Claims
  • 1. A method for irritation of skin, the method comprising the steps of: a. irritating a portion of skin of a test subject by a first mode comprising contacting the portion of skin with a chemical irritant; andb. irritating the portion of skin by a second mode different from the first mode, wherein the second mode comprises rubbing a test sample substrate on the portion of skin.
  • 2. The method according to claim 1 wherein the method further comprises the step of assessing erythema and/or dryness of the portion of skin after the irritating steps.
  • 3. The method according to claim 1 wherein the chemical irritant is selected from the group consisting of: sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium laureth sulfate and mixtures thereof.
  • 4. The method according to claim 1 wherein the step of irritating a portion of skin of a test subject by a first mode comprising contacting the portion of skin with a chemical irritant comprises occluding the portion of skin.
  • 5. The method according to claim 1 wherein the substrate is a fibrous structure.
  • 6. The method according to claim 5 wherein the fibrous structure comprises a sanitary tissue product.
  • 7. The method according to claim 1, wherein the test sample substrate comprises a lotion.
  • 8. The method according to claim 1 wherein the test sample substrate comprises an additive selected from the group consisting of: chemical softening agents, dyes, colorants, surfactants, absorbents, permanent wet strength agents, temporary wet strength agents, antiviral agents, oils, nanotechnology agents, lotion compositions, skin benefits agents, skin healants, perfumes, especially long lasting and/or enduring perfumes, antibacterial agents, botanical agents, disinfectants, pharmaceutical agents, film formers, deodorants, opacifiers, astringents, solvents, cooling sensate agents such as camphor, thymol and menthol, and preservatives.
  • 9. The method according to claim 8 wherein the chemical softening agent is selected from the group consisting of: silicones, quaternary ammonium compounds, petrolatum, oils and mixtures thereof.
  • 10. The method according to claim 9 wherein the silicones comprise aminosilicones.
  • 11. The method according to claim 8 wherein the substrate comprises an antiviral agent.
