Claims
- 1. A method for preparing a food for mammalian consumption, comprising the step of cooking at least one article of food in a synthetic hydrocarbon-based composition, the composition comprising a non-toxic hydrogenated oligomer of an alpha olefin having 5 to 20 carbon atoms.
- 2. The method of claim 1, wherein said alpha olefin is a normal alpha monoolefin having 6 to 12 carbon atoms.
- 3. The method of claim 2, wherein said alpha olefin is 1-dene.
- 4. The method of claim 3, wherein said hydrogenated oligomer is essentially free of dimer compounds.
- 5. The method of claim 1, wherein said alpha olefin has a mean chain length of 10 carbon atoms.
- 6. The method Of claim 5, wherein said hydrogenated oligomer is essentially free of dimer compounds.
