Claims
- 1. A system for treatment of a tissue, the system comprising:(a) a laser source; (b) a catheter having: (i) an optical waveguide operatively connected to the laser source; (ii) a position sensor for generating position signals relating to a distal end of the catheter; (iii) an electrode for generating signals relating to viability of the tissue; (c) signal processing circuitry for processing the position signals for determining position coordinates of the distal end of the catheter and the signals relating to viability of the tissue for determining a viability map of the tissue; and (d) a display for displaying the viability map.
- 2. The system according to claim 1, wherein the viability map includes electrophysiological data.
- 3. The system according to claim 2, wherein the viability map includes biomechanical data.
- 4. The system according to claim 1, wherein the laser source is pulsed.
- 5. The system according to claim 4, wherein the laser source is Ho:YAG.
- 6. The system according to claim 5, wherein the signal processing circuitry also determines orientation coordinates for the distal end of the catheter.
- 7. The system according to claim 1, wherein the position sensor is a magnetic field-responsive sensor.
- 8. The system according to claim 7, wherein the position sensor is an ultrasound sensor.
- 9. The system according to claim 7, further comprising a reference element for establishing a frame of reference for the position sensor.
- 10. The system according to claim 1, wherein the tissue is in a patient's heart.
