The present invention relates to tennis and, more particularly, to a tennis form training tool.
Even after a tennis player has achieved a basic knowledge of tennis, the player still needs to learn to overcome incorrect form and proper spacing from the ball when hitting a stroke. There currently is no device that helps the player improve their form and spacing.
As can be seen, there is a need for a device that helps a tennis player improve their form and spacing from the ball.
In one aspect of the present invention, a tennis stroke training tool comprises a wrist band having a first end and a second end adapted to be adjustably and detachably secured around a wrist of a player, wherein the first end and the second end have mating fasteners, and an external midpoint of the wrist band has a ring within a fabric loop stitched thereto, the ring carrying a first snap hook; a resilient tether having a first post with an aperture formed therethrough at a distal end and a second post with an aperture formed therethrough at a proximal end, wherein the first snap hook is coupled to the first post; and a waist band having a third end and a fourth end adapted to be adjustably and detachably secured around a waist of the player, wherein the third end and the fourth end have mating fasteners, and a ring within a fabric loop is stitched to an edge of the waist band, the ring carrying a second snap hook, wherein the second snap hook is coupled to the second post.
These and other features, aspects and advantages of the present invention will become better understood with reference to the following drawings, description, and claims.
The following detailed description is of the best currently contemplated modes of carrying out exemplary embodiments of the invention. The description is not to be taken in a limiting sense but is made merely for the purpose of illustrating the general principles of the invention, since the scope of the invention is best defined by the appended claims.
Broadly, one embodiment of the present invention is a tennis form training tool comprising a wristband and a waistband joined by a resilient band that puts the wearer's arm at a distance from the body that promotes better spacing and extension through a tennis stroke. The band allows the wearer to swing through the ball and still have full range of motion. The wrist band and the waist band may be fabric, for example.
The device may be made by connecting a wristband and waistband with a flexible rubber tube/band of a predetermined length operative to keep the wearer's arm from extending a greater distance than a distance determined to improve the player's spacing and extension.
The device may be used by players who already have a basic knowledge of tennis. The wrist and waistband are worn by the player and connected by a rubber tube/band. The player may use the invention simply by wearing it while practicing a tennis swing.
