Abstract
An embodiment is disclosed for facilitating a writing project using astrology, the writing project concerning at least one of a character, object, place, and event, by determining a date, a time, and a place of birth for the at least one of a character, object, place, and event; acquiring an astrological chart based on the date, the time, and the place of birth for the at least one of a character, object, place, and event, wherein the astrological chart comprises twelve houses situated along a path of an ecliptic; transposing the astrological chart on a storyboard to create an astrological story map by delineating, for each house, a cusp and any planets on the storyboard, beginning on an ascendant in direction east on the astrological chart, and moving along the path of the ecliptic, such that each house represents a section of the writing project; replacing, for any planets on the astrological story map, each planet with at least one of a correlating character, correlating object, correlating place, and correlating event, such that each of the at least one of a correlating character, correlating object, correlating place, and correlating event interacts with the at least one of a character, object, place, and event in one section of the writing project; and providing the astrological story map to an author of the writing project.
Description
TECHNICAL FIELD

This disclosure relates to methods and systems for using astrology as tools to provide practical and tangible solutions to everyday problems in life, work, and art. In particular, various embodiments use and integrate birth data of people, places, things, and events to create tangible products including, but not limited to, outlines, stories, novels, reports, business plans, life plans, management methods, conflict resolutions, and musical compositions.

BACKGROUND

Astrology is the study of how the positions of the stars and planets have an influence on events and on the lives and behavior of people. Astrology may be considered both a science and an art form. For thousands of years, scientists, philosophers, and laypeople have looked to the skies for answers. They have calculated and measured the motions of the heavens in order to better understand the events taking place on Earth. Through the centuries, from the days of Babylonia, known to be the birthplace of astrology, humanity has attempted to bring order to the seemingly unpredictable and chaotic world around them. Many cultures have formulated their own versions and tools for the practice and use of astrology; unique versions of astrology have incarnated from Tibet, India, China, the Middle East, Africa, the Americas, and Europe. But they all share a common denominator as their foundation—the path of the sun through the ecliptic of the sky throughout the day and, most importantly, the year. The ecliptic is the great circle formed by the intersection of the plane of the earth's orbit with the celestial sphere, along which are located the twelve houses and signs of the zodiac.

Astrology uses the astronomical cycle of the stars and archetypal data collected by humanity over the course of thousands of years. Data collected from the patterns in the skies that correlate to events on Earth were used to formulate the standard language of ancient and modern astrology. Planets took on representations of the human psyche and became archetypal symbols just as the astrological signs became representative of the elemental qualities and time of year the planets transited around the sun and globe. The elements (also called signs) of nature are Fire, Water, Air, and Earth. These elements or signs are the building blocks of the twelve zodiac signs. Each zodiac sign corresponds to a major area of an individual's life called a house. Each house has a beginning point called the cusp. The archetypal planets rule the corresponding signs and houses. In most astrological chart systems, the sign located on the cusps determine which planet rules a particular house in an astrology chart and therefore controls that area of life for an individual.

Astronomy and astrology converge in the development of the natal chart (also known as the birth chart). Using an individual's date, time, and location of birth, the natal chart provides a snapshot of the locations of the celestial bodies in the sky at the moment of an individual's birth. The traditional Western natal chart is represented by a circle, which contains twelve equal sections that represent the twelve zodiac signs or houses of astrology.

Although there are generalized indicators that allow an astrologer to determine which areas of life are being activated in an individual's chart, the specifics of who or what represents common themes in the individual's life (e.g., mother, father, sibling, etc.) are difficult to ascertain and can provide a limitation to the astrologer. As diverse as we are in society, we are still limited to constraints that are set forth by the rules of what we consider to be mothers, fathers, and siblings. Although these common themes are common for a reason, evolutionarily, an individual's reality can be more complex. In the analysis of the modern natal chart, a mother can represent an enemy figure or a sibling figure and not just a mother; therefore, the modern use of the chart can provide limitations. Although these connections can be made through aspects, a deeper analysis can be gained when the decider of the symbol is put into the hands of the individual whose chart we analyze as opposed to the normative construct indicated by the representations given to the planets, signs, and houses.

Historically, astrology was used as a means to create tangible solutions for the survival of humanity. In ancient times, the path of the sun through the sky determined when to plant, grow, and harvest crops. It also helped the ancients predict and respond to certain events.

