Claims
- 1. A surveillance system comprising:
a surveillance assembly, including a platform adapted to support surveillance equipment for providing observations of an area in a vicinity of the surveillance system; a base, including a substantially hollow enclosure sized and adapted to contain electronics equipment for controlling the surveillance equipment; a support pole having an upper portion mounted to the surveillance assembly and a lower portion detachably mounted to the base; and means for connecting the surveillance equipment to the electronics equipment contained in the base.
- 2. The system according to claim 1 wherein the base comprises a concrete structure having a weight sufficient to prevent the base from being manually displaced.
- 3. The system according to claim 2 wherein the weight of the concrete structure is at least about 2500 pounds.
- 4. The system according to claim 1 wherein the support pole is substantially hollow.
- 5. The system according to claim 4 wherein the means for functionally connecting the electronics equipment with the surveillance equipment includes wiring disposed at least partially through the substantially hollow support pole.
- 6. The system according to claim 4 wherein the means for functionally connecting the electronics equipment with the surveillance equipment includes PVC conduit adapted to accommodate communications cable through the substantially hollow support pole.
- 7. The system according to claim 1 wherein the support pole comprises a plurality of telescoping segments.
- 8. The system according to claim 1 wherein the surveillance assembly further includes a power distribution box adapted to receive and distribute electrical power from a power source to the surveillance equipment.
- 9. The system according to claim 8 wherein the power distribution box is adapted to be connected to an existing power source.
- 10. The system according to claim 9 further comprising a power supply, connected to the power distribution box, for providing an alternative source of power to the surveillance equipment.
- 11. The system according to claim 10 wherein the power supply is located within the substantially hollow base enclosure.
- 12. The system according to claim 1 further comprising vent means for facilitating passage of air through the system in order to cool the electronic equipment enclosed in the base.
- 13. The system according to claim 12 wherein the vent means is adapted to draw ambient air through the upper portion of the support post and into the base enclosure.
- 14. A surveillance system comprising:
a surveillance assembly, including a platform and surveillance equipment mounted to the platform for providing observations of an area in a vicinity of the surveillance system; a base, including a substantially hollow enclosure sized and adapted to contain electronics equipment for controlling the surveillance equipment and a power supply for powering the electronics equipment; a substantially hollow support pole having an upper portion mounted to the surveillance assembly and a lower portion detachably mounted to the base; and means, disposed through the support pole, for functionally connecting the surveillance equipment to the electronics equipment contained in the base.
- 15. The system according to claim 14 wherein the surveillance equipment comprises a plurality of cameras.
- 16. The system according to claim 14 wherein the surveillance equipment comprises a multiplexor including a plurality of cameras.
- 17. The system according to claim 14 wherein the base comprises a concrete structure having a weight sufficient to prevent the base from being manually displaced.
- 18. The system according to claim 17 wherein the weight of the concrete structure is at least about 2500 pounds.
- 19. The system according to claim 15 wherein the means for functionally connecting the electronics equipment with the surveillance equipment includes PVC conduit adapted to accommodate communications cable through the substantially hollow support pole.
- 20. The system according to claim 14 further comprising a ground fault circuit breaker disposed within the base enclosure adapted to provide electrical power from a power source to the electronics equipment.
