Claims
- 1. A support apparatus for garden fencing, comprising:
- (a) an elongate shaft having a plurality of incrementally spaced apertures therethrough along the length of said shaft;
- (b) a U-shaped bridge member for securing a section of fence to said shaft; said bridge member having a pair of cylindrical pins and a closed portion therebetween; said pins being received within said apertures such that said section of fence is disposed between the closed portion of said bridge member and said shaft; said pins having holes therethrough for the purpose of preventing the displacement of said pins from said shaft; and
- (c) a clip for securing said bridge member to said shaft.
- 2. The support apparatus of claim 1, wherein said bridge member includes a handle to facilitate insertion and removal of said bridge member into and out of said shaft.
- 3. The support apparatus of claim 1, wherein said elongate shaft further comprises a head for the purpose of providing a larger striking surface to drive said shaft into the ground.
- 4. The support apparatus of claim 3, wherein said head has a plurality of elevated nubs on its top surface for the purpose of dampening vibration occurring upon striking of said head with a driving instrument.
- 5. The support apparatus of claim 3, wherein said head has a plurality of elevated nubs on its top surface for the purpose of providing a slip resistance for a driving instrument.
- 6. The support apparatus of claim 1, further comprising a fin extending perpendicularly from the base of said shaft for the purpose of limiting axial rotation of said shaft when inserted into the ground.
- 7. A support apparatus for garden fencing, comprising:
- (a) an elongate shaft having a plurality of incrementally spaced apertures therethrough along the length of said shaft;
- (b) a U-shaped bridge member for securing a section of fence to said shaft; said bridge member having a pair of cylindrical pins and a closed portion therebetween; said pins being adapted to be slidably received within said apertures such that said section of fence is disposed between the closed portion of said bridge member and said shaft; said pins having holes therethrough for the purpose of preventing the displacement of said pins from said shaft; and
- (c) a clip for securing said bridge member to said shaft; said clip being made from a single wire and having a straight portion which doubles back upon itself coming in contact with said straight portion and bends away from said straight portion forming an opening before coming barely in second contact with said straight portion to facilitate passage of said clip about the ends of said bridge member.
