Claims
- 1. An apparatus, for securing a cleaning fabric to a take-up shaft for use in a cylinder cleaning device, comprising:
a first member and a second member, the first member having a planar section, a first end and a second end such that the first end is larger than the second end, the second member, having a proximal end and a distal end, such that the distal end is larger than the proximal end, wherein the overall length of the second member is smaller than that of the first member, and the second member is disposed over the first member in such a way that the proximal end of the second member is adjacent to the second end of the first member and the distal end of the second member is adjacent to the first end of the first member, such that the fabric is passed between the first member and the second member to be secured to the take-up shaft.
- 2. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the second member is a rod.
- 3. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the first member includes a slot, and the second member includes a tab, wherein the tab of the second member connects with the slot of the first member.
- 4. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the first member includes a tab, and the second member includes a slot, wherein the tab of the first member connects with the slot of the second member.
- 5. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the take-up shaft is mounted on a housing by a securing mechanism for preventing the take-up shaft from withdrawing axially through the frame.
- 6. The apparatus of claim 5, wherein the securing mechanism includes a wedge secured to an end of the take-up shaft, wherein engagement of the wedge and the take-up shaft prevent the take-up shaft from withdrawing axially through the frame.
- 7. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein an operator assembly is secured to the first end of the first member the take-up shaft.
- 8. The apparatus of claim 7, wherein the first end of the first member of the take-up shaft includes a cylindrical extension that is secured to the operator assembly.
- 9. The apparatus of claim 8, wherein the operator assembly further comprises:
a brace, an axial rod, a handle and a fastener, such that the brace is attached to the axial rod, fastener and handle, for providing support to the take-up shaft.
- 10. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein a gear assembly is attached to the distal end of the second member of the take-up shaft.
- 11. The apparatus of claim 10, wherein the gear assembly further comprises:
a wedge, a screw plate and a screw such that the wedge and the screw plate are attached to the distal end by the screw.
- 12. An apparatus, for securing a cleaning fabric to a take-up shaft for use in a cylinder cleaning device, comprising:
a take-up shaft, for receiving a fabric, having a first member and a second member, the first member having a planar section, a first end and a second end such that the first end is substantially equal in a size to that of the second end, the second member, having a proximal end and a distal end, such that the first end is substantially equal in a size to that of the second end, wherein the length of the second member is substantially equal to a that of the first member, and such that the second member is disposed over the planar surface of the second member.
- 13. The apparatus of claim 12, wherein the second member is a rod.
- 14. The apparatus of claim 12, wherein both the first member and the second member at are secured to a cloth take-up ring, by their respective ends.
- 15. The apparatus of claim 14, wherein the cloth take-up ring is secured to a gear assembly.
- 16. The apparatus of claim 15, wherein the gear assembly comprises:
a support socket; and a support pin having a support pin cylindrical extension, wherein the support pin is attached to the support socket.
- 17. The apparatus of claim 12, wherein both the first member the second member are both secured to an operator assembly by their respective ends.
- 18. The apparatus of claim 17, wherein the operator assembly further includes a handle.
- 19. The apparatus of claim 17, wherein the first member further includes a rectangular extension that attaches to the operator assembly.
- 20. An apparatus, for securing a cleaning fabric to a take-up shaft for use in a cylinder cleaning device, comprising:
a first member and a second member, the first member having an axial groove, a first end and a second end such that the first end is substantially equal in a size to that of the second end, the second member, having a proximal end and a distal end, such that the proximal end is substantially equal in a size to that of the distal end, wherein the length of the second member is substantially equal to a that of the axial groove of the first member, and such that the second member is disposed over the axial groove of the first member.
- 21. The apparatus of claim 20, wherein the second member is a rod.
- 22. The apparatus of claim 20, wherein the axial groove of the first member is cylindrical.
- 23. The apparatus of claim 22, wherein the fabric is disposed over the axial groove of the first member and under the second member.
- 24. The apparatus of claim 23, wherein the second member has a weight.
