Claims
- 1. A system for tracking information, said system being suitable for use in connection with a manufacturing production line constructing a composite product from a sequential addition of component parts during a production run, said manufacturing production line including a multiple repeat application device, said multiple repeat application device having a plurality of application stations, each of said plurality of application stations being configured for adding a first component part to consecutive composite products being produced during a production run, said system comprising:
a communication network; a first inspection system for automatically inspecting a product attribute of one of a plurality of composite products produced during the production run, said product attribute being correlated to a specific one of the plurality of application stations of the multiple repeat application device, said first inspection system providing a first product attribute parameter corresponding to the inspected product attribute; and an information exchange interfacing with the first inspection system via the communication network and obtaining via said communication network a sample set of first product attribute parameters associated with the plurality of composite products produced during the production run, said information exchange calculating a mathematical characteristic of the sample set of first product attribute parameters corresponding to the specific one of the plurality of application station
- 2. The system as set forth in claim 1 wherein the product attribute is correlated to a second specific one of the plurality of application stations of the multiple repeat application device, said first inspection system providing a second product attribute parameter corresponding to the inspected product attribute and wherein said information exchange calculates a mathematical characteristic of the sample set of second product attribute parameters corresponding to the second specific one of the plurality of application stations.
- 3. A system as set forth in claim 1 wherein the composite product comprises a disposable article and the inspected product attribute comprises a position of a component part of the disposable article.
- 4. A system as set forth in claim 3 wherein the disposable article comprises a refastenable article.
- 5. A system as set forth in claim 1 wherein the mathematical characteristic calculated by the information exchange comprises an average of the sample set of first product attribute parameters.
- 6. A system as set forth in claim 1 wherein the mathematical characteristic calculated by the information exchange comprises a standard deviation of the sample set of first product attribute parameters.
- 7. A system as set forth in claim 1 further comprising an operator interface for displaying information to an operator associated with the manufacturing production line, said operator interface being configured for displaying an indication of the mathematical characteristic.
- 8. A system as set forth in claim 7 further comprising:
a second inspection system positioned for inspecting the product attribute at a position subsequent to a position at which the first inspection system inspects the product attribute, said second inspection system providing a second product attribute parameter corresponding to the inspected product attribute; and wherein the operator interface interfaces with the second inspection system via the communication network and obtains via said communication network a sample set of second product attribute parameters, said operator interface calculating a mathematical characteristic of the sample set of second product attribute parameters and applying a logic filter to the calculated mathematical characteristic of the sample set of first product attribute parameters and the calculated mathematical characteristic of the sample set of second product attribute parameters for detecting a problem associated with the specific one of the plurality of application stations.
- 9. A system as set forth in claim 7 wherein the information exchange compares the mathematical characteristic to a target and the indication of the mathematical characteristic displayed by the operator interface comprises an indication of a difference between the mathematical characteristic and the target.
- 10. A system as set forth in claim 9 wherein the indication of the difference between the mathematical characteristic and the target displayed by the operator interface comprises an alarm indication.
- 11. A system as set forth in claim 10 wherein the alarm indication corresponds to the specific one of the plurality of application stations.
- 12. A system as set forth in claim 9 wherein the indication of the difference between the mathematical characteristic and the target displayed by the operator interface comprises a troubleshooting indication.
- 13. A system as set forth in claim 12 wherein the troubleshooting indication corresponds to the specific one of the plurality of application stations.
- 14. A system as set forth in claim 7 wherein the operator interface compares the mathematical characteristic to a target and the indication of the mathematical characteristic displayed by the operator interface comprises an indication of a difference between the mathematical characteristic and the target.
- 15. A system as set forth in claim 14 wherein the indication of the difference between the mathematical characteristic and the target displayed by the operator interface comprises an alarm indication.
- 16. A system as set forth in claim 15 wherein the alarm indication corresponds to the specific one of the plurality of application stations.
- 17. A system as set forth in claim 14 wherein the indication of the difference between the mathematical characteristic and the target displayed by the operator interface comprises a troubleshooting indication.
- 18. A system as set forth in claim 17 wherein the troubleshooting indication corresponds to the specific one of the plurality of application stations.
- 19. A system as set forth in claim 1 wherein the information exchange applies a filter to the sample set of first product attribute parameters, said filter disregarding unreliable first product attribute parameters such that the calculated mathematical characteristic excludes unreliable first product attribute parameters.
- 20. A system as set forth in claim 1 further comprising:
a second inspection system positioned for inspecting the product attribute at a position subsequent to a position at which the first inspection system inspects the product attribute, said second inspection system providing a second product attribute parameter corresponding to the inspected product attribute; an operator interface for displaying information to an operator associated with the manufacturing production line; and wherein the information exchange interfaces with the second inspection system via the communication network and obtains via said communication network a sample set of second product attribute parameters, said information exchange calculating a mathematical characteristic of the sample set of second product attribute parameters, said operator interface displaying an indication of the mathematical characteristic of the sample set of first product attribute parameters and an indication of the mathematical characteristic of the sample set of second product attribute parameters.
- 21. A system as set forth in claim 1 further comprising:
a second inspection system positioned for inspecting the product attribute at a position subsequent to a position at which the first inspection system inspects the product attribute, said second inspection system providing a second product attribute parameter corresponding to the inspected product attribute; and wherein the information exchange interfaces with the second inspection system via the communication network and obtains via said communication network a sample set of second product attribute parameters, said information exchange calculating a mathematical characteristic of the sample set of second product attribute parameters and applying a logic filter to the calculated mathematical characteristic of the sample set of first product attribute parameters and the calculated mathematical characteristic of the sample set of second product attribute parameters for detecting a problem associated with the specific one of the plurality of application stations.
