Claims
- 1. Apparatus for in-situ milling comprising:a support; a pair of spaced apart rails attached to the support; a cross member having means, located on first and second opposite sides of the cross member, for alternately removably connecting the first and second sides of the cross member to the rails, said cross member movably mounted on and extending perpendicular to the rails in a first orientation, and subsequently able to be removed and movably re-mounted on the rails in a second orientation, reciprocal to the first orientation via the means for alternately removably connecting, and a cutting head movably mounted on the cross member.
- 2. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the support includes a pair of vertically spaced apart beams.
- 3. The apparatus of claim 2 wherein the rails are horizontally spaced apart.
- 4. The apparatus of claim 2 wherein the cross member is vertically movable on the rails.
- 5. The apparatus of claim 4 wherein the cutting head is horizontally movable on the cross member.
- 6. Apparatus for in-situ milling comprising:a support; a first and a second pair of spaced apart rails attached to the support, each pair of rails including: a cross member having means, located on first and second opposite sides of the cross member, for alternately removably connecting the first and second sides of the cross member to its respective pair of rails, said cross member movably mounted on and extending perpendicular to its respective pair of rails in a first orientation, and able to be removed and movably remounted on the respective pair of rails in a second orientation, reciprocal to the first orientation via the means for alternately removably connecting, and a cutting head movably mounted on the cross member.
- 7. The apparatus of claim 6 wherein the support includes a pair of vertically spaced apart beams.
- 8. The apparatus of claim 7 wherein each pair of rails are horizontally spaced apart.
- 9. The apparatus of claim 7 wherein each cross member is vertically movable on its respective rails.
- 10. The apparatus of claim 9 wherein each cutting head is horizontally movable on its respective cross member.
- 11. Apparatus for in-situ milling comprising:a support; and a pair of spaced apart rails attached to the support; a cross member having means, located on first and second opposite sides of the cross member, for alternately removably connecting the first and second sides of the cross member to the rails; said cross member including a milling assembly and able to be alternately mounted on the support in a first orientation and a second orientation, opposite the first orientation, via the means for alternately removably connecting, the milling assembly movable in a first direction and including a cutting head movable in a second direction, perpendicular to the first direction.
- 12. The apparatus of claim 11 wherein the rails have a first beam of a first cross-section and a second beam of a second cross-section, different from the first cross-section.
- 13. The apparatus of claim 12 wherein the first beam is connected to the second beam.
- 14. The apparatus of claim 13 further comprising:a primary means for adjusting alignment between the rails and the support.
- 15. The apparatus of claim 14 further comprising:a secondary means for adjusting alignment between the first beam and the second beam.
- 16. The apparatus of claim 11 wherein the support includes a pair of vertically spaced apart beams.
- 17. The apparatus of claim 16 wherein the pair of rails are horizontally spaced apart.
- 18. The apparatus of claim 17 wherein the milling assembly is vertically movable on the rails and the cutting head is horizontally movable on the milling assembly.
- 19. Apparatus for in-situ milling opposed wear plate surfaces, which are equidistant from a centerline, of a mill housing, the apparatus comprising:a support mounted between the wear plate surfaces; a pair of spaced apart rails attached to the support; a cross member having means, located on first and second opposite sides of the cross member, for alternately removably connecting the first and second sides of the cross member to the rails; said cross member including a milling assembly mounted on the rails extending toward one of the wear plate surfaces, the milling assembly movable in a first direction and including a cutting head movable in a second direction, perpendicular to the first direction, and the milling assembly being able to be removed from the rails and re-mounted on the rails and extending toward the other of the wear plate surfaces via the means for alternately removably connecting.
- 20. The apparatus of claim 19 wherein the rails include a first beam of a first cross-section and a second beam of a second cross-section, different from the first cross-section.
- 21. The apparatus of claim 20 wherein the first beam is connected to the second beam.
- 22. The apparatus of claim 21 further comprising:a primary means for adjusting alignment the rails true to the centerline.
- 23. The apparatus of claim 22 further comprising:a secondary means for adjusting alignment of the second beam true to the centerline.
- 24. The apparatus of claim 19 wherein the wear plate surfaces extend vertically.
- 25. The apparatus of claim 24 wherein the support includes a pair of vertically spaced apart beams.
- 26. The apparatus of claim 25 wherein the rails are horizontally spaced apart.
- 27. The apparatus of claim 26 wherein the milling assembly is vertically movable on the rails and the cutting head is horizontally movable on the milling assembly.