- 25. The apparatus of claim 24, wherein the weight of the second member restricts the transverse motion of the second member in the axial groove.
- 26. An apparatus, for securing a roll of cleaning fabric to a take-up shaft for use in a cleaning cylinder device, comprising:
a fabric supply shaft, for supplying the fabric, the shaft having a circumference and at least one projection extending from the circumference, the projection for sliding the roll of cleaning fabric onto the shaft and preventing rotation of the roll when the shaft is rotated, the shaft further including a first end and a second end.
- 27. The apparatus of claim 26, wherein both the first end and the second end of the fabric supply shaft are attached to a housing.
- 28. The apparatus of claim 27, wherein at least one nylon tipped screw is disposed to the fabric supply shaft at one end.
- 29. The apparatus of claim 27, wherein a securing mechanism is disposed to the fabric supply shaft at one end.
- 30. The apparatus of claim 26, wherein at least one projection is a wheel.
- 31. The apparatus of claim 26, wherein at least one projection is a roller.
- 32. An method, of securing a cleaning fabric to a take-up shaft for use in a cylinder cleaning device, comprising:
receiving the fabric to the take-up shaft of the type having a first member and a second member, the first member having a planar section, a first end and a second end such that the first end is larger than the second end, the second member, having a proximal end and a distal end, such that the distal end is larger than the proximal end, wherein the length of the second member is smaller than that of the first member, and the second member is disposed over the first member in such a way that the proximal end of the second member is adjacent to the second end of the first member and the distal end of the second member is adjacent to the first end of the first member; and rotating the second member of the take-up shaft in order to secure the fabric between the first member and the second member.
- 33. The method of claim 32, further comprising:
connecting a tab of the first member to a slot of the second member.
- 34. The method of claim 32, further comprising:
connecting a tab of the second member to a slot of the first member.
- 35. The method of claim 32, further comprising:
mounting the take-up shaft on a frame with a securing mechanism.
- 36. The method of claim 32, further comprising:
rotating an operator assembly that is attached to the first member and the second member of the take-up shaft in order to rotate the second member to receive the fabric.
- 37. A method, of securing a cleaning fabric to a take-up shaft for use in a cylinder cleaning device, comprising:
receiving a fabric in a take-up shaft, having a first member and a second member, the first member having a planar section, a first end and a second end such that the first end is substantially equal in a size to that of the second end, the second member, having a proximal end and a distal end, such that the proximal end is substantially equal in a size to that of the distal end, wherein the length of the second member is substantially equal to a that of the first member, and such that the second member is disposed over the planar surface of the second member; and rotating the second member of the take-up shaft in order to secure the fabric between the first member and the second member.
- 38. The method of claim 37, further comprising:
securing one end of the first member and one end of the second member to a cloth take-up ring.
- 39. The method of claim 37, further comprising:
rotating an operator assembly that is attached to the first member and the second member of the take-up shaft in order to rotate the second member to receive the fabric.
- 40. A method of securing a cleaning fabric to a take-up shaft or use in a cylinder cleaning device, comprising:
receiving a fabric in a take up shaft of the type having a first member and a second member, the first member having an axial groove, a first end and a second end such that the first end is substantially equal in a size to that of the second end, the second member, having a proximal end and a distal end, such that the proximal end is substantially equal in a size to that of the distal end, wherein the length of the second member is substantially equal to a that of the axial groove of the first member, and such that the second member is disposed over the axial groove of the first member; and rotating the second member of the take-up shaft in order to secure the fabric between the first member and the second member.
- 41. A method of securing a cleaning fabric for use in a cylinder cleaning device, comprising:
sliding a roll of fabric onto a fabric supply shaft of the type having a circumference, at least one projection extending from the circumference, the shaft further having a first end and a second end; and rotating the supply shaft wherein the fabric is disposed over at least one projection of the fabric supply shaft for reducing a frictional force during assembly of the roll onto the shaft and for preventing rotation of the roll when the shaft is inserted.
