Claims
- 1. A tetraazaporphyrin dye of the formula I, the residue of which is contained as recurring polymerized monomeric units in a polymer, and the polymer has a T.sub.g in the range of about 60.degree.-250.degree. C. ##STR10## where M is a coordinated silicon, germanium or tin atom; Z.sup.1, Z.sup.2, Z.sup.3 and Z.sup.4 individually are one of the following structures: ##STR11## where X is hydrogen, halogen or an aliphatic, alicyclic or aromatic substituent containing 1-12 carbon atoms; R is a divalent aliphatic, alicyclic or aromatic substituent containing between about 2-20 carbon atoms; R.sup.1 is hydrogen or a C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl substituent; and R.sup.2 is an aliphatic, alicyclic or aromatic substituent containing between about 1-20 carbon atoms.
- 2. A tetraazaporphyrin dye in accordance with claim 1 which is contained as recurring monomeric units that are copolymerized with at least one vinyl monomer.
- 3. A tetraazaporphyrin dye in accordance with claim 1 which is contained as recurring monomeric units that are copolymerized with at least one alkyl acrylate, alkyl methacrylate, styrene, .alpha.-alkylstyrene or 4-acyloxystyrene monomer, and wherein the recurring dye monomeric units comprise between about 5-90 mole percent of the copolymer, based on the total moles of monomers.
- 4. A tetraazaporphyrin dye of the formula II, the residue of which is contained as recurring polymerized monomeric units in a polymer, and the polymer has a T.sub.g in the range of about 60.degree.-250.degree. C. ##STR12## where M is a coordinated silicon, germanium or tin atom; Z.sup.1, Z.sup.2, Z.sup.3 and Z.sup.4 individually are one of the following structures: ##STR13## where X is hydrogen, halogen or an aliphatic, alicyclic or aromatic substituent containing 1-12 carbon atoms; R is a divalent aliphatic, alicyclic or aromatic substituent containing between about 2-20 carbon atoms; and R.sup.1 is hydrogen or a C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 substituent.
- 5. A tetraazaporphyrin dye in accordance with claim 4 which is contained as recurring monomeric units that are copolymerized with at least one vinyl monomer.
- 6. A tetraazaporphyrin dye in accordance with claim 4 which is contained as recurring monomeric units that are copolymerized with at least one alkyl acrylate, alkyl methacrylate, styrene, .alpha.-alkylstyrene or 4-acyloxystyrene monomer, and wherein the recurring dye monomeric units comprise between 5-90 mole percent of the copolymer, based on the total moles of monomers.
- 7. A tetraazaporphyrin dye of the formula III, the residue of which is contained as recurring polymerized monomeric units in a polymer, and the polymer has a T.sub.g range of about 60.degree.-250.degree. C. ##STR14## wherein M is a coordinated silicon, germanium or tin atom; Z.sup.1, Z.sup.2, Z.sup.3 and Z.sup.4 individually are one of the following structures: ##STR15## where X is hydrogen, halogen or an aliphatic, alicyclic or aromatic substituent containing 1-12 carbon atoms; R is a divalent aliphatic, alicyclic or aromatic substituent containing between about 2-20 carbon atoms; and R.sup.2 is an aliphatic, alicyclic or aromatic substituent containing between about 1-20 carbon atoms.
- 8. A tetraazaporphyrin dye in accordance with claim 7 which is contained as recurring monomeric units that are copolymerized with at least one vinyl monomer.
- 9. A tetraazaporphyrin dye in accordance with claim 7 which is contained as recurring monomeric units that are copolymerized with at least one alkyl acrylate, alkyl methacrylate, styrene, .alpha.-alkylstyrene or 4-acyloxystyrene monomer, and wherein the recurring dye monomeric units comprise between about 5-90 mole percent of the copolymer, based on the total moles of monomers.
- 10. A tetraazaporphyrin dye of the formula IV, the residue of which is contained as recurring polymerized monomeric units in a polymer, and the polymer has a T.sub.g in the range of about 60.degree.-250.degree. C. ##STR16## where M is a coordinated silicon, germanium or tin atom; Z.sup.1, Z.sup.2, Z.sup.3 and Z.sup.4 individually are one of the following structures: ##STR17## where X is hydrogen, halogen or an aliphatic, alicyclic or aromatic substituent containing 1-12 carbon atoms; and R is a divalent aliphatic, alicyclic or aromatic substituent containing between about 2-20 carbon atoms.
- 11. A tetraazaporphyrin dye in accordance with claim 10 which is contained as recurring monomeric units that are copolymerized with at least one vinyl monomer.
- 12. A tetraazaporphyrin dye in accordance with claim 10 which is contained as recurring monomeric units that are copolymerized with at least one alkyl acrylate, alkyl methacrylate, styrene, .alpha.-alkylstyrene or 4-acyloxystyrene monomer, and wherein the recurring dye monomeric units comprise between about 5-90 mole percent of the copolymer, based on the total moles of monomers.
- 13. A copolymer which is characterized by recurring monomeric units corresponding to the formula: ##STR18## where m.sup.1 and m.sup.2 are integers which total at least 10, and the m.sup.1 monomer comprises between about 10-50 mole percent of the total m.sup.1 +m.sup.2 monomeric units; R' is hydrogen or a C.sub.1 -C.sub.10 hydrocarbon substituent; R" is hydrogen or a C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkoxyl or C.sub.6 -C.sub.12 aromatic substituent; M is a coordinated silicon, germanium or tin atom; Z.sup.1, Z.sup.2, Z.sup.3 and Z.sup.4 individually are one of the following structures: ##STR19## where X is hydrogen, halogen or an aliphatic, alicyclic or aromatic substituent containing 1-12 carbon atoms; R is a divalent aliphatic, alicyclic or aromatic substituent containing between 2-20 carbon atoms; and R.sup.2 is an aliphatic, alicyclic or aromatic substituent containing between about 1-20 carbon atoms.
