Claims
- 1. A covered pan system comprising:
a food pan including:
a bottom panel; a plurality of walls extending upwardly from the bottom panel and joined to one another at a plurality of corners; a rim extending outwardly from the plurality of walls; and a lid configured to cover the food pan, the lid including:
a rim support portion having a plurality of linearly extending sides and a plurality of corners therebetween, the rim support portion being configured to rest upon the rim of the food pan; a central portion coupled to the rim support portion and recessed relative to the rim support portion; and at least one depression formed in the rim support portion in at least one of the plurality of corners.
- 2. The system of claim 1, wherein the depression has a bottom surface that slopes upwardly in a direction from proximate the central portion towards a top of the rim support portion.
- 3. The system of claim 1 including a first flange extending downward from the rim supporting portion.
- 4. The system of claim 3 including a second flange extending outward from the first flange.
- 5. The system of claim 1, wherein the lid is formed from at least one metal.
- 6. The system of claim 1, wherein the lid is formed from a single metallic panel having a substantial uniform thickness throughout.
- 7. The system of claim 1, wherein the lid includes a handle coupled to the lid.
- 8. The system of claim 7, wherein the handle is recessed in the central portion.
- 9. The system of claim 8, wherein the handle is coupled to the central portion.
- 10. The system of claim 1, wherein the at least one depression is formed in each corner of the rim support portion.
- 11. The system of claim 1, wherein the lid includes at least inwardly extending boss extending from the rim supporting portion into a recess extending above the central portion such that the recess has a footprint configured to receive the bottom panel of the food pan.
- 12. The system of claim 11, wherein the at least one boss includes a pair of opposite bosses.
- 13. A lid for use with a food pan having a bottom panel, a plurality of walls extending upwardly from the bottom panel and a rim extending outwardly from the plurality of walls, the lid comprising:
a rim support portion having a plurality of linearly extending sides and a plurality of corners therebetween, the rim support portion being configured to rest upon the rim of the food pan; a central portion coupled to the rim support portion and recessed relative to the rim support portion; and at least one depression formed in the rim support portion in at least one of the plurality of corners.
- 14. A lid for a food pan having a bottom panel, a plurality of walls extending upwardly from the bottom panel and a rim extending outwardly from the plurality of walls, the lid comprising a single metallic panel having four sides, four corners and a rim, the panel having a depression formed in the rim in each of the four corners.
- 15. The lid of claim 14 including means for locating the lid on the food pan.
- 16. The pan of claim 14 including means for locating the lid beneath the food pan.
- 17. A lid for use with a food pan having a bottom panel, a plurality of walls extending upwardly from the bottom panel and a rim extending outwardly from the plurality of walls, the lid comprising:
a substantially horizontal rectangular central portion extending in a first plane; a rim surrounding the central portion and including four corners, the rim including:
a first rim portion extending upward from the central portion; a second rim portion extending outward from the first rim portion in a second plane substantially parallel to the first plane; and a depression formed within the second rim portion in each of the four corners.
