Claims
- 1. A switch and terminal assembly comprising:
- a casing having a plurality of wall means for defining chamber means within said casing;
- a plurality of sets of terminals disposed in said casing along only one of said wall means thereof, said terminals in one of said terminal sets including a pair of electrical connector sections arranged generally in planar and angular relation with dissimilar configurations and extending generally in row formation with each other exteriorly of said casing, one of said electrical connector sections of said terminals in said one terminal set extending the row formation thereof only beyond said one wall means of said casing and the other of said electrical connector sections of said terminals in said one terminal set extending in the row formation thereof beyond both said one wall means and another of said wall means of said casing generally adjacent said one wall means, respectively, said terminals in another of said terminal sets including only another one electrical connector section having a configuration similar to that of said one electrical connector section of said terminals in said one terminal set and arranged so as to extend in the row formation therewith only beyond said one wall means of said casing, respectively, at least one terminal in a third one of said terminal sets including only a third one electrical connector section having a configuration similar to that of said other electrical connector sections of said terminals in said one terminal set and arranged so as to extend in the row formation therewith beyond both said one wall means and said another wall means of said casing, respectively;
- a plurality of switch means supporting sections on preselected ones of said terminals in said one terminal set, said another terminal set and said third one terminal set and extending from said one wall means interiorly of said casing into said chamber means thereof, respectively;
- a pair of switch means associated with at least a pair of said switch means supporting sections and operable generally for movement between switching modes with respect thereto, respectively; and
- a pair of means pivotally arranged with said casing for controlling said switch means, respectively, said controlling means including a pair of actuating arms pivotally movable within said casing and extending into said chamber means, a pair of means on said actuating arms for engagement with said switch means to effect the operation of said switch means from one of the switching modes to another of the switching modes thereof in response to the pivotal movement of said actuating arms, a pair of driving arms associated with said actuating arms so as to be generally conjointly pivotally movable therewith and extending exteriorly of said casing through a third one of said wall means thereof generally opposite said one wall means and generally adjacent said another wall means of said casing, and a pair of means on said driving arms for receiving an applied force to effect the generally conjoint pivotal movement of said actuating arms and said driving arms and the operation of said switch means by said engagement means on said actuating arms, respectively.
- 2. A switch and terminal assembly comprising:
- a casing having a plurality of wall means defining chamber means within said casing;
- a plurality of terminals associated with said casing along one of said wall means thereof and having at least one electrical connector section extending exteriorly of said casing at least in part beyond said one wall means thereof, respectively;
- a plurality of supporting sections on some of said terminals and extending interiorly of said casing from said one wall means into said chamber means, respectively;
- a pair of switch means movably secured to a respective one of said supporting sections within said chamber means and operable generally between switching positions for making with and breaking from at least another respective one of said supporting sections, respectively; and
- means for controlling said switch means including a pair of actuating means pivotally movable in said casing and extending into said chamber means for effecting the operations of said switch means, and a pair of means connected with said actuating means and extending exteriorly of said casing through another of said wall means thereof generally opposite said one wall means for receiving an applied force to effect the pivotal movement of said actuating means and the operations thereby of said switch means, respectively.
- 3. A switch and terminal assembly as set forth in claim 2 further comprising a pair of resilient means disposed in said casing for urging said actuating means toward a pivoted position effecting the operation of said switch means in one of the switching positions thereof, respectively.
- 4. A switch and terminal assembly as set forth in claim 2 wherein said actuating means includes a pair of means associated with said casing for pivotally mounting said actuating means in said casing, respectively.
- 5. A switch and terminal assembly as set forth in claim 2 wherein at least one of said switch means is movable between its switching positions so as to make with and break from said at least another respective one supporting section and a third one of said supporting sections on at least another one of said some terminals.
- 6. A switch and terminal assembly as set forth in claim 2 wherein one of said terminals comprises a ground terminal including means extending therefrom so as to be arranged generally in overlaying relation at least adjacent a third one of said wall means of said casing, said third one wall means being interposed between said one wall means and said another wall means of said casing.
- 7. A switch and terminal assembly comprising:
- a casing having chamber means therein;
- a plurality of terminals associated with said casing and having at least one electrical connector section extending exteriorly of said casing, respectively;
- a plurality of supporting sections on some of said terminals and extending interiorly of said casing into said chamber means thereof, respectively;
- a pair of switch means associated with at least a pair of said supporting sections and operable generally for movement with respect thereto between a pair of switching modes, respectively; and
- a pair of means pivotally arranged with said casing for controlling said switch means and including a pair of actuating means pivotally movable and extending into said chamber means for effecting the operation of said switch means between the switching modes thereof, and a pair of means associated with said actuating means and extending exteriorly of said casing for receiving applied forces to effect the pivotal movement of said actuating means and the operation thereby of said switch means, respectively.