- 22. A system as set forth in claim 1 further comprising:
a second inspection system positioned for inspecting the product attribute at a position subsequent to a position at which the first inspection system inspects the product attribute, said second inspection system providing a second product attribute parameter corresponding to the inspected product attribute; and wherein the information exchange interfaces with the second inspection system via the communication network and obtains via said communication network a sample set of second product attribute parameters, said information exchange calculating a mathematical characteristic of the sample set of second product attribute parameters and applying a logic filter to the calculated mathematical characteristic of the sample set of first product attribute parameters and the calculated mathematical characteristic of the sample set of second product attribute parameters for detecting a problem associated with the specific one of the plurality of application stations.
- 23. A system as set forth in claim 1 further comprising a database system, said database system being configured for storing manufacturing parameters having a logical relationship to the sample set of first product attribute parameters, wherein the information exchange further comprises a logic filter for correlating the sample set of first product attribute parameters to the manufacturing parameters.
- 24. A system as set forth in claim 23 wherein the manufacturing parameters comprise raw material data items identifying a characteristic of a raw material used for providing the first component part added by the multiple repeat application device wherein the information exchange or the operator interface identifies a data pattern between the correlated sample set of first product attribute parameters and the raw material used for providing the first component part.
- 25. A system as set forth in claim 23 wherein the manufacturing parameters comprise raw material data items identifying a characteristic of a raw material used for providing the first component part added by the multiple repeat application device so that a data pattern may be identified between the correlated sample set of first product attribute parameters and the raw material used for providing the first component part.
- 26. A system as set forth in claim 23 wherein the manufacturing parameters comprise quality data items identifying a quality characteristic associated with one or more composite products constructed during the production run, and wherein the information exchange or the operator interface identifies a data pattern between the correlated sample set of first product attribute parameters and said quality data items.
- 27. A system as set forth in claim 23 wherein the manufacturing parameters comprise quality data items identifying a quality characteristic associated with one or more composite products constructed during the production run, so that a data pattern may be identified between the correlated sample set of first product attribute parameters and said quality data items.
- 28. A system as set forth in claim 23 wherein the manufacturing parameters comprise productivity data items identifying a productivity characteristic associated with the production run, and wherein the information exchange or the operator interface identifies a data pattern between the correlated sample set of first product attribute parameters and said productivity data items.
- 29. A system as set forth in claim 23 wherein the manufacturing parameters comprise productivity data items identifying a productivity characteristic associated with the production run, so that a data pattern may be identified between the correlated sample set of first product attribute parameters and said productivity data items.
- 30. A system as set forth in claim 23 wherein the manufacturing parameters comprise process set point data items identifying a process setting associated with the manufacturing production line during the production run, and wherein the information exchange or the operator interface identifies a data pattern between the correlated sample set of first product attribute parameters and said process set point data items.
- 31. A system as set forth in claim 23 wherein the manufacturing parameters comprise process set point data items identifying a process setting associated with the manufacturing production line during the production run, so that a data pattern may be identified between the correlated sample set of first product attribute parameters and said process set point data items.
- 32. A system for tracking information, said system being suitable for use in connection with a manufacturing production line constructing a composite product from a sequential addition of component parts during a production run, said manufacturing production line including a multiple repeat application device, said multiple repeat application device having a plurality of application stations, each of said plurality of application stations being configured for adding a first component part to a consecutive composite products being produced during a production run, said system comprising:
a communication network; an inspection system for automatically inspecting a product attribute of a composite product produced during the production run, said product attribute being correlated to the first component part, said inspection system determining a product attribute parameter corresponding to the inspected product attribute; and an information exchange interfacing with the inspection system via the communication network and obtaining the product attribute parameter via said communication network, said information exchange relating said product attribute parameter to a specific one of the plurality of application stations.
- 33. A system as set forth in claim 32 wherein the composite product comprises a disposable article and the inspected product attribute comprises a position of the first component part.
- 34. A system as set forth in claim 33 wherein the disposable article comprises a refastenable article.
- 35. A system as set forth in claim 32 wherein relating the product attribute parameter to the specific one of the plurality of application stations comprises storing the product attribute parameter in a buffer having an index corresponding to the specific one of the plurality application stations.
- 36. A system as set forth in claim 35 wherein the parameter stored in the buffer is used to calculate one or more mathematical characteristics of the corresponding product attribute.
- 37. A system as set forth in claim 32 wherein relating the product attribute parameter to the specific one of the plurality of application stations comprises storing the product attribute parameter in another buffer having an index corresponding to another specific one of the plurality application stations.
- 38. A system as set forth in claim 32 further comprising an operator interface for displaying information to an operator associated with the manufacturing production line, said operator interface being configured for displaying an indication of the product attribute parameter.
- 39. A system as set forth in claim 38 wherein the information exchange compares the product attribute parameter to a target and the indication of the product attribute displayed on the operator interface comprises an indication of a difference between the product attribute parameter and the target.
- 40. A system as set forth in claim 39 wherein the indication of the difference between the product attribute parameter and the target displayed on the operator interface comprises an alarm indication.
- 41. A system as set forth in claim 40 wherein the alarm indication corresponds to the specific one of the plurality of application stations.
