A wide variety of potential practical and useful embodiments will be more readily understood through the following detailed description of certain exemplary embodiments, with reference to the accompanying exemplary drawings in which:
Certain exemplary embodiments provide a locking device for attaching to a garbage can to stop bears, raccoons or other animals from getting to the contents of the can. The locking device also stops garbage can covers from coming off due to high winds.
Certain exemplary embodiments can provide a system that comprises locking device. The locking device comprises a strap, a two piece buckle, and a pair of fasteners. The strap comprises a first segment and a second segment. Each of the first segment and the second segment comprises a first end and a second end. The first end of each of the first segment and the second segment defines an aperture. The locking device is constructed to couple a lid of a garbage can to a body of the garbage can
The locking device comprises webbing straps, buckles, and fasteners. The fasteners can comprise either screws, rivets, and/or nuts and bolts, etc. The locking device is used in the securing of various garbage receptacle lids.
Certain exemplary embodiments can be used with rolling cart residential and commercial garbage containers with hinged lids. Certain exemplary embodiments can be utilized to lock non-hinged lids.
Often, garbage cans is secured is with an elastic cord. These cords do not fully secure the lid. Such cords can hold a degree of tension, which when released can have a potential to injure a garbage can owner or trash collector. In addition such cords can take multiple hands to secure the garbage can. Other securements for garbage can lids comprise hasp locks, which can be relatively difficult to install and to use on a daily basis.
Certain exemplary embodiments utilize a set of web straps and buckles. Ends of the web straps are secured to the top and side (e.g., front) of the container. The web straps are short enough and installed with minimal give to allow the ease of closing the buckles, while not allowing enough room for an animal such as a bear to gain enough leverage to open the lid.
Certain exemplary embodiments can provide a system that comprises locking device 4000. Locking device 4000 comprises strap 4100, two piece buckle 4200, and a pair of fasteners 4400. Strap 4100 comprises a first segment 4120 and a second segment 4140. Each of first segment 4120 and second segment 4140 comprises a first end (first segment first end 4110 and second segment first end 4150) and a second end (first segment second end 4130 and second segment second end 4160). The first end of each of first segment 4120 and second segment 4140 define apertures 4300. Locking device 4000 is constructed to couple a lid (see lid 1120 of
A first piece 4220 of two piece buckle 4200 can be fixedly coupled to first segment second end 4130. A second piece 4240 of two piece buckle 4200 can be fixedly coupled to second segment second end 4160.
A first fastener 4420 of pair of fasteners 4400 is constructed to couple the first segment first end 4110 to a lid of a garbage can (see garbage can 1100 of
The buckle can be a dual side release buckle as illustrated in locking device 4000.
One of pair of grommets 4320 can be coupled to each of: (1) first segment first end 4110 to reinforce an aperture defined by first segment first end 4110; and (2) second segment first end 4150 to reinforce an aperture defined by second segment first end 4150.
Locking device 4000 can be one of a plurality of locking devices securing the lid (see lid 1120 of
When the following terms are used substantively herein, the accompanying definitions apply. These terms and definitions are presented without prejudice, and, consistent with the application, the right to redefine these terms during the prosecution of this application or any application claiming priority hereto is reserved. For the purpose of interpreting a claim of any patent that claims priority hereto, each definition (or redefined term if an original definition was amended during the prosecution of that patent), functions as a clear and unambiguous disavowal of the subject matter outside of that definition.
Still other substantially and specifically practical and useful embodiments will become readily apparent to those skilled in this art from reading the above-recited and/or herein-included detailed description and/or drawings of certain exemplary embodiments. It should be understood that numerous variations, modifications, and additional embodiments are possible, and accordingly, all such variations, modifications, and embodiments are to be regarded as being within the scope of this application.
Thus, regardless of the content of any portion (e.g., title, field, background, summary, description, abstract, drawing figure, etc.) of this application, unless clearly specified to the contrary, such as via explicit definition, assertion, or argument, with respect to any claim, whether of this application and/or any claim of any application claiming priority hereto, and whether originally presented or otherwise:
Moreover, when any number or range is described herein, unless clearly stated otherwise, that number or range is approximate. When any range is described herein, unless clearly stated otherwise, that range includes all values therein and all subranges therein. For example, if a range of 1 to 10 is described, that range includes all values therebetween, such as for example, 1.1, 2.5, 3.335, 5, 6.179, 8.9999, etc., and includes all subranges therebetween, such as for example, 1 to 3.65, 2.8 to 8.14, 1.93 to 9, etc.
When any claim element is followed by a drawing element number, that drawing element number is exemplary and non-limiting on claim scope. No claim of this application is intended to invoke paragraph six of 35 USC 112 unless the precise phrase “means for” is followed by a gerund.
