Claims
- 1. In a tank assembly for use in water treatment comprising a tank having a liner, a head having at least one port of fixed length, a clamping assembly for securing said head to said tank, a seal disposed between said head and said tank, a water line and a connection comprising:
- an insert defining a terminal end of said line, said insert having an annular groove and adapted for insertion into said port located on said head;
- a partially circular and resilient clip having a plurality of tabs extending inwardly, at least two of said tabs being generally L-shaped and having a foot extending circumferentially from said tabs, said port having an outer surface with a plurality of slots for receiving said tabs, said tabs adapted for extending through said slots and being partially disposed within said annular groove, said tab feet adapted for insertion and removal through said slots when said clip is in an outwardly flexed condition, said tab feet extending beyond said slots and preventing removal of said clip when said tabs and tab feet are inserted and said clip is in an unflexed condition.
- 2. The tank assembly of claim 1 further comprising an O-ring seal circumferentially disposed between said insert and said port.
- 3. The tank assembly of claim 1 wherein the liner is one of a blow molded liner and a rotationally molded liner.
- 4. A non-threaded connection comprising:
- a port defining an opening and having a first slot and a second slot, said slots extending from an exterior surface of said port to an interior surface of said port, said slots spaced from said opening;
- an insert insertable through said opening and having at least one groove alignable with said slots;
- a spring clip having a flexible outer portion and a first tab and a second tab, said tabs extending radially inwardly from said outer portion, each of said tabs having a circumferential extension disposed at a radially inward position on said tabs, said spring clip flexibly moveable between a flexed condition and an unflexed condition, said first and second tabs and said circumferential extensions being insertable and retractable through said first and second slots respectively when said spring clip is in said flexed condition, said tabs being positionable in said at least one groove when inserted through said slots and said spring clip returns to said unflexed condition whereby removal of said insert from said opening is inhibited, each of said circumferential extensions positioned at least partially beyond a circumferential limit of a respective one of said slots when said tabs are inserted through said slots and said spring clip is in said unflexed condition whereby retraction of said tabs from said slots is inhibited.
- 5. The non-threaded connection of claim 4 wherein said insert further comprises an annular groove and an O-ring seal disposed within said annular groove whereby said O-ring seal is sealingly engagable with said insert and said interior surface.
- 6. The non-threaded connection of claim 4 wherein said circumferential extensions extend in opposite circumferential directions.
- 7. The non-threaded connection of claim 6 wherein said port further comprises a third slot extending from an exterior surface of said port to an interior surface of said port, said third slot disposed circumferentially between said first and second slots and said spring clip further comprises a third tab extending radially inwardly from said outer portion insertable and retractable through said third slot, said third tab positioned circumferentially between said first and second tabs with each of said circumferential extensions extending circumferentially towards said third tab.
- 8. The non-threaded connection of claim 4 wherein said insert further comprises a threaded portion for engagement with a water line whereby said insert defines a terminal end of said water line.
- 9. The non-threaded connection of claim 8 in combination with a water treatment head wherein said port is disposed on said water treatment head.
- 10. A non-threaded connection comprising:
- a port defining an opening and having a first slot and a second slot, said slots extending from an exterior surface of said port to an interior surface of said port, said slots spaced from said opening;
- an insert insertable through said opening and having an annular groove alignable with said slots;
- a spring clip having a flexible, partially circular outer portion and a first tab and a second tab, said tabs extending radially inwardly from said outer portion, each of said tabs having a circumferential extension disposed at a radially inward position on said tabs, said spring clip flexibly moveable between a flexed condition and an unflexed condition, said first and second tabs and said circumferential extensions being insertable and retractable through said first and second slots respectively when said spring clip is in said flexed condition, said tabs being positionable in said annular groove when inserted through said slots and said spring clip returns to said unflexed condition whereby removal of said insert from said opening is inhibited, each of said circumferential extensions positioned at least partially beyond a circumferential limit of a respective one of said slots when said tabs are inserted through said slots and said spring clip is in said unflexed condition whereby retraction of said tabs from said slots is inhibited.
- 11. The non-threaded connection of claim 10 wherein said insert further comprises a second annular groove and an O-ring seal disposed within said second annular groove whereby said O-ring seal is sealingly engagable with said insert and said interior surface.
- 12. The non-threaded connection of claim 10 wherein said circumferential extensions extend in opposite circumferential directions.
- 13. The non-threaded connection of claim 12 wherein said port further comprises a third slot extending from an exterior surface of said port to an interior surface of said port, said third slot disposed circumferentially between said first and second slots, and said spring clip further comprises a third tab extending radially inwardly from said outer portion insertable and retractable through said third slot, said third tab positioned circumferentially between said first and second tabs with each of said circumferential extensions extending circumferentially towards said third tab.
- 14. The non-threaded connection of claim 10 wherein said insert further comprises a threaded portion for engagement with a water line whereby said insert defines a terminal end of said water line.
- 15. The non-threaded connection of claim 14 in combination with a water treatment head wherein said port is disposed on said water treatment head.
- 16. In a tank assembly for use in water treatment comprising a tank, a water treatment head, a clamping assembly for securing said head to said tank, a seal disposed between said head and said tank, a water line and a connection between said water line and head, said connection comprising:
- a port disposed on said head, said port defining an opening and having a first slot and a second slot, said slots extending from an exterior surface of said port to an interior surface of said port, said slots spaced from said opening;
- an insert defining a terminal end of said water line, said insert insertable through said opening and having at least one groove alignable with said slots;
- a spring clip having a flexible outer portion and a first tab and a second tab, said tabs extending radially inwardly from said outer portion, each of said tabs having a circumferential extension disposed at a radially inward position on said tabs, said spring clip flexibly moveable between a flexed condition and an unflexed condition, said first and second tabs and said circumferential extensions being insertable and retractable through said first and second slots respectively when said spring clip is in said flexed condition, said tabs being positionable in said at least one groove when inserted through said slots and said spring clip returns to said unflexed condition whereby removal of said insert from said opening is inhibited, each of said circumferential extensions positioned at least partially beyond a circumferential limit of a respective one of said slots when said tabs are inserted through said slots and said spring clip is in said unflexed condition whereby retraction of said tabs from said slots is inhibited.
- 17. The non-threaded connection of claim 16 wherein said insert further comprises an annular groove and an O-ring seal disposed within said annular groove whereby said O-ring seal is sealingly engagable with said insert and said interior surface.
- 18. The non-threaded connection of claim 16 wherein said circumferential extensions extend in opposite circumferential directions.
- 19. The non-threaded connection of claim 18 wherein said port further comprises a third slot extending from an exterior surface of said port to an interior surface of said port, said third slot disposed circumferentially between said first and second slots and said spring clip further comprises a third tab extending radially inwardly from said outer portion insertable and retractable through said third slot, said third tab positioned circumferentially between said first and second tabs with each of said circumferential extensions extending circumferentially towards said third tab.