- 42. A system as set forth in claim 39 wherein the indication of the difference between the product attribute parameter and the target displayed on the operator interface comprises a troubleshooting indication.
- 43. A system as set forth in claim 42 wherein the troubleshooting indication corresponds to the specific one of the plurality of application stations.
- 44. A system as set forth in claim 38 wherein the operator interface compares the product attribute parameter to a target and the indication of the product attribute displayed on the operator interface comprises an indication of a difference between the product attribute parameter and the target.
- 45. A system as set forth in claim 44 wherein the indication of the difference between the product attribute parameter and the target displayed on the operator interface comprises an alarm indication.
- 46. A system as set forth in claim 45 wherein the alarm indication corresponds to the specific one of the plurality of application stations.
- 47. A system as set forth in claim 44 wherein the indication of the difference between the product attribute parameter and the target displayed on the operator interface comprises a troubleshooting indication.
- 48. A system as set forth in claim 47 wherein the troubleshooting indication corresponds to the specific one of the plurality of application stations.
- 49. A system as set forth in claim 32 wherein the information exchange is configured for filtering the obtained product attribute parameter for disregarding unreliable product attribute parameters.
- 50. A system as set forth in claim 32 further comprising:
another inspection system positioned for inspecting the product attribute at a position subsequent to a position at which the first inspection system inspects the product attribute, said other inspection system providing another product attribute parameter corresponding to the inspected product attribute; an operator interface for displaying information to an operator associated with the manufacturing production line; and wherein the information exchange interfaces with the other inspection system via the communication network and obtains via said communication network the other product attribute parameter, said operator interface displaying an indication of the product attribute parameter and an indication of the other product attribute parameter.
- 51. A system as set forth in claim 32 further comprising:
another inspection system positioned for inspecting the product attribute at a position subsequent to a position at which the first inspection system inspects the product attribute, said other inspection system providing another product attribute parameter corresponding to the inspected product attribute; and wherein the information exchange interfaces with the other inspection system via the communication network and obtains via said communication network the other product attribute parameter, said information exchange applying a logic filter to the product attribute parameter and the other product attribute parameter for detecting a problem associated with the specific one of the plurality of application stations.
- 52. A system as set forth in claim 32 further comprising a database system, said database system being configured for storing a manufacturing parameter having a logical relationship to the product attribute parameter, wherein the information exchange further comprises a logic filter for correlating the product attribute parameter to the manufacturing parameters.
- 53. A system as set forth in claim 52 wherein the manufacturing parameter comprises a raw material data parameter identifying a characteristic of a raw material used for providing the first component part added by the multiple repeat application device wherein the information exchange or the operator interface identifies a data pattern between the correlated product attribute parameter and the raw material used for providing the first component part.
- 54. A system as set forth in claim 52 wherein the manufacturing parameter comprises a raw material data parameter identifying a characteristic of a raw material used for providing the first component part added by the multiple repeat application device so that a data pattern may be identified between the correlated product attribute parameter and the raw material used for providing the first component part.
- 55. A system as set forth in claim 52 wherein the manufacturing parameter comprises a quality data parameter identifying a quality characteristic associated with one or more composite products constructed during the production run, and wherein the information exchange or the operator interface identifies a data pattern between the correlated product attribute parameter and said quality data parameter.
- 56. A system as set forth in claim 52 wherein the manufacturing parameter comprises a quality data parameter identifying a quality characteristic associated with one or more composite products constructed during the production run, so that a data pattern may be identified between the correlated product attribute parameter and said quality data parameter.
- 57. A system as set forth in claim 52 wherein the manufacturing parameter comprises a productivity data parameter identifying a productivity characteristic associated with the production run, and wherein the information exchange or the operator interface identifies a data pattern between the correlated product attribute parameter and said productivity data parameter.
- 58. A system as set forth in claim 52 wherein the manufacturing parameter comprises a productivity data parameter identifying a productivity characteristic associated with the production run, so that a data pattern may be identified between the correlated product attribute parameter and said productivity data parameter.
- 59. A system as set forth in claim 52 wherein the manufacturing parameter comprises a process setting parameter identifying a process setting associated with the manufacturing production line during the production run, and wherein the information exchange or the operator interface identifies a data pattern between the correlated product attribute parameter and said process setting parameter.
- 60. A system as set forth in claim 52 wherein the manufacturing parameter comprises a process setting parameter identifying a process setting associated with the manufacturing production line during the production run, so that a data pattern may be identified between the correlated product attribute parameter and said process setting parameter.
- 61. A method for tracking information, said method being suitable for use in connection with a manufacturing production line constructing a composite product from a sequential addition of component parts during a production run, said manufacturing production line including a multiple repeat application device, said multiple repeat application device having a plurality of application stations, each of said plurality of application stations being configured for adding a first component part to a consecutive composite products being produced during a production run, said method comprising:
inspecting a product attribute of a product being manufactured during the production run at a first position in the manufacturing production line, said product attribute being associated with the first component part; determining a product attribute parameter being indicative of the inspected product attribute; and relating the product attribute parameter to a specific one of the plurality of application stations.
- 62. A method as set forth in claim 61 wherein the composite product comprises a disposable article and wherein inspecting the product attribute comprises detecting a position of the first component part.
- 63. A method as set forth in claim 61 wherein relating the product attribute parameter to the specific one of the plurality of application stations comprises storing the product attribute parameter in a buffer and indexing the stored product attribute parameter to the specific one of the plurality of application stations.
- 64. A system as set forth in claim 63 wherein the parameter stored in the buffer is used to calculate one or more mathematical characteristics of the corresponding product attribute.
