Claims
- 1. Interconnection apparatus for separate video components of a home entertainment system, comprising:
- a video signal conductor having a characteristic impedance for transferring a video signal produced by one of said components to at least one other of said components;
- a plurality of connection means associated with respective ones of said components for connecting video signal inputs and/or outputs of said components to said video signal conductor at distributed locations along said video signal conductor;
- first switch means having first and second ends connected in series with said video signal conductor for selectively separating said conductor into first and second segments when non-conductive; and
- second switch means for selectively coupling an impedance element between said video signal conductor at its junction with at least one end of said first switch means and a reference potential point when conductive so as to reduce vide signal reflections from said junction, said second switch means being conductive when said first switch means is non-conductive.
- 2. The apparatus recited in claim 1 wherein said impedance element comprises:
- a resistor having an impedance substantially equal to said characteristic impedance.
- 3. The apparatus recited in claim 2 wherein:
- said second switch means selectively couples first and second impedance elements in shunt with said video signal conductor at its junctions with respective ends of said first switch means when conductive.
- 4. The apparatus recited in claim 1 wherein:
- a portion of said video signal conductor, one of said connection means, said first switch means, said second switch means and said impedance element are located in a single housing associated with one of said components.
- 5. The apparatus recited in claim 4 wherein:
- said second switch means selectively couples the ends of said first and second segments of said video conductor located within said housing to said reference potential point through respective first and second impedance elements when conductive.
