Claims
- 1. A composition for protecting cereal plants against the action of a herbicide selected from the group consisting of herbicidal 1,3,5-triazines, halogenoacetanilides, substituted phenoxyphenoxyacetic acid esters and -propionic acid esters, and substituted pyridineoxy-phenoxy-acetic acid esters and -propionic acid esters derivatives, which comprises a compound of the formula: ##STR84## wherein each of R.sub.1 and R.sub.2, independently of the other, is hydrogen, halo or alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, and Q is --CH.sub.2 CONH.sub.2 or --CONH--alkyl in which alkyl has from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, in an amount sufficient to afford protection to the cereal plant against the herbicidal effects of said herbicide and a carrier therefor.
- 2. The composition according to claim 1 wherein said compound is of the formula: ##STR85## wherein R.sub.1 is hydrogen, chloro, methyl or ethyl and Q is --CH.sub.2 CONH.sub.2 or --CONHCH.sub.3.
- 3. The composition according to claim 2 wherein said compound is of the formula: ##STR86##
- 4. The composition according to claim 2 wherein said compound is of the formula: ##STR87##
- 5. The composition according to claim 2 wherein said compound is of the formula: ##STR88##
- 6. The composition according to claim 2 wherein said compound is of the formula: ##STR89##
- 7. In the method of combating weed growth in a cereal crop through the application of a herbicide selected from the group consisting of herbicidal 1,3,5-triazines, halogenoacetanilides, substituted phenoxyphenoxyacetic acid esters and -propionic acid esters, and substituted pyridineoxyphenoxy-acetic acid esters and -propionic acid esters derivatives, the improvement which comprises applying to said crop, to the seed or seedling from which said crop is grown, or to the habitat of the crop's growth, a compound of the formula: ##STR90## wherein each of R.sub.1 and R.sub.2, independently of the other, is hydrogen, halo or alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, and Q is --CH.sub.2 CONH.sub.2 or --CONH--alkyl in which alkyl has from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, in a quantity sufficient to afford protection to the crop against the effects of said herbicide.
- 8. The method according to claim 7 wherein said compound is of the formula: ##STR91## wherein R.sub.1 is hydrogen, chloro, methyl or ethyl and
- Q is --CH.sub.2 CONH.sub.2 or --CONHCH.sub.3.
- 9. The method according to claim 8 wherein said compound is of the formula: ##STR92##
- 10. The method according to claim 8 wherein said compound is of the formula: ##STR93##
- 11. The method according to claim 8 wherein said compound is of the formula: ##STR94##
- 12. The method according to claim 8 wherein said compound is of the formula: ##STR95##
- 13. The improvement of claim 7 in which the herbicide is a substituted phenoxyphenoxypropionic acid ester.
- 14. The improvement of claim 13 in which the herbicide is .alpha.-[4-(p-trifluoromethylphenoxy)-phenoxy]-propionic acid n-butoxyethyl ester.
- 15. The improvement of claim 7 in which the herbicide is a halogenoacetanilide.
- 16. The improvement of claim 15 in which the herbicide is N-(1-methyl-2-methoxyethyl)-N-chloroacetyl-2-ethyl-6-methylaniline.
- 17. The improvement of claim 7 in which the herbicide is a 1,3,5-triazine.
- 18. The improvement of claim 17 in which the herbicide is 2,4-bis(isopropylamino)-6-methylthio-s-triazine.
- 19. The improvement of claim 17 in which the herbicide is 4-ethylamino-6-tert.butylamino-2-chloro-5-triazine.
- 20. The improvement of claim 17 in which the herbicide is 2-ethylamino-4-isopropylamino-6-methylthio-s-triazine.
- 21. The improvement of claim 17 in which the herbicide is 2-ethylamino-4-(1,2-dimethyl-n-propylamino)-6-methylthio-s-triazine.
- 22. The improvement of claim 7 in which the herbicide is a substituted pyridineoxyphenoxypropionic acid ester.
- 23. The improvement of claim 7 in which the herbicide is .alpha.-[4-(3,5-dichloropyridyl-2-oxy)-phenoxyl]-propionic acid propargylthiol ester.
- 24. The method of selectively controlling weed growth in a cereal crop which comprises applying an effective amount of a herbicide selected from the group consisting of herbicidal 1,3,5-triazines, halogenoacetanilides, substituted phenoxyphenoxyacetic acid esters and -propionic acid esters, and substituted pyridineoxyphenoxy-acetic acid esters and -propionic acid esters derivatives, to a cereal crop grown from seed or seedling which has been treated with a quantity of a compound of the formula: ##STR96## wherein each of R.sub.1 and R.sub.2, independently of the other, is hydrogen, halo or alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, and Q is --CH.sub.2 CONH.sub.2 or --CONH-alkyl in which alkyl has from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, sufficient to afford protection to the crop against the effects of said herbicide.
- 25. The method according to claim 24 wherein said compound is of the formula: ##STR97## wherein R.sub.1 is hydrogen, chloro, methyl or ethyl and
- Q is --CH.sub.2 CONH.sub.2 or --CONHCH.sub.3.