- 65. A method as set forth in claim 61 wherein relating the product attribute parameter to the specific one of the plurality of application stations comprises storing the product attribute parameter in another buffer and indexing the stored product attribute parameter to another specific one of the plurality of application stations.
- 66. A method as set forth in claim 61 further comprising displaying an indication of the product attribute parameter on an operator interface associated with the manufacturing production line.
- 67. A method as set forth in claim 66 further comprising comparing the product attribute parameter to a target and wherein displaying the indication of the product attribute parameter to the operator interface associated with the manufacturing production line comprises displaying an indication of a difference between the product attribute parameter and the target.
- 68. A method as set forth in claim 67 wherein displaying the indication of the difference between the product attribute parameter and the target comprises displaying an alarm indication.
- 69. A method as set forth in claim 68 wherein displaying the alarm indication comprises correlating the alarm indication to the specific one of the plurality of application stations.
- 70. A method as set forth in claim 67 wherein displaying the indication of the difference between the product attribute parameter and the target comprises displaying a troubleshooting indication.
- 71. A method as set forth in claim 70 wherein displaying the troubleshooting indication comprises correlating the troubleshooting indication to the specific one of the plurality of application stations.
- 72. A method as set forth in claim 61 further comprising applying a filter to the determined product attribute parameter whereby unreliable product attribute parameters are disregarded.
- 73. A method as set forth in claim 61 further comprising:
inspecting the product attribute at a second position being subsequent to the first position in the manufacturing production line; determining another product attribute parameter indicative of the inspected product attribute; displaying an indication of the product attribute parameter on an operator interface associated with the manufacturing production line; and displaying an indication of the other product attribute parameter on the operator interface associated with the manufacturing production line.
- 74. A method as set forth in claim 61 further comprising:
inspecting the product attribute at a second position being subsequent to the first position in the manufacturing production line; determining another product attribute parameter indicative of the inspected product attribute; and applying a logic filter to the product attribute parameter and the other product attribute parameter for detecting a problem associated with the specific one of the plurality of application stations.
- 75. A method as set forth in claim 61 further comprising:
providing a database system; populating said database system with a manufacturing parameter having a logical relationship to the product attribute parameter; and correlating the product attribute parameter with the manufacturing parameter.
- 76. A method as set forth in claim 75 wherein the manufacturing parameter comprises a raw material data parameter for identifying a characteristic of a raw material used for providing the first component part added by the multiple repeat application device, said method further comprising identifying a data pattern between the correlated product attribute parameter and the raw material used for providing the first component part.
- 77. A method as set forth in claim 75 wherein the manufacturing parameter comprises a quality data parameter for identifying a quality characteristic associated with one or more composite products constructed during the production run, said method further comprising identifying a data pattern between the correlated product attribute parameter and said quality data parameter.
- 78. A method as set forth in claim 75 wherein the manufacturing parameter comprises a productivity data parameter identifying a productivity characteristic associated with the production run, and said method further comprising identifying a data pattern between the correlated product attribute parameter and said productivity data parameter.
- 79. A method as set forth in claim 75 wherein the manufacturing parameter comprises a process setting parameter identifying a process setting associated with the manufacturing production line during the production run, and said method further comprising identifying a data pattern between the correlated product attribute parameter and said process setting parameter.
- 80. A system for tracking information, said system being suitable for use in connection with a manufacturing production line constructing a composite product from a sequential addition of component parts during a production run, said manufacturing production line including a multiple repeat application device, said multiple repeat application device having a plurality of application stations, each of said plurality of application stations being configured for adding a first component part to consecutive composite products being produced during a production run, said system comprising:
a communication network; a first inspection system for automatically inspecting a process attribute of the production run, said process attribute being correlated to a specific one of the plurality of application stations of the multiple repeat application device, said first inspection system providing a first process attribute parameter corresponding to the inspected process attribute; and an information exchange interfacing with the first inspection system via the communication network and obtaining via said communication network a sample set of first process attribute parameters associated with the plurality of composite products produced during the production run, said information exchange calculating a mathematical characteristic of the sample set of first process attribute parameters corresponding to the specific one of the plurality of application stations.
- 81. A system as set forth in claim 80 wherein the composite product comprises a disposable article and the inspected product attribute comprises a position of a component part of the disposable article.
- 82. A system as set forth in claim 80 wherein the mathematical characteristic calculated by the information exchange comprises an average of the sample set of first product attribute parameters.
- 83. A system as set forth in claim 80 wherein the mathematical characteristic calculated by the information exchange comprises a standard deviation of the sample set of first product attribute parameters.
- 84. A system as set forth in claim 80 further comprising an operator interface for displaying information to an operator associated with the manufacturing production line, said operator interface being configured for displaying an indication of the mathematical characteristic.
- 85. A system as set forth in claim 84 further comprising:
a second inspection system positioned for inspecting the product attribute at a position subsequent to a position at which the first inspection system inspects the product attribute, said second inspection system providing a second product attribute parameter corresponding to the inspected product attribute; and wherein the operator interface interfaces with the second inspection system via the communication network and obtains via said communication network a sample set of second product attribute parameters, said operator interface calculating a mathematical characteristic of the sample set of second product attribute parameters and applying a logic filter to the calculated mathematical characteristic of the sample set of first product attribute parameters and the calculated mathematical characteristic of the sample set of second product attribute parameters for detecting a problem associated with the specific one of the plurality of application stations.

