Claims
- 1. An internally threaded pipe box having an internal shoulder adapted to engage an externally threaded pin threadedly engaged in said box, said box being adapted for deploying a data resource, comprising:an annular groove formed in said shoulder concentrically with said pipe box, said annular groove having a first cross sectional configuration, an annular containment ring disposed in said groove, said containment ring having a second cross sectional configuration adapted to cooperate with said first cross sectional configuration of said groove to maintain said containment ring within said groove, and a data communication component carried in said containment ring and maintained in said groove by said containment ring.
- 2. A pipe box as defined in claim 1 wherein said shoulder is formed centrally within an internally threaded coupling to form a pipe box at each axial end of said coupling.
- 3. An internally threaded pipe box having an internal shoulder adapted to engage an externally threaded pin threadedly engaged in said box, said box being adapted for deploying a data resource, comprising:an annular groove formed in said shoulder concentrically with said pipe box, said annular groove having a first cross sectional configuration, an annular containment ring disposed in said groove, said containment ring having a second cross sectional configuration adapted to cooperate with said first cross sectional configuration of said groove to maintain said containment ring within said groove, a data communication component carried in said containment ring and maintained in said groove by said containment ring, and wherein said containment ring is provided with a radially reduce section for permitting temporary radial collapse of said ring for insertion into said groove.
- 4. A pipe box as defined in claim 3 wherein said containment ring includes an annular recess for receiving said data communication component.
- 5. An internally threaded pipe box having an internal shoulder adapted to engage an externally threaded pin threadedly engaged in said box, said box being adapted for deploying a data resource, comprising:an annular groove formed in said shoulder concentrically with said pipe box, said annular groove having a first cross sectional configuration, an annular containment ring disposed in said groove, said containment ring having a second cross sectional configuration adapted to cooperate with said first cross sectional configuration of said groove to maintain said containment ring within said groove, a data communication component carried in said containment ring and maintained in said groove by said containment ring, and wherein said first and second cross sectional configurations are dovetails whereby said containment ring is retained within said groove.