- 26. The method according to claim 25 wherein said compound is of the formula: ##STR98##
- 27. The method according to claim 25 wherein said compound is of the formula: ##STR99##
- 28. The method according to claim 25 wherein said compound is of the formula: ##STR100##
- 29. The method according to claim 25 wherein said compound is of the formula: ##STR101##
- 30. A method according to claim 24 in which the herbicide is a substituted phenoxyphenoxypropionic acid ester.
- 31. A method according to claim 30 in which the herbicide is .alpha.-[4-(p-trifluoromethylphenoxy)-phenoxy]-propionic acid n-butoxyethyl ester.
- 32. A method according to claim 24 in which the herbicide is a halogenoacetanilide.
- 33. A method according to claim 32 in which the herbicide is N-(1-methyl-2-methoxyethyl)-N-chloroacetyl-2-ethyl-6-methylaniline.
- 34. A method according to claim 24 in which the herbicide is a 1,3,5-triazine.
- 35. A method according to claim 34 in which the herbicide is 2,4-bis(isopropylamino)-6-methylthio-s-triazine.
- 36. A method according to claim 34 in which the herbicide is 4-ethylamino-6-tert.butylamino-2-chloro-s-triazine.
- 37. A method according to claim 34 in which the herbicide is 2-ethylamino-4-isopropylamino-6-methylthio-s-triazine.
- 38. A method according to claim 34 in which the herbicide is 2-ethylamino-4-(1,2-dimethyl-n-propylamino)-6-methylthio-s-triazine.
- 39. A method according to claim 24 in which the herbicide is a substituted pyridineoxyphenoxyacetic acid ester.
- 40. A method according to claim 39 in which the herbicide is .alpha.-[4-(3,5-dichloropyridyl-2-oxy)-phenoxy]-propionic acid propargylthiol ester.
- 41. A herbicidal composition for controlling weeds in cereal crops comprising a herbicidally effective amount of a herbicide selected from the group consisting of herbicidal 1,3,5-triazines, halogenoacetanilides, substituted phenoxyphenoxyacetic acid esters and -propionic acid esters, and substituted pyridineoxyphenoxy-acetic acid esters and -propionic acid esters derivatives, and a quantity of a compound of the formula: ##STR102## wherein each of R.sub.1 and R.sub.2, independently of the other, is hydrogen, halo or alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, and Q is --CH.sub.2 CONH.sub.2 or --CONH--alkyl in which alkyl has from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, sufficient to afford protection to treated crops against the effects of said herbicide.
- 42. A composition according to claim 41 wherein said compound is of the formula: ##STR103## wherein R.sub.1 is hydrogen, chloro, methyl or ethyl and
- Q is --CH.sub.2 CONH.sub.2 or --CONHCH.sub.3.
- 43. A composition according to claim 42 wherein said compound is of the formula: ##STR104##
- 44. A composition according to claim 42 wherein said compound is of the formula: ##STR105##
- 45. A composition according to claim 42 wherein said compound is of the formula: ##STR106##
- 46. A composition according to claim 42 wherein said compound is of the formula: ##STR107##
- 47. A composition according to claim 41 in which the herbicide is a substituted pyridineoxyphenoxypropionic acid ester.
- 48. A composition according to claim 47 in which the herbicide is .alpha.-[4-(3,5-dichloropyridyl-2-oxy)-phenoxy]-propionic acid propargylthiol ester.
- 49. A composition according to claim 41 in which the herbicide is a 1,3,5-triazine.
- 50. A composition according to claim 49 in which the herbicide is 4-ethylamino-6-tert.butylamino-2-chloro-5-triazine.
- 51. A composition according to claim 49 in which the herbicide is 2,4-bis(isopropylamino)-6-methylthio-s-triazine.
- 52. A composition according to claim 41 in which the herbicide is a substituted phenoxyphenoxypropionic acid ester.
- 53. A composition according to claim 52 in which the herbicide is .alpha.-[4-(p-trifluoromethylphenoxy)-phenoxy]-propionic acid n-butoxyethyl ester.
- 54. A composition according to claim 41 in which the herbicide is a halogenoacetanilide.
- 55. Cereal seeds coated with a quantity of a compound of the formula: ##STR108## wherein each of R.sub.1 and R.sub.2, independently of the other, is hydrogen, halo or alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, and Q is --CH.sub.2 CONH.sub.2 or --CONH--alkyl in which alkyl has from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, sufficient to afford protection to the crop against the effects of a herbicide selected from the group consisting of herbicidal 1,3,5-triazines, halogenoacetanilides, substituted phenoxyphenoxyacetic acid esters and -propionic acid esters, and substituted pyridineoxyphenoxy-acetic acid esters and -propionic acid esters derivatives.
- 56. Cereal seeds coated according to claim 55 wherein said compound is of the formula: ##STR109## wherein R.sub.1 is hydrogen, chloro, methyl or ethyl and
- Q is --CH.sub.2 CONH.sub.2 or --CONHCH.sub.3.
- 57. Cereal seeds coated according to claim 56 wherein said compound is of the formula: ##STR110##