A system as set forth in claim 84 wherein the information exchange compares the mathematical characteristic to a target and the indication of the mathematical characteristic displayed by the operator interface comprises an indication of a difference between the mathematical characteristic and the target.
- 87. A system as set forth in claim 86 wherein the indication of the difference between the mathematical characteristic and the target displayed by the operator interface comprises an alarm indication.
- 88. A system as set forth in claim 87 wherein the alarm indication corresponds to the specific one of the plurality of application stations.
- 89. A system as set forth in claim 86 wherein the indication of the difference between the mathematical characteristic and the target displayed by the operator interface comprises a troubleshooting indication.
- 90. A system as set forth in claim 89 wherein the troubleshooting indication corresponds to the specific one of the plurality of application stations.

A system as set forth in claim 84 wherein the operator interface compares the mathematical characteristic to a target and the indication of the mathematical characteristic displayed by the operator interface comprises an indication of a difference between the mathematical characteristic and the target.
- 92. A system as set forth in claim 91 wherein the indication of the difference between the mathematical characteristic and the target displayed by the operator interface comprises an alarm indication.
- 93. A system as set forth in claim 92 wherein the alarm indication corresponds to the specific one of the plurality of application stations.
- 94. A system as set forth in claim 91 wherein the indication of the difference between the mathematical characteristic and the target displayed by the operator interface comprises a troubleshooting indication.

