Description
OBJECT OF THE INVENTION

The purpose of the present invention application is to register a system for connecting the waterproofing with a drain pipe in indoor wet areas, which incorporates notable innovations and advantages over the techniques used up until now.

More specifically, the invention proposes the development of a system for connecting the waterproofing with a drain pipe in indoor wet areas, which due to the particular arrangement thereof, allows for notable improvements to be incorporated with regard to the reliability in the connection between the waterproofing and the drain area, as well as simplicity and effectiveness in the assembly thereof.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

A large number of different connection systems with a drain pipe are known in the current state of the art, which can be used with prefabricated parts and panels for assembly in shower tray and similar areas, with different materials: fibre cement, plasterboard, composites with rigid foams of different nature and with different layers and surface finishes, etc.

Due to the standardisation of construction systems, drainage systems must comply with a series of requirements about dimensions and securement of the assembly and connection to the waterproofing of the entire floor area, which may be made up of panels and parts intended to provide a waterproof and uniform base for the subsequent paving of the area with ceramic tiles or similar, all of them sized in standard formats and widths and normatively regulated as for fluidic, physical and mechanical characteristics.

In the aforementioned state of the art, and especially in the American market, there are two different ways of connecting and securing the waterproofing to a drain pipe that evacuates water to the general plumbing installation, and which are usually called as follows:

    • Attachment with mechanical elements, or clamping ring.
    • Attachment by gluing/adhesive or bonding flange.

In the present invention, in order to provide connection means for connecting the waterproofing to a drain pipe of the sanitary installation itself, attachment by means of gluing/bonding, or bonding flange, is selected; which provides a safer and more durable watertight connection over time, without the need to make connection with mechanical means such as screw elements, among others, which complicates the assembly method, and also provides a higher overall cost of the system, due to having more components and consumables.

DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The present invention has been developed in order to provide a system for connecting the waterproofing with a drain pipe in indoor wet areas, suitable for being used in a main part of a drain that is in turn equipped with a discoidal plane wherein and on which a waterproofing sheet is positioned and attached, which comprises an adhesive sealing means enabled to be interposed between the aforementioned discoidal plane of the main part and the waterproofing sheet and said waterproofing sheet thus being arranged on and pressing on the adhesive sealing means, and comprising a secondary part and a securing ring, wherein the secondary part is in turn enabled for connecting and supporting a grid, wherein the securing ring is enabled to be arranged uniformly on the waterproofing sheet when said waterproofing sheet is pressing on the adhesive sealing means in turn arranged between said discoidal plane and the waterproofing sheet itself, both the secondary part and the securing ring being enabled for coupling and interlocking with each other.

Preferably, in the system for connecting the waterproofing with a drain pipe in indoor wet areas, the securing ring incorporates a perimeter gasket enabled for the arrangement and adjustment thereof between the main part and the securing ring itself.

Alternatively, in the system for connecting the waterproofing with a drain pipe in indoor wet areas, the grid is enabled for carrying and supporting a coating element that is visible in the drain.

Alternatively, in the system for connecting the waterproofing with a drain pipe in indoor wet areas, the grid itself incorporates a coating that is visible in the drain.

Alternatively, in the system for connecting the waterproofing with a drain pipe in indoor wet areas, the main part incorporates an adapter.

Due to the present invention, notable improvements are achieved with regard to the reliability in the connection between the waterproofing and a drain area, as well as simplicity and effectiveness in the assembly thereof.

The main advantage of the system for connecting the waterproofing with a drain pipe in indoor wet areas of the present invention lies in the fact that it can be adapted to a multitude of visible coating options, as well as in the fact that a waterproofing attachment system using adhesive, and not mechanical attachment, may be considered, which entails an optimisation of the assembly process, as well as the components required to do it (screw elements, etc. . . . ) that increase the cost of the entire system, as well as reduce the optimisation of methods and assembly times for this type of elements in facilities and/or wet areas, preferably in shower areas.

