Claims
- 1. A titanium fluoropolyether surface active agent selected from a monomeric form having the general formula
- AaTiB(4-a)
- where A is a fluoropolyether carboxy group, B is a hydrolyzable radical wherein neither HCl or HBr is generated by hydrolysis, and a is an integer from 1 to 3; and a polymeric form having the formula
- AaTiO(TiO)bTiB(4-a)
- wherein A, B and a have the meanings given above and b is an integer from 0 to 4.
- 2. Fluoropolyether surface treating agents according to claim 1, in which the hydrolyzable group B is an RO-- group in which R is alkyl of 1 to 8 carbon atoms, alkenyl, or an enolate form of .beta.-di-keto-compound or of .beta.-keto-ester.
- 3. Fluoropolyether surface treating agents according to claim 2, in which B is an enolate form of .beta.-di-keto compound or .beta.-keto-ester selected from the following groups: ##STR12## wherein Y is a methyl group or an alkoxy group of 1 to 4 carbon atoms.
- 4. Fluoropolyether surface treating agents according to claim 1 in which B is of the type --NR.sub.1 R.sub.2 in which R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 have the same meaning of R as already defined.
- 5. Fluoropolyether surface treating agents according to claim 1 in which A is a fluoropolyether having a carboxy group and having the following general repeating unit:
- (C.sub.n F.sub.2n O)
- wherein n ranges from 1 to 3.
- 6. Fluoropolyether surface treating agents according to claim 1, in which the fluoropolyether of group A has at least one of the following repeating units:
- (I) (CF.sub.2 CF.sub.2 O), and (CF.sub.2 O), each of said units being randomly distributed along the perfluoropolyether chain;
- (II) ##STR13## with X.dbd.F or CF.sub.3, each of said units being randomly distributed along the perfluoropolyether chain;
- (III) ##STR14## (IV) (CH.sub.2 CF.sub.2 CF.sub.2 O); (V) (CF.sub.2 CF.sub.2 CF.sub.2 O);
- (VI) --(--CF.sub.2 --CF.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 O).sub.p --R'.sub.f --O--(CH.sub.2 CF.sub.2 --CF.sub.2 --O).sub.q --
- wherein R'.sub.f is a fluoroalkylene group, p and q are integers of from 0 to 200, and p+q is at least 2;
- (VII) ##STR15## wherein R".sub.f is a fluoroalkylene group, n' is either 0 or 1, a and b are integers, and a+b is at least 2;
- (VIII) (CF.sub.2 CF.sub.2 O),
- (IX) ##STR16## wherein R.sub.f can be the same or different and are F or a perfluoroalkyl group;
- (X) (CF.sub.2 OCF.sub.2 CF.sub.2 O).
- 7. Fluoropolyether surface treating agents according to claim 6, in which the fluoropolyether is selected from the types: (I), (II), (III), having number average molecular weight ranging from 400 to 8000.
- 8. Fluoropolyether surface treating agents according to claim 6, in which the carboxy group can be linked to the repeating units through a divalent radical Z:
- --C.sub.p" F.sub.2p" O--(Z).sub.p' --COO--
- in which p" is 1 or 2, and p' is 0 or 1 and Z is selected from the following groups:
- --(CH.sub.2 --).sub.t wherein t=1-4, --CH.sub.2 OCH.sub.2 --
- --(CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 O).sub.t CH.sub.2 --, --CONHCH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 --.
- 9. Fluoropolyether surface treating agents according to claim 2, in which R of the RO-- group has from 1 to 8 carbon atoms.
- 10. A surface treating agent composition comprising agent according to claim 1 and a perfluoropolyether oil.