A system as set forth in claim 80 wherein the information exchange applies a filter to the sample set of first product attribute parameters, said filter disregarding unreliable first product attribute parameters such that the calculated mathematical characteristic excludes unreliable first product attribute parameters.

A system as set forth in claim 80 further comprising a database system, said database system being configured for storing manufacturing parameters having a logical relationship to the sample set of first product attribute parameters, wherein the information exchange further comprises a logic filter for correlating the sample set of first product attribute parameters to the manufacturing parameters.

A system as set forth in claim 97 wherein the manufacturing parameters comprise raw material data items identifying a characteristic of a raw material used for providing the first component part added by the multiple repeat application device wherein the information exchange or the operator interface identifies a data pattern between the correlated sample set of first product attribute parameters and the raw material used for providing the first component part.

A system as set forth in claim 97 wherein the manufacturing parameters comprise raw material data items identifying a characteristic of a raw material used for providing the first component part added by the multiple repeat application device so that a data pattern may be identified between the correlated sample set of first product attribute parameters and the raw material used for providing the first component part.

A system as set forth in claim 97 wherein the manufacturing parameters comprise quality data items identifying a quality characteristic associated with one or more composite products constructed during the production run, and wherein the information exchange or the operator interface identifies a data pattern between the correlated sample set of first product attribute parameters and said quality data items.

A system as set forth in claim 97 wherein the manufacturing parameters comprise quality data items identifying a quality characteristic associated with one or more composite products constructed during the production run, so that a data pattern may be identified between the correlated sample set of first product attribute parameters and said quality data items.

A system as set forth in claim 97 wherein the manufacturing parameters comprise productivity data items identifying a productivity characteristic associated with the production run, and wherein the information exchange or the operator interface identifies a data pattern between the correlated sample set of first product attribute parameters and said productivity data items.

A system as set forth in claim 97 wherein the manufacturing parameters comprise productivity data items identifying a productivity characteristic associated with the production run, so that a data pattern may be identified between the correlated sample set of first product attribute parameters and said productivity data items.

