Claims
- 1. In an RF access control system, a method for system management, said method comprising:
transmitting system configuration information to an RF access control system; and adjusting settings of components in said RF access control system based on said configuration information.
- 2. The method of claim 1, further comprising connecting a data port of said RF access control system to a system management interface.
- 3. The method of claim 1, further comprising retrieving at least one of system settings and system status from said RF access control system.
- 4. The method of claim 1, wherein said transmitting step comprises transmitting said system configuration information using a wired communication link.
- 5. The method of claim 1, wherein said transmitting step comprises transmitting said system configuration information using an RF communication link.
- 6. The method of claim 1, wherein said adjusting step comprises adjusting settings of a wireless access point module.
- 7. The method of claim 1, wherein said configuration information includes at least one of heartbeat time, relock time, re-latch, conversion, signal polarity, extended unlock, channel selection, re-try, re-query, indicator control, and request to exit.
- 8. The method of claim 1, wherein said configuration information includes at least one of status information, address information, and link information.
- 9. The method of claim 1, further comprising testing at least one of system settings and system status.
- 10. The method of claim 1, further comprising encrypting said configuration information to provide secure communication.
- 11. An RF access control system including:
a wireless panel interface module, said wireless panel interface module transmitting RF access control system component settings to a system management interface and receiving configuration information from said system management interface; and a system management interface for retrieving component settings from said wireless panel interface module and generating configuration information to adjust said settings.
- 12. The system of claim 11, wherein said wireless panel interface module further transmits said configuration information to components of said RF access control system.
- 13. The system of claim 11, further comprising a wireless access point module, said wireless access point module receiving configuration information from said wireless panel interface module via an RF communication link.
- 14. The system of claim 13, wherein an access processor adjusts settings of said wireless access point module based on said configuration information.
- 15. The system of claim 11, wherein a control processor adjusts settings of said wireless panel interface module based on said configuration information.
- 16. The system of claim 11, wherein said configuration information includes at least one of heartbeat time, relock time, re-latch, conversion, signal polarity, extended unlock, channel selection, re-try, re-query, indicator control, and request to exit.
- 17. The system of claim 11, wherein said configuration information includes at least one of status information, address information, and link information.
- 18. The system of claim 11, wherein said system management interface at least one of monitors and tests at least one of system settings and system status.
- 19. The system of claim 11, further comprising encryption information for secure transmission of at least one of component settings and configuration information.
- 20. The system of claim 13, further comprising an access point controlled by said wireless access point module.