In modern times, however, astrology has become more of a tool for entertainment purposes. Some people use astrology to better understand their character traits, behaviors, and patterns. Most people know their astrological sun sign and its corresponding character traits even if they do not associate with or understand a deeper meaning. An astrologer may provide advice or guidance; however, their guidance is typically limited to universal archetypes of the planetary bodies rather than addressing an individual's unique situation.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

What distinguishes embodiments disclosed herein from the modern use of astrology is the added layer of interpretation that is more specific and intimate for the individual and/or the astrologer. In the practice of acupuncture, a cold is not just a cold; the practitioner must assess the patient on an individual pathological level to determine the type of cold that is specific to that individual in order to provide an effective treatment. Treating one patient's cold the same as another can have adverse effects. In this same way, some embodiments embed the overall themes of the planets, signs, and houses into the intimate life of the individual. No longer will planetary symbols such as Mercury just represent communication for the individual. Planetary symbols and themes will also represent the real life person, place, place, thing, event, character, etc., on which the individual imposes these planetary symbols and associated themes. This provides a deeper analysis of the individual's life where specifics can be identified for actions or solutions.

According to some embodiments, astrology is used much like the ancients used it—as a means of creating tangible solutions to problems. Various fields of astrology are evolving that aim to tackle evolutionary questions and problems. In some embodiments, the traditional natal chart is used to reconstruct new charting systems that are aligned with the problem one aims to solve in a new and more intimate way as seen in the first embodiment. It correlates people, places, things, events in life (real or fictional that are specific to the individual), to planetary archetypes, signs and houses in a natal or other chart and creates tangible products including, without limitation, novels, documentaries, health plans, psychological analyses, business plans, life plans, marketing plans, musical compositions, etc.

According to some embodiments, a writing tool for a novel, story, screenplay, documentary, memoir, play, or other written product is provided. A writer enters the date, time, and place of birth of the work, a character, place, object or event and creates a traditional natal chart. A circular natal chart is used as an example, but any other astrological charting systems may be used to create a natal chart including Vedic astrology as well as various housing system used such as Equal Houses, Campanus, Regiomontanus, Natural, Whole Sign, Porphyry, Koch, Placidus, etc. The chart in FIG. 23 shows the planets and signs as a snapshot in the natal chart at the time of birth of the individual, character, event, object, business, etc. The inner lines indicate the aspects or angle of each planet in relation to each other.

Questions for the planetary grid are specific to the industry or product that a solution is being sought. Archetypal questions are created that correlate to and are specific to the type of answers the writer needs, for example, questions should be about characters. TABLE 1, below, shows an example planetary archetype grid according to some embodiments.

The characters, places, things or events take the place of the planets, houses and signs in the new map. In the natal chart, the character of C1 will take the place of the Sun, Leo, and the 5th house. This is repeated with all celestial bodies and their corresponding character, person, thing, etc. A character that is designated to a planet is also designated to the planet's natural house and sign in the new astrological chart system, referred to herein as “physical astrology.” TABLE 3, below, shows a planetary legend for a physical astrology story map according to some embodiments.

In fictional writing, a W storyboarding map structure is often used to create an outline as seen in FIG. 24. The map has five points (circles) that are drawn at major turning points of the story. The upper circles/markers on the W map denote area where the three-act rule of story writing intersects. The lower circles on the W map denote major turning points in the story (A). The first circle is the beginning of Act I, the triggering event that begins the story and an arrow is drawn leading down to the second circle indicating the setup of the problem(s) in the fictional story (B). The second circle on the map indicates the first trigger that forces the character to invest in the resolution of problem. This moment has an arrow leading towards the third circle and the intersection of Act II (C). The third circle depicts the turning of the story and leads downward on the W storyboard map to the fourth circle. This indicates a deepening and worsening of the problem that leads to the fourth circle (D). The fourth circle begins at the lowest point of the story and has an arrow moving upward on the W map towards the 5th and final circle. It shows the manner in which the problem is resolved and the end of the third Act (E).

The natal chart is then transposed onto the W or other storyboarding map. Other writing methods can be transposed onto the map to create tools for various genres in fiction and nonfiction writing.

The cusps of each house are delineated on the W story boarding map beginning from ascendant. The 12th house of the astrological chart takes position immediately following the first circle (ascendant) on the W storyboard map.

The first circle of the W map begins on the ascendant in the east on an astrological chart. This is the beginning of the novel. The sign and its ruler on the ascendant indicate the character that is involved in the activating event of the novel. Any means of astrological interpretation and knowledge applies in the process of analysis.