A system as set forth in claim 97 wherein the manufacturing parameters comprise process set point data items identifying a process setting associated with the manufacturing production line during the production run, and wherein the information exchange or the operator interface identifies a data pattern between the correlated sample set of first product attribute parameters and said process set point data items

A system as set forth in claim 97 wherein the manufacturing parameters comprise process set point data items identifying a process setting associated with the manufacturing production line during the production run, so that a data pattern may be identified between the correlated sample set of first product attribute parameters and said process set point data items.
- 106. A system for tracking information, said system being suitable for use in connection with a manufacturing production line constructing a composite product from a sequential addition of component parts during a production run, said manufacturing production line including a multiple repeat application device, said multiple repeat application device having a plurality of application stations, each of said plurality of application stations being configured for adding a first component part to a consecutive composite products being produced during a production run, said system comprising:
a communication network; an inspection system for automatically inspecting a process attribute of the production run, said process attribute being correlated to the first component part, said inspection system determining a process attribute parameter corresponding to the inspected process attribute; and an information exchange interfacing with the inspection system via the communication network and obtaining the process attribute parameter via said communication network, said information exchange relating said process attribute parameter to a specific one of the plurality of application stations.
- 107. A system as set forth in claim 106 wherein the composite product comprises a disposable article and the inspected product attribute comprises a position of the first component part.
- 108. A system as set forth in claim 106 wherein relating the product attribute parameter to the specific one of the plurality of application stations comprises storing the product attribute parameter in a buffer having an index corresponding to the specific one of the plurality application stations.
- 109. A system as set forth in claim 108 wherein the parameter stored in the buffer is used to calculate one or more mathematical characteristics of the corresponding product attribute.
- 110. A system as set forth in claim 106 wherein relating the product attribute parameter to the specific one of the plurality of application stations comprises storing the product attribute parameter in another buffer having an index corresponding to another specific one of the plurality application stations.
- 111. A system as set forth in claim 106 further comprising an operator interface for displaying information to an operator associated with the manufacturing production line, said operator interface being configured for displaying an indication of the product attribute parameter.
- 112. A system as set forth in claim 111 wherein the information exchange compares the product attribute parameter to a target and the indication of the product attribute displayed on the operator interface comprises an indication of a difference between the product attribute parameter and the target.
- 113. A system as set forth in claim 112 wherein the indication of the difference between the product attribute parameter and the target displayed on the operator interface comprises an alarm indication.
- 114. A system as set forth in claim 113 wherein the alarm indication corresponds to the specific one of the plurality of application stations.
- 115. A system as set forth in claim 112 wherein the indication of the difference between the product attribute parameter and the target displayed on the operator interface comprises a troubleshooting indication.
- 116. A system as set forth in claim 115 wherein the troubleshooting indication corresponds to the specific one of the plurality of application stations.

A system as set forth in claim 111 wherein the operator interface compares the product attribute parameter to a target and the indication of the product attribute displayed on the operator interface comprises an indication of a difference between the product attribute parameter and the target.
- 118. A system as set forth in claim 117 wherein the indication of the difference between the product attribute parameter and the target displayed on the operator interface comprises an alarm indication.

- 122. A system as set forth in claim 106 wherein the information exchange is configured for filtering the obtained product attribute parameter for disregarding unreliable product attribute parameters.

A system as set forth in claim 106 further comprising a database system, said database system being configured for storing a manufacturing parameter having a logical relationship to the product attribute parameter, wherein the information exchange further comprises a logic filter for correlating the product attribute parameter to the manufacturing parameters.

A system as set forth in claim 123 wherein the manufacturing parameter comprises a raw material data parameter identifying a characteristic of a raw material used for providing the first component part added by the multiple repeat application device wherein the information exchange or the operator interface identifies a data pattern between the correlated product attribute parameter and the raw material used for providing the first component part.

A system as set forth in claim 123 wherein the manufacturing parameter comprises a raw material data parameter identifying a characteristic of a raw material used for providing the first component part added by the multiple repeat application device so that a data pattern may be identified between the correlated product attribute parameter and the raw material used for providing the first component part.