Through said attachment means for attaching the waterproofing and its connection with the drain area, the present invention provides a substantial advantage over the state of the art, in that the setting of the adhesive material, secured by the attachment of the securing ring and also by the perimeter gasket that it can incorporate provides a high-intensity, watertight and tamper-proof connection with optimal mechanical characteristics for the main application where the system of the present invention is intended to be used.

Additionally, the aforementioned adhesive attachment means provide greater reliability and speed in the installation operations of this type of parts, since, in approximately 20 minutes, the part can be correctly installed and attached in the operative position thereof while the state of the art, and with the application of other types of attachment and gluing means, requires assembly times for this type of parts which can be extended over several hours.

This is especially relevant in these applications where a mandatory surface leak test is required, so said test must be carried out once the system of the invention has been assembled and secured, so the assembling professional can perform the test itself minutes after assembly and setting, unlike state of the art systems, where the product requires several hours to be correctly attached, in order to start the aforementioned leak test, which substantially reduces construction times, for example in a shower area.

This technical improvement in the attachment of the system of the present invention by means of the aforementioned adhesive is very relevant with regard to the optimisation of the on-site assembly process of this type of parts, since currently, when the installer proceeds with the mechanical attachment of these prefabricated parts to the support structure, mechanical attachment elements such as screw elements, for example, may be required.

Logically, this attachment can cause a substantial weakening and even breakage of the waterproofing of the part, so, after carrying out said attachment with mechanical elements, the added task of securing the waterproofing of said insertion area for inserting screw elements must be carried out, in order not to cause a loss in the correct waterproofing, for example in a shower area, through said attachment points.

That is why the system of the present invention provides a very substantial optimisation of the assembly method for this type of system in wet facilities and areas, for example, in shower areas, to subsequently be able to install ceramic flooring or similar on said waterproofing base and in the drain area itself, with the technical and aesthetic advantages that this entails.

It is also important to note that this type of drain system for which the present invention is intended must provide a surface that is as flat and homogeneous as possible, to precisely ensure correct positioning of the visible coating parts, so that the features of the system of the present invention seek this technical and constructive milestone, in addition to providing very relevant advantages when it comes to the on-site assembly method of said system of the present invention.

Other features and advantages of the system for connecting the waterproofing with a drain pipe in indoor wet areas will be evident in light of the description of a preferred, but not exclusive, embodiment, which is illustrated by way of a non-limiting example in the drawings which are attached, in which:

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

FIGS. 1, 2 and 3 are views from different perspectives of a preferred embodiment of the system for connecting the waterproofing with a drain pipe in indoor wet areas of the present invention.

FIGS. 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 are views indicating different use options in different preferred embodiments of the system for connecting the waterproofing with a drain pipe in indoor wet areas of the present invention.

DESCRIPTION OF A PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

As FIGS. 1 and 2 schematically show, the system for connecting the waterproofing with a drain pipe in indoor wet areas of the proposed invention comprises a secondary part 2 and a securing ring 3, and is intended and suitable for use thereof in a main part 1 of a drain that is connected downstream over the drain pipe of a conventional plumbing installation.

The main part 1 is in turn equipped with a discoidal plane 11 wherein and on which a waterproofing sheet 4 is positioned and attached. Said waterproofing sheet 4 provides waterproofing of the floor of the sanitary installation itself and is subject to connection with the drain area itself. The system for connecting the waterproofing with a drain pipe in indoor wet areas of the present invention is intended and conceived to secure said connection.

As can be seen in FIG. 2, an adhesive sealing means 10 is also interposed between the aforementioned discoidal plane 11 of the main part 1 and the waterproofing sheet 4. This provides a watertight, safer and more durable connection over time, without the need to make connections with mechanical means such as screw elements, among others, which complicates the assembly method, and also causes a higher overall cost of the system, by having more components and consumables.