- 8. A switch and terminal assembly as set forth in claim 7 wherein said actuating means are pivotally movable in one direction and another direction opposite the one direction to effect the operation of said switch means between the switching modes thereof, respectively, and at least one of said actuating means including means for driving engagement with one of said switch means to positively drive said one switch means from one of the switching modes toward the other of the switching modes thereof in the event of the occurrence of a condition releasably maintaining said one switch means in the one switching mode thereof.
- 9. A switch and terminal assembly as set forth in claim 7 further comprising a pair of resilient means associated with said actuating means for urging said actuating means toward pivoted positions effecting the operations of said switch means toward one of the switching modes thereof, respectively.
- 10. A switch and terminal assembly comprising:
- a casing;
- a plurality of terminals associated with said casing with at least some of said terminals defining switch means terminals extending both exteriorly and interiorly of said casing, respectively;
- a pair of switch means associated with said switch means terminals interiorly of said casing and operable generally for switching between a pair of switching modes, respectively;
- a pair of actuating means pivotally movable in said casing and operable generally for effecting the operation of said switch means between the switching modes thereof, respectively, and said actuating means including a pair of means extending exteriorly of said casing for receiving an applied force to effect the pivotal movement of said actuating means and the operation thereby of said switch means, respectively.
- 11. A switch and terminal assembly as set forth in claim 10 further comprising a pair of resilient means for urging said actuating means toward pivotal positions effecting the operation of said switch means toward one of the switching modes thereof, respectively.
- 12. A switch and terminal assembly as set forth in claim 10 wherein at least one of said actuating means includes means for driving engagement with one of said switch means to positively drive said one switch means from one of the switching modes toward the other of the switching modes thereof in the event of the occurrence of a condition releasably maintaining said one switch means in its one switching mode.
- 13. A switch and terminal assembly as set forth in claim 10 wherein said actuating means include a pair of means for pivotally mounting said actuating means in said casing, respectively.
- 14. A switch and terminal assembly as set forth in claim 10 wherein said casing includes a plurality of walls, said terminals being associated with said casing along one of said walls thereof.
- 15. A switch and terminal assembly as set forth in claim 14 wherein one of said switch means terminals associated with a respective one of said switch means includes an electrical connector section extending beyond said one wall and another of said switch means terminals associated with said respective one switch means includes another electrical connector section extending beyond both said one wall and another of said walls adjacent said one wall.
- 16. A switch and terminal assembly as set forth in claim 15 wherein a third one of said switch means terminals associated with said respective one switch means includes both said first named and another electrical connector sections respectively arranged generally in row formation with said first named electrical connector section of said one switch means terminal and said another electrical connector section of said another switch means terminal.
- 17. A switch and terminal assembly as set forth in claim 10 wherein one of said terminals comprises a ground terminal.
- 18. A switch and terminal assembly comprising:
- a casing having a plurality of wall means defining chamber means within said casing, a plurality of terminals disposed in said casing and extending generally in row formation along one of said wall means of said casing, some of said terminals having a pair of dissimilar electrical connector sections exteriorly of said casing, one of said electrical connector sections extending both beyond said one wall means and another of said wall means adjacent thereto and the other of said electrical connector sections being arranged in angular relation with said one electrical connector sections, respectively, others of said terminals having only one electrical connector section similar to one of said one and other electrical connector sections on said some terminals, a set of said some terminals and said others of said terminals comprising switch terminals, two of said switch terminals supporting movable switch means operable generally between a pair of switching positions for making with and breaking from other switch means supported on at least another two of said switch terminals within said chamber means, respectively, a pair of means pivotally movable within said casing and extending into said chamber for controlling the operation of said movable switch means between the switching positions thereof, respectively, and said controlling means including a pair of extension means extending exteriorly of said casing through a third one of said wall means thereof generally opposite said one wall means for receiving an applied force to effect the conjoint pivotal movement of said extension means and said controlling means and the operation thereby of said movable switch means from one of the switching positions toward the other of the switching positions thereof, respectively.

This application is a division of the commonly assigned then copending parent application Ser. No. 156,581 filed Feb. 16, 1988 (now U.S. Pat. No. 4,834,679 issued May 30, 1989) which is a division of grandparent application Ser. No. 849,915 filed Apr. 9, 1986 (now U.S. Pat. No. 4,757,604 issued July 19, 1988) which in turn is a division of great grandparent application Ser. No. 496,524 filed May 20, 1983 (now U.S. Pat. No. 4,594,773 issued June 17, 1986). Further, this application is related to the commonly assigned Robert W. White application Ser. No. 402,320 filed July 27, 1982 (now U.S. Pat. No. 4,473,764 issued Sept. 25, 1984) and also the commonly assigned James L. King application Ser.