Moving along the path of the sun as seen in FIGS. 25-27. The astrological chart and the W storyboard map are transposed on each other beginning with the line of the ascendant then house 12. Houses 11, 10, 9, 87, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1 are placed along the delineated W storyboard map respectively. Houses 10, 7, 4 and 1 fill the position of the circles (literal turning points on the W storyboard map as well as the astrological chart of the work and characters).

Each house on the new Planetary Write story map (PW-SM) represents a section or a chapter of the work. Each house also corresponds to a planet and a planetary body. Because there are 12 houses in the astrological chart indicating the complete cycle of the day and the year, there are 12 sections or chapter in the work total. A section is created based on the authors/creator's needs. There can be multiple chapters within a section or simply twelve chapters total but each house in an astrological chart does represent each section or chapter on the PW-SM.

Planets in signs found in each house of the astrological chart are also placed in their corresponding section on the PW story map. Where there are no planets, signs remain filling the entire storyboard with either a sign or a planet in a sign.

Planets in a sign in a house on the [invented PW story map are replaced by the character, place, thing or event they correlate to indicated in FIG. 27. The new map/chart shows a character (planet) performing an act on or with another character (sign) in or through the (house), a third character that has been delineated on the PW story map. The new PW story map can be read on multiple levels of awareness; through the astrological meaning and the meaning in the interaction between characters, place and things. Transits and aspects of planets in houses traveling through the map add yet another level to the understanding of the work (see, e.g., FIG. 27). In astrology, a transit is the continuous motion of the heavenly bodies around the astrological chart. Aspects are drawn between planets in signs (character relationships) within each chapter that indicate chapter-to-chapter connections between planets and signs (characters). Aspects are how the planets relate and interrelate with each other.

Similar charts are created for every character involved in the story by imputing the birth data to obtain their own unique chart. The archetypal data first provided for the novel is used to populate the chart of every new character, place, event or things related to the specific novel. The unique chart of the individual characters denotes that character's point of view in the story or work. New archetypal questions are created and answered by the author/writer when it has to do with development of the character's life or development of the world that is specific to the character or world.

According to some embodiments, a unique template, map, chart, and/or other tool may be created to aid specific industries and lifestyles using various software, hardware, or other technologies. For example, embodiments may be utilized in business, science/research, psychology, marketing, sales, finance and accounting, health/medicine/acupuncture and alternative medicine, every industry and professions, development of artificial intelligence, used to build new technology. Embodiments may be executed manually or through all current and future technologies such as the creation of web integrated software and applications, computer compatible software and applications, applications for user interface such as smart phones, notebooks, iPads, Google glass and all other personal computing technologies.

Business, Marketing, Sales and Event Planning

To assist businesses, a business can create a traditional natal chart for the inception of the business, or a specific project, using the birth data, i.e., birth date, time and place of birth, of an event.

The processor and the memory can be supplemented by, or incorporated in, special purpose logic circuitry.

Also, a computer may have one or more input and output devices. These devices can be used, among other things, to present a user interface (e.g., graphical user interface). To provide for interaction with a user, the subject matter described herein can be implemented on a computer having a display device (e.g., a CRT (cathode ray tube) monitor, LCD (liquid crystal display) monitor, or printer) for displaying information to the user and a keyboard and/or a pointing device (e.g., a mouse, touch pad, trackball, or touch screen), by which the user can provide input to the computer. As another example, a computer may receive input information through speech recognition or in other audible format. Other kinds of devices can be used to provide for interaction with a user as well. For example, feedback provided to the user can be any form of sensory feedback, (e.g., visual feedback, auditory feedback, or tactile feedback), and input from the user can be received in any form, including acoustic, speech, or tactile input.

The subject matter described herein can be implemented in a computing system that includes a back end component (e.g., a data server), a middleware component (e.g., an application server), or a front end component (e.g., a client computer having a graphical user interface or a web browser through which a user can interact with an implementation of the subject matter described herein), or any combination of such back end, middleware, and front end components. The components of the system can be interconnected by any form or medium of digital data communication, e.g., a communication network. Examples of communication networks include a local area network (“LAN”) and a wide area network (“WAN”), such as an enterprise network, an intelligent network (IN), or the Internet. Such networks may be based on any suitable technology and may operate according to any suitable protocol and may include wireless networks, wired networks, or fiber optic networks.

The processes and logic flows described in this specification, including the method steps of the subject matter described herein, can be performed by one or more programmable processors executing one or more computer programs to perform functions of the subject matter described herein by operating on input data and generating output. The various methods or processes outlined herein may be coded as software that is executable on one or more processors that employ any one of a variety of operating systems or platforms. Additionally, such software may be written using any of a number of suitable programming languages and/or programming or scripting tools, and also may be compiled as executable machine language code or intermediate code that is executed on a framework or virtual machine. The processes and logic flows can also be performed by, and apparatus of the subject matter described herein can be implemented as, special purpose logic circuitry, e.g., an FPGA (field programmable gate array) or an ASIC (application specific integrated circuit).