Moreover, as can also be seen in FIG. 2, the securing ring 3 is enabled for its uniform arrangement on the waterproofing sheet 4 when said waterproofing sheet 4 is pressing on the adhesive sealing means 10 in turn arranged between the aforementioned discoidal plane 11 and the waterproofing sheet 4 itself. This provides the required pressure so that the setting of the sealing adhesive means 10 that is used to attach the waterproofing sheet 4 on said main part 1 of the drain occurs in the most uniform and stable manner possible.

Likewise, both the secondary part 2 and the securing ring 3 are enabled for coupling and interlocking with each other, as can also be seen in FIG. 3.

In another embodiment of the invention, the securing ring 3 incorporates mechanical attachment means, intended to house any complementary mechanical attachment elements that the main part 1 incorporates, for the respective assembly thereof.

Preferably, said aforementioned mechanical attachment means can combine a bayonet type attachment, and comprise female elements 32 in the securing ring 3, which are mutually complementary with any male elements 12 incorporated in the main part 1, as seen in FIG. 8.

Also, as can be seen in FIG. 2, the securing ring 3 can incorporate a perimeter gasket 31 enabled for the arrangement and adjustment thereof between the main part 1 and the securing ring 3 itself. A watertight seal having a discoidal configuration is thus created, throughout the circular perimeter thereof, making the main part 1 fully watertight, and thereby facilitating wetness to always circulate along the desired main path, up to the main drain point.

In another embodiment of the invention, as seen in FIGS. 9 and 10, the securing ring 3 incorporates at least one through hole 33, which communicates with an inner cavity 34 provided between the main part 1 and the securing ring 3 itself. This provides an access means for accessing to said inner cavity 34, which can be filled with adhesive sealing material or other material with similar characteristics, all in order to create a watertight seal having a discoidal configuration, similar to the modality initially described, making the main part 1 fully watertight and, therefore, causing wetness to always circulate along the desired main route, to the main drain point.

Additionally, in order to facilitate the visualisation of the inside of said cavity between the main parts 1 and the securing ring 3, said ring 3 may have semi-transparent or translucent properties. Thus, the user can ensure the correct amount of sealing material that must be supplied, through at least one through hole 33, to completely fill said inner cavity 34 provided between the main part 1 and the securing ring 3.

The secondary part 2 is in turn enabled for connecting and supporting a grid 5, as well as for adjusting the height thereof.

More specifically, the placement of the secondary part 2 in any of the two orientations thereof allows the height of the grid 5 to be regulated in two differentiated positions, facilitating two constructive alternatives for the system of the present invention, according to two preferred embodiments that are shown in detail below.

The grid 5 can be the carrier and support of a ceramic coating trim element that is visible in the drain and that forms a uniform coating throughout the wet area, as can be seen in FIG. 4. In this case, the trim element is flush at the same height as the ceramic coating with which the entire floor in the wet area will be coated.

In another preferred embodiment, it is the grid 5 itself that incorporates a coating that is visible in the drain, being a visible trim grid 5, as seen in FIG. 5, which differentiates the drain area from the rest of the wet area and incorporating the corresponding visible coating according to the aesthetic choice of the user. In this case, the grid 5 is installed at the same height as the rest of the coating plane of the entire wet area itself.

Additionally, the secondary part 2 allows the position of the grid 5 to be adjusted in the horizontal plane, which provides a certain tolerance in the adjustment of said grid 5 to the desired position, and with this, it allows for any adjustment and flattening requirements thereof with the pieces of the coating material for coating the entire surface of the wet area, which extend to said drain area.

Moreover, the system for connecting the waterproofing with a drain pipe in indoor wet areas of the present invention can be used in drains the main part 1 of which may or may not incorporate an adapter 12 for the installation thereof.

Alternatively, in different embodiments of the present invention, it is anticipated that both the main part 1, the secondary part 2 and the securing ring 3 are sized and adapted to house a grid 5 having a linear format, as can be seen in FIGS. 5 and 7.

FIG. 1 and FIGS. 4 and 5 show the main part 1 with the adapter 12 thereof.

FIGS. 6 and 7 show the same arrangement as in FIGS. 4 and 5 respectively, but with the main part 1 without an adapter.
