Claims
- 1. A system for mapping dissimilar communication protocols, comprising:
user communication information that spans at least two dissimilar communication networks; a first communication protocol associated with a first communication network; a second communication protocol associated with a second communication network; and a software code segment configured to detect a call setup identifier and a call tear-down identifier associated with the first communication protocol, the software code segment also configured to detect a call setup identifier and call tear-down identifier associated with the second communication protocol, where the call setup identifier and the call tear-down identifier associated with the second communication protocol may occur within a predetermined amount of time before or after the call setup identifier or the call tear-down identifier associated with the first communication protocol.
- 2. The system of claim 1, wherein the call setup identifiers and the call tear-down identifiers associated with the first and second communication protocols are saved to memory.
- 3. The system of claim 2, wherein the call setup identifier and the call tear-down identifier associated with the first communication protocol comply with signaling system seven integrated services digital network user part (SS7 ISUP).
- 4. The device of claim 3, wherein the call setup identifier and the call tear-down identifier associated with the second communication protocol comply with media gateway control protocol (MGCP).
- 5. The device of claim 4, wherein the software code segment maps a point code circuit identification code (PC/CIC) associated with the first communication protocol to an MGCP endpoint name associated with the second communication protocol.
- 6. A method for mapping dissimilar communication protocol signaling messages, comprising:
receiving communication information that spans at least two dissimilar communication networks; detecting a call setup identifier and a call tear-down identifier associated with a first communication protocol; and detecting a call setup identifier and call tear-down identifier associated with a second communication protocol, where the call setup identifier and the call tear-down identifier associated with the second communication protocol may occur within a predetermined amount of time before or after the call setup identifier or the call tear-down identifier associated with the first communication protocol.
- 7. The method of claim 6, further comprising saving the call setup identifiers and the call tear-down identifiers associated with the first and second communication protocols to a memory.
- 8. The system of claim 7, wherein the call setup identifier and the call tear-down identifier associated with the first communication protocol comply with signaling system seven integrated services digital network user part (SS7 ISUP).
- 9. The method of claim 8, wherein the call setup identifier and the call tear-down identifier associated with the second communication protocol comply with media gateway control protocol (MGCP).
- 10. The method of claim 9, further comprising mapping a point code circuit identification code (PC/CIC) associated with the first communication protocol to an MGCP endpoint name associated with the second communication protocol.
- 11. A computer readable medium having a program for mapping dissimilar communication protocol signaling messages, comprising:
logic for receiving communication information that spans at least two dissimilar communication networks; logic for detecting a call setup identifier and a call tear-down identifier associated with a first communication protocol; and logic for detecting a call setup identifier and call tear-down identifier associated with a second communication protocol, where the call setup identifier and the call tear-down identifier associated with the second communication protocol may occur within a predetermined amount of time before or after the call setup identifier or the call tear-down identifier associated with the first communication protocol.
- 12. The program of claim 11, further comprising logic for saving the call setup identifiers and the call tear-down identifiers associated with the first and second communication protocols to a memory.
- 13. The program of claim 12, wherein the call setup identifier and the call tear-down identifier associated with the first communication protocol comply with signaling system seven integrated services digital network user part (SS7 ISUP).
- 14. The program of claim 13, wherein the call setup identifier and the call tear-down identifier associated with the second communication protocol comply with media gateway control protocol (MGCP).
- 15. The program of claim 14, further comprising logic for mapping a point code circuit identification code (PC/CIC) associated with the first communication protocol to an MGCP endpoint name associated with the second communication protocol.
