Claims
- 1. An electronic device for distorting sensitive information in one or more electromagnetic emanations from the electronic device, the electronic device comprising:
one or more active layers having one or more electronic components that emit the electromagnetic emanations; and one or more conductive substrate layers planarity adjacent to one or more of the active layers that distort the electromagnetic emanations.
- 2. The device, as in claim 1, where one or more portions of the active layers emits the electromagnetic emanations and the conductive substrate layer only covers one or more of the portions.
- 3. The device, as in claim 2, where the portions emit the sensitive information.
- 4. The device, as in claim 1, where the conductive substrate layers comprise a metal.
- 5. The device, as in claim 4, where the metal is any one or more of the following: copper, silver, a metallic mesh, and gold.
- 6. The device, as in claim 1, where the conductive substrate is a conductive semi-conductor.
- 7. The device, as in claim 1, where the device further comprises an external shield.
- 8. The device, as in claim 7, where the external shield has one or more frequency selective apertures.
- 9. The device, as in claim 8, where the apertures are any one or more of the following shapes: a slot, a circle, a mesh, and a square.
- 10. The device, as in claim 7, where a frequency range is selected by a maximum dimension of the aperture.
- 11. The device, as in claim 1, further comprising:
one or more system internal signal sources that create an internal signal with a wave form and a frequency; and a signal shaper that distorts the internal signal.
- 12. The device, as in claim 11, where the signal shaper distorts a wave shape of the wave form.
- 13. The device, as in claim 12, where the signal shaper distorts the wave shape of the wave form by distorting the amplitude of one or more harmonics of the frequency where the harmonics carry the sensitive information.
- 14. The device, as in claim 11, where the signal shaper distorts a frequency of the wave form.
- 15. The device, as in claim 11, where the signal shaper distorts a phase of the wave form.
- 16. The device, as in claim 11, where the internal signal source includes any one or more of the following: a control signal, a data signal, and a clock signal.
- 17. The device for distorting one or more electromagnetic emanations from an electronic circuit comprising:
one or more system internal signal sources generated in the electronic circuit, the internal signal sources having a wave form and a frequency; and a signal shaper that distorts the internal signal.
- 18. The device, as in claim 17, where the signal shaper distorts a wave shape of the wave form.
- 19. The device, as in claim 18, where the signal shaper distorts the wave shape of the wave form by distorting the amplitude of one or more harmonics of the frequency where the harmonics carry the sensitive information.
- 20. The device, as in claim 17, where the signal shaper distorts a frequency of the wave form.
- 21. The device, as in claim 17, where the signal shaper distorts a phase of the wave form.
- 22. The device, as in claim 17, where the internal signal source includes any one or more of the following: a control signal, a data signal, and a clock signal.
- 23. An electronic device for distorting sensitive information in one or more electromagnetic emanations from the electronic device, the electronic device comprising:
one or more active layers having one or more electronic components that emit the electromagnetic emanations; and one or more external conductive layers external to the device, the external conducive layers distorting the electromagnetic emanations.
- 24. The device, as in claim 23, where the external shield has one or more frequency selective apertures.
- 25. The device, as in claim 24, where the apertures are any one or more of the following shapes: a slot, a circle, a mesh, and a square.
- 26. The device, as in claim 23, where a frequency range is selected by a maximum dimension of the aperture.
- 27. The device, as in claim 1, where the electronic emanations are produced by operations performed by the device.
