Claims
- 1. In a belt driven magnetic tape cartridge which includes a housing, a pair of tape rolls rotatable with respect to said housing, and a driven belt bearing against the rolls of tape to move the tape, the improvement comprising:
- a belt guide roller shaft disposed near the path of said belt and having opposite shaft ends with at least one shaft end held by said housing;
- a belt guide roller having a hub portion mounted on said shaft and having a peripheral portion engaged with said belt to guide it; and
- a resilient bowed washer having a hole which receives said shaft, said washer being partially compressed so it applies an axial force against an end of said belt roller, whereby to retard said belt roller to produce tension in said tape.
- 2. In a belt driven magnetic tape cartridge which includes a housing, a pair of tape rolls rotatable with respect to said housing, a belt bearing against the rolls of tape to move the tape, a belt driving roller for driving the belt, and a pair of rotatable belt guiding rollers, the improvement of means for applying drag to at least a first of said belt guiding rollers comprising:
- a resilient bowed washer which lies at an end of said first belt guiding roller and which is partially compressed to apply force against the first belt guiding roller, whereby to apply drag to said first belt roller to produce tension in said tape.
- 3. In a belt driven magnetic tape cartridge which includes a housing, a pair of tape rolls rotatable with respect to said housing, and a driven belt bearing against the rolls of tape to move the tape, the improvement comprising:
- a belt guide roller shaft disposed near the path of said belt and having first and second opposite shaft end portions, with at least said first shaft end portion mounted on said housing;
- a belt guide roller rotatably mounted on said shaft and having a peripheral portion engaged with said belt to guide it; and
- a resilient compressible means disposed along said shaft for applying an axial force against said roller, whereby to retard the roller.
- 4. The improvement described in claim 3 wherein:
- said resilient compressible means comprises a resilient bowed washer which is partially compressed.
