Claims
- 1. A television broadcasting system comprising:
a communication infrastructure; a gateway station communicating a television signal to said communication infrastructure; a user terminal establishing a plurality of multiple dynamic links corresponding respectively said communication infrastructure; said gateway station generating a plurality of datagrams from said television signal and transmitting the multiple datagrams through said multiple dynamic links; and said user terminal receiving the plurality of datagrams from said infrastructure reassembling the datagrams into the television signal.
- 2. A system as recited in claim 1, wherein said communication infrastructure includes a satellite selected from a group consisting of a LEO satellite, a MEO satellite, or a GEO satellite.
- 3. A system as recited in claim 2, wherein said satellite comprises a first satellite from a first constellation and a second satellite from a second constellation.
- 4. A system as recited in claim 1, wherein said user terminal is mobile.
- 5. A system as recited in claim 1, wherein said multiple dynamic links have independently varying data rates.
- 6. A system as recited in claim 1, wherein said user terminal comprises a router for routing uplink communication portions through said links.
- 7. A system as recited in claim 6, wherein said router circuit receives the communication portions and arranges the communication portions in a predetermined sequence.
- 8. A system as recited in claim 1, wherein said user terminal comprises a multiple beam antenna capable of simultaneously generating the multiple dynamic links.
- 9. A system as recited in claim 1, wherein said user terminal establishes a plurality of forward links and a plurality of return links, wherein said plurality of forward user links is greater than said plurality of return links.
- 10. A system as recited in claim 1, wherein said user terminal comprises a hub and router circuit coupled to a digital beam former for receiving multiple dynamic links through at least two devices comprising the communication infrastructure.
- 11. A system as recited in claim 1, wherein said user terminal comprises a TCP/IP protocol for transmitting the multiple communication portions.
- 12. A system as recited in claim 1, wherein said user terminal comprises:
a plurality of receiving elements; a receiving beam forming network for forming a plurality of receive beams from the plurality of elements; a receiving hub and router circuit coupled to the receiving digital beam forming network for assembling datagrams received by the receive beams from the receive beam forming network; and a receiving direction control circuit coupled to the hub and router circuit and the receiving digital beam forming circuit for estimating relative position vectors for said at least two devices and the user terminal.
- 13. A system as recited in claim 14, wherein said user state vector and said platform state vector are used to generate relative position vectors.
- 14. A television broadcast system comprising:
a first television feed system generating a first television signal; a first gateway station coupled to said first feed system forming a first plurality of datagrams from the first television signal; a communication infrastructure having a first infrastructure portion and a second infrastructure portion; a first communication infrastructure portion receiving communications from said first communications device; a second television feed system generating a second television signal; a second gateway station coupled to said second feed system forming a second plurality of datagrams from the second television signal; said second communication infrastructure portion receiving communications from said second gateway station; and a user terminal receiving said first plurality of datagrams and said second plurality of datagrams.
- 15. A television broadcast system as recited in claim 14, wherein said first communication infrastructure portion comprises a satellite and said second communication infrastructure portion comprises a stratospheric platform.
- 16. A television broadcast system as recited in claim 14, wherein the first television signal comprises a national feed; and said second television signal comprises a local feed.
- 17. A television broadcast system as recited in claim 16, wherein said first communication infrastructure comprises a satellite and said second communication infrastructure comprises a stratospheric platform.
- 18. A method of operating a television broadcasting system comprising:
forming a digital television signal; dividing the television signal into a plurality of datagrams; routing the plurality of datagrams through a plurality of communication links of a communication infrastructure; and reassembling the datagrams into the television signal at a user terminal.
- 19. A method as recited in claim 18, further comprising the step of generating a second plurality of datagrams;
establishing a second plurality of dynamic communication links between a communication station and a user terminal; and reassembling the second plurality of datagrams into the communication at the user terminal.
- 20. A television broadcasting system comprising:
a communication infrastructure including at least two devices from a group including a cell tower, a first satellite constellation, a second satellite constellation and a stratospheric platform; a gateway station communicating a television signal to said communication infrastructure; a user terminal establishing a plurality of multiple dynamic links corresponding respectively said at least two devices from the group; said gateway station generating multiple datagrams from said television signal and transmitting the multiple datagrams through said multiple dynamic links through said at least two devices from said group; and said user terminal receiving the datagrams from said at least two devices from said group and reassembling the communication portions into the communication.
- 21. A method of operating a television broadcasting system comprising:
forming a first digital television signal from a national feed; directing the first television signal to a first communication infrastructure portion; directing the first television signal to a user terminal from the first communication infrastructure; forming a second digital television signal from a local feed; directing the second television signal to a second communication infrastructure portion different from the first communication infrastructure portion; directing the first television signal to a user terminal from the first communication infrastructure; and receiving the first television signal and the second television signal at a user device.
- 22. A method as recited in claim 21 wherein said first infrastructure portion comprises a satellite and said second infrastructure portion comprises a stratospheric platform.
