Claims
- 1. A workstation for processing data and coupled to a font server via a transmission path, for processing font data from said font server having a plurality of font data, said font server for converting stored font data therein to required font data having a font format which is required by said workstation, comprising:
- a network control device for controlling to access instructions and parameters according to said instruction and font data between said font server and said workstation via said transmission path;
- a font cache memory for storing font data having font format and
- a font data control device for controlling to access said font cache memory, for detecting whether said font cache memory has required font data with required font format, for generating and outputting to said font server a request signal to access the required font data with the required font format if said font cache memory does not have the required font data with the required font data for receiving said required font data with the required font format from said font server, for outputting stored or received font data with the font format according to a result of said detecting;
- a graphic data memory for storing graphic data for display; and
- a main control device for controlling therein, for processing data and for storing said font data as graphic data in said graphic data memory.
- 2. A workstation according to claim 1, said font data control device including a font cache table for use in detecting whether said font cache memory has the required font data with the required font format.
- 3. A workstation according to claim 1, wherein said font data stored in said font cache memory is dot font data.
- 4. A workstation according to claim 1, wherein said font data stored in said font cache memory is dot font data.
- 5. A workstation according to claim 1, wherein said font data control device includes a font conversion device for converting said received font data with the font format from said font server to dot font data and for outputting said dot font data to said font cache memory.
- 6. A workstation according to claim 5, further comprising another font data control device for detecting whether said received font data is said dot font data or not and for converting said received font data according to said detecting result.
- 7. A workstation according to claim 1, wherein said main control device causes said graphic data memory to output said graphic data stored in said graphic data memory to an outputting device.
- 8. A workstation according to claim 7, wherein said outputting device is a display apparatus.
- 9. A workstation according to claim 7, wherein said outputting device is a printing apparatus.
- 10. A workstation for processing data, comprising:
- a font server device for storing a plurality of font data, for converting stored font data therein to font data required by said workstation;
- a transmission path for transmitting data or font data between said font server device of said workstation and other workstations;
- a network control device for controlling access to instructions and parameters for said instructions and for sending font data between said font server device and other workstations via said transmission path;
- a font cache memory for restoring font data having a font format; and
- a font data control device for controlling access to said font cache memory, for detecting whether said font cache memory has the required font data with the required font format, for generating and outputting to said font server a request signal to access the required font data with the required font format if said font cache memory does not have the required font data with the required font format for receiving said required font data with the required font format from said font server, for outputting stored or received font data with the font format according to result of said detecting;
- a graphic data memory for storing graphic data for display; and
- a main control device for controlling therein, for processing data and for storing said font data as graphic data in said graphic data memory.
- 11. A workstation according to claim 10, wherein said font data control device includes a font cache table for use in detecting whether said font cache memory has the required font data with the required font format.
- 12. A workstation according to claim 11, wherein said font data stored in said font cache memory is dot font data.
- 13. A workstation according to claim 10, wherein said font data stored in said font cache memory is dot font data.
- 14. A workstation according to claim 10, wherein said font data control device includes a font conversion device for converting said received font data with the font format from said font server to dot font data and for outputting said dot font to said font cache memory.
- 15. A workstation according to claim 14, further comprising another font data control device for detecting whether said received font data is said dot font data or not and for converting said received font data according to said detecting result.
- 16. A workstation according to claim 10, wherein said main control device causes said graphic data memory to output said graphic data stored in said graphic data memory to an outputting device.
- 17. A workstation according to claim 16, wherein said outputting device is a display apparatus.
- 18. A workstation according to claim 16, wherein said outputting device is a printing apparatus.
- 19. A printer for printing data or graphic data including font data and being coupled to a font server via a transmission path, for accessing font data from said font server having a plurality of font data, said font server for converting stored font data therein to required font data having a font format which is required by a workstation, comprising;
- a network control device for controlling access to instructions and parameters for said instruction and for sending font data between said font server and said font server and said workstation via said transmission path;
- a font cache memory for storing font data having a font format;
- a font data control device for controlling access to said font cache memory, for detecting whether said font cache memory has the required font data with the required font format, for generating and outputting to said font server a request signal to access the required font data with the required font format if said font cache memory does not have the required font data with the required font format for receiving said required font data with the required font format from said font server, for outputting stored or received font data with the font format according to result for said detecting;
- a graphic data memory for storing graphic data for printing out;
- a printing device for printing said graphic data stored in said graphic data memory on paper, and
- a main control device for controlling therein, for processing data and for controlling the graphic data memory to store said font data as graphic data in said graphic data memory and to output said graphic data to said printing device.
- 20. A printer according to claim 19, wherein said font data control device includes a font cache table for use in detecting whether said font cache memory has the required font data with the required font format.
- 21. A printer according to claim 20, wherein said font data stored in said font cache memory is dot font data.
- 22. A printer according to claim 19, wherein said font data stored in said font cache memory is dot font date.
- 23. A printer according to claim 19, wherein said font data control device includes a font conversion device for converting said received font data with a font format from said font server to dot font data and for outputting said dot font data to said font cache memory.
- 24. A printer according to claim 23, further comprising another font data control device for detecting whether said received font data is said dot font data or not and for converting said received font data according to said detecting result.
