Claims
- 1. A method for the separation or other treatment of fluids including liquids, liquid-liquid mixtures, gases, or liquid gas mixtures and of materials contained in said fluids including solids, other particles, or gelantinous or viscous materials, comprising:
a centrifugal separator whose outer wall includes hopper-shaped or trumpet-shaped receptacles, each of whose broadest open end presents to the interior of said separator, and each of whose sloping receptacle walls converge outwardly to meet at a relatively smaller opening projecting through the exterior of said separator outer wall; an innermost, relatively stiff or rigid material liner element, shaped to loosely fit within the outer shell of each receptacle, such that the attachment of said inner rigid liner element to the outer shell is sufficiently free to allow it to be vibrated in various ways and to move in various directions within the outer shell; and means of generating or inducing vibration on, against and/or in the innermost rigid or harder material liner element, wherein vibratory motion thus applied to the inner rigid liner of the receptacles that form the outer wall of a centrifugal device decreases the friction between their wall liners and the materials being centrifugally thrown against them, such that these materials are thereby freed from sticking to the walls and thus can travel further outwards along said wall liners and deeper into the increasingly small volume of space presented by the sloped, converging walls of said receptacles, thereby applying additional physical compression to said materials due to the narrowing of the walls, and thus compelling additional or enhanced removal of fluid from these materials, as a means for either increasing the separation of lighter fluid from heavier components, or for improving the removal of additional fluid from said heavier components resulting in their increased dryness, depending on the goal of a particular centrifugal process.
- 2. A centrifugal device for separation or other treatment of fluids including liquids, liquid-liquid mixtures, gases, or liquid-gas mixtures and of materials contained in said fluids including solids, other particles, or gelatinous or viscous materials, comprising:
a centrifugal separator whose outer wall includes hopper-shaped or trumpet-shaped receptacles, each of whose broadest open end presents to the interior of said separator, and each of whose sloping receptacle walls converge outwardly to meet at a relatively smaller opening projecting through the exterior of said separator outer wall; a flexible and/or a compressible liner element shaped to fit within each receptacle forming the outer wall of a centrifugal device, each of which liners is loosely connected to the outer receptacle-lined wall and also to an additional, innermost more rigid liner element; an innermost more rigid or harder material liner element, shaped to fit within the flexible or compressible liner element of each receptacle (1(b) herein), such that said innermost rigid liner elements is free to be vibrated in various ways and move in various directions within the flexible and loosely connected containment supplied by the flexible and/or compressible liner element; an innermost, relatively stiff or rigid material liner element, shaped to loosely fit within the outer shell of each receptacle, such that the attachment of said inner rigid liner element to the outer shell is sufficiently free to allow it to be vibrated in various ways and to move in various directions within the outer shell; and means of generating or inducing vibration on, against and/or in the innermost rigid or harder material liner element.
