Claims
- 1. A labeled compound from the group of [2H1, 13C], [2H2, 13C] and [2H3, 13C]methyl aryl sulfones wherein the 13C methyl group attached to the sulfur of the sulfone includes exactly one, two or three deuterium atoms and the aryl group is selected from the group consisting of 1-naphthyl, substituted 1-naphthyl, 2-naphthyl, substituted 2-naphthyl, and phenyl groups with the structure
- 2. The compound of claim 1 wherein said aryl is selected from the group consisting of phenyl groups with the structure
- 3. The compound of claim 1 wherein said aryl is phenyl.
- 4. The compound of claim 1 wherein said methyl includes exactly one deuterium atom.
- 5. The compound of claim 1 wherein said methyl includes exactly two deuterium atoms.
- 6. The compound of claim 1 wherein said methyl includes exactly three deuterium atoms.
- 7. The compound of claim 3 wherein said methyl includes exactly one deuterium atom.
- 8. The compound of claim 3 wherein said methyl includes exactly two deuterium atoms.
- 9. The compound of claim 3 wherein said methyl includes exactly three deuterium atoms.
- 10. A process of preparing a methyl aryl sulfone comprising:
reacting a methyl aryl sulfide with an oxidizing agent of potassium peroxymonosulfate to form a methyl aryl sulfone.
- 11. The process of claim 10 wherein said methyl is substituted with 13C, 2H, or both.
- 12. The process of claim 10 wherein said methyl aryl sulfone is from the group consisting of [2H1, 13C], [2H2, 13C] and [2H3, 13C]methyl aryl sulfones.
- 13. The process of claim 10 wherein said aryl is selected from the group consisting of 1-naphthyl, substituted 1-naphthyl, 2-naphthyl, substituted 2-naphthyl, and phenyl groups with the structure
- 14. The process of claim 13 wherein said reacting is conducted at room temperature.
- 15. A labeled compound from the group of [2H1, 13C], [2H2, 13C] and [2H3, 13C]methyl aryl sulfoxides wherein the 13C methyl group attached to the sulfur of the sulfoxide includes exactly one, two or three deuterium atoms and the aryl group is selected from the group consisting of 1-naphthyl, substituted 1-naphthyl, 2-naphthyl, substituted 2-naphthyl, and phenyl groups with the structure
- 16. The compound of claim 15 wherein said aryl is selected from the group consisting of phenyl groups with the structure
- 17. The compound of claim 15 wherein said aryl is phenyl.
- 18. The compound of claim 15 wherein said methyl includes exactly one deuterium atom.
- 19. The compound of claim 15 wherein said methyl includes exactly two deuterium atoms.
- 20. The compound of claim 15 wherein said methyl includes exactly three deuterium atoms.
- 21. The compound of claim 17 wherein said methyl includes exactly one deuterium atom.
- 22. The compound of claim 17 wherein said methyl includes exactly two deuterium atoms.
- 23. The compound of claim 17 wherein said methyl includes exactly three deuterium atoms.
- 24. A process of preparing a methyl aryl sulfone comprising:
reacting a methyl aryl sulfide sulfoxide with hydrogen peroxide to form a methyl aryl sulfone.
- 25. The process of claim 24 wherein said methyl is substituted with 13C, 2H, or both.
- 26. The process of claim 24 wherein said methyl aryl sulfoxide is selected from the group consisting of [2H1, 13C], [2H2, 13C] and [2H3, 13C]methyl aryl sulfoxides.
- 27. The process of claim 24 wherein said aryl is selected from the group consisting of 1-naphthyl, substituted 1-naphthyl, 2-naphthyl, substituted 2-naphthyl, and phenyl groups with the structure
- 28. The process of claim 27 wherein said reacting is conducted at room temperature.
