The combination of claim 1 in which the stripping is effected by repeated alternating treatment with the fluoride-containing and fluoride-free nitric acids.
