Claims
- 1. A securing device configured to be coupled to an object to facilitate the securing of an animal to the object with a lead line, the device comprising:
a mounting structure configured to couple the device to the object; and a plurality of spaced-apart members coupled with the mounting structure, wherein the plurality of spaced-apart members are configured to accept a length of the lead line in an interlaced fashion to frictionally retain the lead line.
- 2. The securing device of claim 1, further comprising a frame, wherein at least two of the spaced-apart members are sides of the frame.
- 3. The securing device of claim 2, wherein at least one other of the spaced-apart members is a retaining member coupled with the frame at a location between the sides of the frame.
- 4. The securing device of claim 3, wherein the retaining member has an elongate configuration.
- 5. The securing device of claim 3, wherein the retaining member is pivotally coupled with the frame and is configured to be pivoted between a open position configured to facilitate the attachment of the lead line, and a closed position configured to frictionally retain the lead line.
- 6. The securing device of claim 5, wherein the retaining member has opposing ends, wherein the retaining member is pivotally coupled with the frame at one end, and wherein the other end is in contact with the frame when the retaining member is in the closed position, and is not in contact with the frame when the retaining member is in the open position.
- 7. The securing device of claim 3, wherein the retaining member meets the frame at a corner, and wherein the retaining member is configured to drive the lead line into the corner when the lead line is pulled.
- 8. The securing device of claim 7, wherein the retaining member has a bent configuration.
- 9. The securing device of claim 3, wherein the retaining member is coupled with the frame in a fixed relation to the frame.
- 10. The securing device of claim 2, wherein the frame has a generally circular configuration.
- 11. The securing device of claim 2, wherein the frame has a generally polygonal configuration.
- 12. A securing device configured to be coupled to an object to facilitate the securing of an animal to the object with a lead line, the device comprising:
a frame, the frame having generally rigid, spaced-apart side portions; and a retaining member coupled with and extending from the frame between the side portions of the frame to allow the lead line to be interwoven between the side portions and the retaining member for frictional retention.
- 13. The securing device of claim 12, wherein the retaining member is pivotally coupled with the frame such that it is pivotable between an open position and a closed position, the open position being configured to facilitate insertion of the lead line into the device and the closed position being configured to frictionally retain the lead line.
- 14. The securing device of claim 12, wherein the retaining member is coupled with the frame in a fixed relation to the frame.
- 15. The securing device of claim 12, wherein the frame has a closed configuration.
- 16. The securing device of claim 15, wherein the frame has a generally curvilinear shape.
- 17. The securing device of claim 12, further comprising a mounting structure coupled with the frame, wherein the mounting structure is configured to be coupled to the object to mount the device to the object.
- 18. The securing device of claim 17, wherein the mounting structure includes a ring-shaped structure coupled to the frame.
- 19. A securing device configured to be coupled to an object to facilitate the securing of an animal to the object with a lead line, the device comprising:
a frame; and a retaining member coupled with the frame, the retaining member having a free end, wherein the lead line is attached to the securing device by placing a loop of the lead line at least partially through the frame and over the free end of the retaining member.
- 20. The securing device of claim 19, wherein the frame has a ring-shaped configuration.
- 21. The securing device of claim 19, wherein the retaining member is pivotally attached to the frame and is configured to be pivoted between an open position and a closed position.
- 22. The securing device of claim 21, wherein the free end of the retaining member is in contact with the frame when the retaining member is in the closed position, and wherein the free end of the retaining member is not in contact with the frame when the retaining member is in the open position.
- 23. The securing device of claim 19, wherein the retaining member is coupled with the frame in a fixed relation to the frame.
- 24. A securing device configured to be coupled to an object to facilitate the securing of an animal to the object with a lead line, the device comprising:
a mounting structure configured to couple the device to the object; and a plurality of spaced-apart members coupled with the mounting structure, wherein the plurality of spaced-apart members are configured to accept a length of the lead line in an interlaced fashion to frictionally retain the lead line, and wherein the spaced-apart members are spaced such that the amount of friction exerted against the lead line by the spaced-apart members is variable as a function of the thickness of the lead line.
- 25. The securing device of claim 24, wherein the plurality of spaced-apart members are configured to exert less friction against a thinner lead line and to exert more friction against a thicker lead line.
