Claims
- 1. A pyridinesulfonamide compound or its salt represented by the following formula (I): ##STR34## wherein A is CH; R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are each independently a member selected from the group consisting of C.sub.1-6 alkyl groups which are optionally substituted with one or more substituents selected from the group consisting of halogen atoms and C.sub.1-6 alkoxy groups, C.sub.2-6 alkenyl groups which are optionally substituted with one or more substituents selected from the group consisting of halogen atoms and C.sub.1-6 alkoxy groups, C.sub.3-6 cycloalkyl groups which are optionally substituted with one or more substituents selected from the group consisting of halogen atoms, C.sub.1-6 alkyl groups and C.sub.1-6 alkoxy groups, and phenyl groups which are optionally substituted with one or more substituents selected from the group consisting of halogen atoms, C.sub.1-6 alkyl groups, C.sub.1-6 haloalkyl groups, and nitro groups; and X and Y are each independently a member selected from the group consisting of C.sub.1-6 alkyl groups and C.sub.1-6 alkoxy groups.
- 2. The compound or the salt thereof as in claim 1, wherein R.sub.1 and R2 are each independently a member selected from the group consisting of C.sub.1-6 alkyl groups which are optionally substituted with one or more substituents selected from the group consisting of halogen atoms and C.sub.1-6 alkoxy groups and C.sub.3-6 cycloalkyl groups which are optionally substituted with one or more substituents selected from the group consisting of halogen atoms, C.sub.1-6 alkyl groups and C.sub.1-6 alkoxy groups.
- 3. The compound or the salt thereof as in claim 1, wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are each independently a member selected from the group consisting of C.sub.1-6 alkyl groups, C.sub.1-6 haloalkyl groups, and C.sub.3-6 cycloalkyl groups.
- 4. The compound or the salt thereof as in claim 1, which is 6-[(N-ethyl-N-methylsulfonyl)amino]-N-[[(4,6-dimethoxypyrimidin-2-yl)amino]carbonyl]-2-pyridinesulfonamide.
- 5. The compound or the salt thereof as in claim 1, which is 6-[(N-ethyl-N-ethylsulfonyl)amino]-N-[[(4,6-dimethoxypyrimidin-2-yl)amino]carbonyl]-2pyridinesulfonamide.
- 6. The compound or the salt thereof as in claim 1, which is 6-[(N-ethyl-N-isopropylsulfonyl)amino]-N-[[(4,6-dimethoxypyrimidin-2-yl)amino]carbonyl]-2-pyridinesulfonamide.
- 7. A herbicidal composition containing as the effective ingredient a pyridinesulfonamide compound or its salt represented by the following formula (I), and an inert carrier: ##STR35## wherein A is CH; R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are each independently a member selected from the group consisting of C.sub.1-6 alkyl groups which are optionally substituted with one or more substituents selected from the group consisting of halogen atoms and C.sub.1-6 alkoxy groups, C.sub.2-6 alkenyl groups which are optionally substituted with one or more substituents selected from the group consisting of halogen atoms and C.sub.1-6 alkoxy groups, C.sub.3-6 cycloalkyl groups which are optionally substituted with one or more substituents selected from the group consisting of halogen atoms, C.sub.1-6 alkyl groups and C.sub.1-6 alkoxy groups, and phenyl groups which are optionally substituted with one or more substituents selected from the group consisting of halogen atoms, C.sub.1-6 alkyl groups, C.sub.1-6 haloalkyl groups, and nitro groups; and X and Y are each independently a member selected from the group consisting of C.sub.1-6 alkyl groups and C.sub.1-6 alkoxy groups.
- 8. The herbicidal composition as in claim 7, wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are each independently a member selected from the group consisting of C.sub.1-6 alkyl groups which are optionally substituted with one or more substituents selected from the group consisting of halogen atoms and C.sub.1-6 alkoxy groups, and C.sub.1-6 cycloalkyl groups which are optionally substituted with one or more substituents selected from the group consisting of halogen atoms, C.sub.1-6 alkyl groups and C.sub.1-6 alkoxy groups.
- 9. The herbicidal composition as in claim 7, wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are each independently a member selected from the group consisting of C.sub.1-6 alkyl groups, C.sub.1-6 haloalkyl groups, and C.sub.3-6 cycloalkyl groups.
- 10. The herbicidal composition as in claim 7, wherein said effective ingredient is 6-[(N-ethyl-N-methylsulfonyl)amino]-N-[[(4,6-dimethoxypyrimidin-2-yl)-amino]carbonyl]-2-pyridinesulfonamide.
- 11. The herbicidal composition as in claim 7, wherein said effective ingredient is 6-[(N-ethyl-N-ethylsulfonyl)amino]-N-[[(4,6-dimethoxypyrimidin-2-yl)-amino]carbonyl]-2-pyridinesulfonamide.
- 12. The herbicidal as in claim 7, wherein said effective ingredient is 6-[(N-ethyl-N-isopropylsulfonyl)amino]-N-[[(4,6-dimethoxypyrimidin-2-yl)amino]carbonyl]-2-pyridinesulfonamide.
- 13. A herbicidal method which comprises applying to plants a herbicidally effective amount of a pyridinesulfonamide compound or its salt represented by the following formula (I): ##STR36## wherein A is CH; R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are each independently a member selected from the group consisting of C.sub.1-6 alkyl groups which are optionally substituted with one or more substituents selected from the group consisting of halogen atoms and C.sub.1-6 alkoxy groups, C.sub.2-6 alkenyl groups which are optionally substituted with one or more substituents selected from the group consisting of halogen atoms and C.sub.1-6 alkoxy groups, C.sub.3-6 cycloalkyl groups which are optionally substituted with one or more substituents selected from the group consisting of halogen atoms, C.sub.1-6 alkyl groups and C.sub.1-6 alkoxy groups, and phenyl groups which are optionally substituted with one or more substituents selected from the group consisting of halogen atoms, C.sub.1-6 alkyl groups, C.sub.1-6 haloalky groups, and nitro groups; and X and Y are each independently a member selected from the group consisting of C.sub.1-6 alkyl groups and C.sub.1-6 alkoxy groups.
