Claims
- 1. A method for interactively manipulating a graphical hierarchy including a plurality of nodes, said method comprising:
selecting a second node in the hierarchy, wherein the second node is different from a first node; providing a view of the hierarchy wherein the second node is the root node; and wherein selection of one of the plurality of nodes can invoke a context-sensitive editor for information associated with the node.
- 2. The method of claim 1, further comprising:
restoring an original view of the hierarchy.
- 3. The method of claim 1, further comprising:
selecting a third node in the hierarchy, wherein the third node is different from the first node and the second node; and providing a view of the hierarchy wherein the third node is the root node.
- 4. The method of claim 3, further comprising:
restoring a previous view of the hierarchy.
- 5. The method of claim 1 wherein:
the plurality of nodes represents information pertaining to portal resources.
- 6. The method of claim 1 wherein:
the view of the hierarchy is part of a portal administration tool.
- 7. A method for interactively manipulating a graphical hierarchy including a plurality of nodes, said method comprising:
selecting a second node in the hierarchy, wherein the second node is different from a first node; providing a view of the hierarchy wherein the second node is the root node; wherein selection of one of the plurality of nodes can invoke a context-sensitive editor for information associated with the node; and wherein the plurality of nodes represents information pertaining to portal resources; and wherein the view of the hierarchy is part of a portal administration tool.
- 8. The method of claim 7, further comprising:
restoring an original view of the hierarchy.
- 9. The method of claim 7, further comprising:
selecting a third node in the hierarchy, wherein the third node is different from the first node and the second node; and providing a view of the hierarchy wherein the third node is the root node.
- 10. The method of claim 9, further comprising:
restoring a previous view of the hierarchy.
- 11. An interactive tool for interactively manipulating a graphical hierarchy including a plurality of nodes, said method comprising:
means for selecting a first node in the hierarchy, wherein the first node is different from a root node; a graphical user interface (GUI) for providing a view of the hierarchy wherein the first node is the root node; and wherein selection of one of the plurality of nodes can invoke a context-sensitive editor for information associated with the node.
- 12. The method of claim 11 wherein:
the GUI can restore an original view of the hierarchy.
- 13. The method of claim 11 wherein:
if a second node in the hierarchy is selected, the GUI can provide a view of the hierarchy wherein the second node is the root node; and wherein the second node is a child of the first node.
- 14. The method of claim 13 wherein:
the GUI can restore a previous view of the hierarchy.
- 15. The method of claim 11 wherein:
the plurality of nodes represents information pertaining to portal resources.
- 16. The method of claim 11 wherein:
the view of the hierarchy is part of a portal administration tool.
- 17. A machine readable medium having instructions stored thereon that when executed by a processor cause a system to:
select a first node in the hierarchy, wherein the first node is different from a root node; provide a view of the hierarchy wherein the first node is the root node; and wherein selection of one of the plurality of nodes can invoke a context-sensitive editor for information associated with the node.
- 18. The method of claim 17, further comprising instructions that when executed cause the system to:
restore an original view of the hierarchy.
- 19. The method of claim 17, further comprising instructions that when executed cause the system to:
select a second node in the hierarchy, wherein the second node is a child of the first node; and provide a view of the hierarchy wherein the second node is the root node.
- 20. The method of claim 19, further comprising instructions that when executed cause the system to:
restore a previous view of the hierarchy.
- 21. The method of claim 17 wherein:
the plurality of nodes represents information pertaining to portal resources.
- 22. The method of claim 17 wherein:
the view of the hierarchy is part of a portal administration tool.
- 23. A computer data signal embodied in a transmission medium, comprising:
a code segment including instructions to select a first node in the hierarchy, wherein the first node is different from a root node; a code segment including instructions to provide a view of the hierarchy wherein the first node is the root node; and wherein selection of one of the plurality of nodes can invoke a context-sensitive editor for information associated with the node.
