Claims
- 1. An electrical component comprising a dielectric glass tube having an axis of symmetry, the tube having two axial ends and an outer axial surface between the ends, electrical conductor means metallized on the outer surface of the tube, a first portion of the conductor means extending across a first axial end of the tube and a second portion of the conductor means extending across a second axial end of the tube, a glass sleeve surrounding the dielectric tube, and an elongate lead attached to the first axial end of the tube at right angles to the axis of the tube.
- 2. The component of claim 1 wherein the component is an overcurrent protective fuse, the electrical conductor comprising fusible link means responding to overcurrent conditions to break electrical continuity between the ends of the tube.
- 3. The fuse of claim 50 wherein the conductor means includes a metallized layer bonded to each axial end of the tube and the sleeve.
- 4. The fuse of claim 3 wherein the tube, sleeve, and a portion of the lead are encased in plastic.
- 5. The fuse of claim 2 wherein elongate leads are attached at both axial ends of the tube at right angles to the axis of the tube.
- 6. The fuse of claim 2 wherein the lead is held to the metallized first end by solder.
- 7. The fuse of claim 2 wherein the tube is hollow.
- 8. The component of claim 1 wherein elongate leads are attached at both axial ends of the tube at right angles to the axis of the tube.
- 9. The component of claim 1 wherein the conductor means includes a metallized layer bonded to each axial end of the tube and the sleeve.
- 10. The component of claim 9 wherein the tube, sleeve, and a portion of the lead are encased in plastic.
- 11. The component of claim 1 wherein the lead is held to the metallized first end by solder.