A system as set forth in claim 123 wherein the manufacturing parameter comprises a quality data parameter identifying a quality characteristic associated with one or more composite products constructed during the production run, and wherein the information exchange or the operator interface identifies a data pattern between the correlated product attribute parameter and said quality data parameter.

A system as set forth in claim 123 wherein the manufacturing parameter comprises a quality data parameter identifying a quality characteristic associated with one or more composite products constructed during the production run, so that a data pattern may be identified between the correlated product attribute parameter and said quality data parameter.

A system as set forth in claim 123 wherein the manufacturing parameter comprises a productivity data parameter identifying a productivity characteristic associated with the production run, and wherein the information exchange or the operator interface identifies a data pattern between the correlated product attribute parameter and said productivity data parameter.

A system as set forth in claim 123 wherein the manufacturing parameter comprises a productivity data parameter identifying a productivity characteristic associated with the production run, so that a data pattern may be identified between the correlated product attribute parameter and said productivity data parameter.

A method for tracking information, said method being suitable for use in connection with a manufacturing production line constructing a composite product from a sequential addition of component parts during a production run, said manufacturing production line including a multiple repeat application device, said multiple repeat application device having a plurality of application stations, each of said plurality of application stations being configured for adding a first component part to a consecutive composite products being produced during a production run, said method comprising:
inspecting a process attribute of the production run at a first position in the manufacturing production line, said process attribute being associated with the first component part; determining a process attribute parameter being indicative of the inspected process attribute; and relating the process attribute parameter to a specific one of the plurality of application stations.
- 133. A method as set forth in claim 132 wherein the composite product comprises a disposable article and wherein inspecting the product attribute comprises detecting a position of the first component part.
- 134. A method as set forth in claim 132 wherein relating the product attribute parameter to the specific one of the plurality of application stations comprises storing the product attribute parameter in a buffer and indexing the stored product attribute parameter to the specific one of the plurality of application stations.
- 135. A system as set forth in claim 134 wherein the parameter stored in the buffer is used to calculate one or more mathematical characteristics of the corresponding product attribute.
- 136. A method as set forth in claim 132 wherein relating the product attribute parameter to the specific one of the plurality of application stations comprises storing the product attribute parameter in another buffer and indexing the stored product attribute parameter to another specific one of the plurality of application stations.
- 137. A method as set forth in claim 132 further comprising displaying an indication of the product attribute parameter on an operator interface associated with the manufacturing production line.
- 138. A method as set forth in claim 137 further comprising comparing the product attribute parameter to a target and wherein displaying the indication of the product attribute parameter to the operator interface associated with the manufacturing production line comprises displaying an indication of a difference between the product attribute parameter and the target.
- 139. A method as set forth in claim 138 wherein displaying the indication of the difference between the product attribute parameter and the target comprises displaying an alarm indication.
- 140. A method as set forth in claim 139 wherein displaying the alarm indication comprises correlating the alarm indication to the specific one of the plurality of application stations.
- 141. A method as set forth in claim 138 wherein displaying the indication of the difference between the product attribute parameter and the target comprises displaying a troubleshooting indication.
- 142. A method as set forth in claim 141 wherein displaying the troubleshooting indication comprises correlating the troubleshooting indication to the specific one of the plurality of application stations.
- 143. A method as set forth in claim 132 further comprising applying a filter to the determined product attribute parameter whereby unreliable product attribute parameters are disregarded.
- 144. A method as set forth in claim 132 further comprising:
providing a database system; populating said database system with a manufacturing parameter having a logical relationship to the product attribute parameter; and correlating the product attribute parameter with the manufacturing parameter.

A method as set forth in claim 144 wherein the manufacturing parameter comprises a raw material data parameter for identifying a characteristic of a raw material used for providing the first component part added by the multiple repeat application device, said method further comprising identifying a data pattern between the correlated product attribute parameter and the raw material used for providing the first component part.

A method as set forth in claim 144 wherein the manufacturing parameter comprises a quality data parameter for identifying a quality characteristic associated with one or more composite products constructed during the production run, said method further comprising identifying a data pattern between the correlated product attribute parameter and said quality data parameter.

A method as set forth in claim 144 wherein the manufacturing parameter comprises a productivity data parameter identifying a productivity characteristic associated with the production run, and said method further comprising identifying a data pattern between the correlated product attribute parameter and said productivity data parameter.
