Claims
- 1. A sub-miniature electrical fuse comprising an assembly of an inner tube telescoped within an outer tube, the inner tube and the outer tube each being made of glass and having axial ends, and electrical conductor means metallized on an axially-extending outer surface of the inner tube, the electrical conductor means including a fusible link.
- 2. The fuse of claim 1 wherein the inner tube and the outer tube are formed of glass having a softening point greater than 700.degree. C.
- 3. The fuse of claim 2 wherein the inner tube and the outer tube have substantially the same axial length.
- 4. The fuse of claim 1 wherein the conductor means is a strip extending axially of the inner tube.
- 5. An electrical fuse comprising a glass substrate having a surface which is generally flat in at least one dimension, elongate electrical conductor means metallized on the flat surface of the glass substrate, and a glass cover spaced above the conductor means on the substrate, the electrical conductor means including a fusible link.
- 6. The fuse of claim 5 wherein the substrate and the cover are formed of glass having a softening point greater than 700.degree. C.
- 7. The fuse of claim 5 wherein the substrate includes two opposed end surfaces substantially perpendicular to the flat surface, the conductor means extending across both the end surfaces of the substrate.
- 8. The fuse of claim 7 wherein the conductor means is a strip extending lengthwise of the glass substrate.
- 9. The fuse of claim 5 wherein the glass substrate and the glass cover have substantially the same length.
- 10. An electrical component comprising a glass substrate having a surface which is generally flat in at least one dimension, elongate electrical conductor means metallized on the flat surface of the glass substrate, the glass substrate having two opposed end surfaces, the electrical conductor means extending from one end to the other end of the glass substrate and being metallized on both the end surfaces of the substrate, and a glass cover spaced above the conductor means on the flat surface of the substrate.
- 11. The component of claim 10 wherein the glass substrate is a tube, the conductor means extending axially of the tube.
- 12. The component of claim 9 wherein the two opposed end surfaces are substantially perpendicular to the flat surface.
- 13. The component of claim 11 wherein the conductor means is a strip.
- 14. The component of claim 10 wherein the two opposed end surfaces are substantially perpendicular to the flat surface.
- 15. The component of claim 10 wherein the conductor means is a strip extending lengthwise of the glass substrate.
- 16. The component of claim 10 wherein the glass substrate and the glass cover have substantially the same length.
- 17. The component of claim 10 wherein the substrate and the cover are formed of glass having a softening point greater than 700.degree. C.
