Claims
- 1. A compound of formula ##STR22## wherein n is zero
- R is hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkyl, unsubstituted or substituted by a C.sub.2 -C.sub.5 alkanoyloxy or by a ##STR23## group, wherein each of R.sub.4 and R.sub.5 is independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and C.sub.1 -C.sub.10 alkyl;
- R.sub.1 is C.sub.2 -C.sub.4 alkyl or C.sub.3 -C.sub.4 alkenyl;
- R.sub.2 is hydrogen or methyl;
- R.sub.3 is unsubstituted furyl
- W is >C.dbd.O or >C.dbd.S, and a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
- 2. A compound of formula ##STR24## wherein R is hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkyl, unsubstituted or substituted by a C.sub.2 -C.sub.5 alkanoyloxy or by a ##STR25## group, wherein each of R.sub.4 and R.sub.5 is independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and C.sub.1 -C.sub.10 alkyl;
- R.sub.1 is C.sub.2 -C.sub.4 alkyl;
- R.sub.2 is hydrogen or methyl;
- R.sub.3 is unsubstituted furyl
- W is >C.dbd.O or >C.dbd.S, and a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
- 3. A compound of formula ##STR26## wherein R is hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkyl, unsubstituted or substituted by a C.sub.2 -C.sub.5 alkanoyloxy or by a ##STR27## group, wherein each of R.sub.4 and R.sub.5 is independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and C.sub.1 -C.sub.10 alkyl;
- R.sub.1 is C.sub.3 -C.sub.4 alkenyl;
- R.sub.2 is hydrogen or methyl;
- R.sub.3 is unsubstituted furyl
- W is >C.dbd.O or >C.dbd.S, and a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
- 4. A compound of formula ##STR28## wherein n is zero
- R is hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl;
- R.sub.1 is ethyl, propyl or allyl;
- R.sub.2 is hydrogen or methyl;
- R.sub.3 is unsubstituted 2-furyl
- and wherein the vinyl moiety has the trans-configuration, and a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
- 5. 6-carboxy-3-propyl-2-trans-[.beta.-(2'-furyl)-vinyl]-chromone.
- 6. A pharmaceutical composition suitable for the treatment of allergies, said composition comprising an effective amount of a compound of claim 1, and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier and/or diluent.
- 7. A method of treating allergic conditions in a patient in need of such treatment, said method comprising administering to said patient a therapeutically effective amount of a compound of claim 1.
- 8. Method of claim 7, wherein said compound is administered orally.