Also, various inventive concepts may be embodied as one or more methods, of which an example has been provided. The acts performed as part of the method may be ordered in any suitable way. Accordingly, embodiments may be constructed in which acts are performed in an order different than illustrated, which may include performing some acts simultaneously, even though shown as sequential acts in illustrative embodiments.

All publications, patent applications, patents, and other references mentioned herein are incorporated by reference in their entirety.

All definitions, as defined and used herein, should be understood to control over dictionary definitions, definitions in documents incorporated by reference, and/or ordinary meanings of the defined terms.

The indefinite articles “a” and “an,” as used herein in the specification and in the claims, unless clearly indicated to the contrary, should be understood to mean “at least one.”

The phrase “and/or,” as used herein in the specification and in the claims, should be understood to mean “either or both” of the elements so conjoined, i.e., elements that are conjunctively present in some cases and disjunctively present in other cases. Multiple elements listed with “and/or” should be construed in the same fashion, i.e., “one or more” of the elements so conjoined. Other elements may optionally be present other than the elements specifically identified by the “and/or” clause, whether related or unrelated to those elements specifically identified. Thus, as a non-limiting example, a reference to “A and/or B”, when used in conjunction with open-ended language such as “comprising” can refer, in one embodiment, to A only (optionally including elements other than B); in another embodiment, to B only (optionally including elements other than A); in yet another embodiment, to both A and B (optionally including other elements); etc.

As used herein in the specification and in the claims, “or” should be understood to have the same meaning as “and/or” as defined above. For example, when separating items in a list, “or” or “and/or” shall be interpreted as being inclusive, i.e., the inclusion of at least one, but also including more than one, of a number or list of elements, and, optionally, additional unlisted items. Only terms clearly indicated to the contrary, such as “only one of” or “exactly one of,” or, when used in the claims, “consisting of” will refer to the inclusion of exactly one element of a number or list of elements. In general, the term “or” as used herein shall only be interpreted as indicating exclusive alternatives (i.e. “one or the other but not both”) when preceded by terms of exclusivity, such as “either,” “one of” “only one of” or “exactly one of” “Consisting essentially of,” when used in the claims, shall have its ordinary meaning as used in the field of patent law.

As used herein in the specification and in the claims, the phrase “at least one,” in reference to a list of one or more elements, should be understood to mean at least one element selected from any one or more of the elements in the list of elements, but not necessarily including at least one of each and every element specifically listed within the list of elements and not excluding any combinations of elements in the list of elements. This definition also allows that elements may optionally be present other than the elements specifically identified within the list of elements to which the phrase “at least one” refers, whether related or unrelated to those elements specifically identified. Thus, as a non-limiting example, “at least one of A and B” (or, equivalently, “at least one of A or B,” or, equivalently “at least one of A and/or B”) can refer, in one embodiment, to at least one, optionally including more than one, A, with no B present (and optionally including elements other than B); in another embodiment, to at least one, optionally including more than one, B, with no A present (and optionally including elements other than A); in yet another embodiment, to at least one, optionally including more than one, A, and at least one, optionally including more than one, B (and optionally including other elements); etc.

In the claims, as well as in the specification above, all transitional phrases such as “comprising,” “including,” “carrying,” “having,” “containing,” “involving,” “holding,” “composed of,” and the like are to be understood to be open-ended, i.e., to mean including but not limited to. Only the transitional phrases “consisting of” and “consisting essentially of” shall be closed or semi-closed transitional phrases, respectively, as set forth in the United States Patent Office Manual of Patent Examining Procedures, Section 2111.03.

It is to be understood that the disclosed subject matter is not limited in its application to the details of construction and to the arrangements of the components set forth in the following description or illustrated in the drawings. The disclosed subject matter is capable of other embodiments and of being practiced and carried out in various ways. Also, it is to be understood that the phraseology and terminology employed herein are for the purpose of description and should not be regarded as limiting.

As such, those skilled in the art will appreciate that the conception, upon which this disclosure is based, may readily be utilized as a basis for the designing of other structures, methods, and systems for carrying out the several purposes of the disclosed subject matter. It is important, therefore, that the claims be regarded as including such equivalent constructions insofar as they do not depart from the spirit and scope of the disclosed subject matter.
