Claims
- 1. A textile material comprising yarns wherein the material is textured by subjecting specified regions of the material to incremental strains sufficient to cause yarn failures in yarns running in one direction within the specified regions.
- 2. The textile material of claim 1 wherein yarns in a direction orthogonal to the direction of the failed yarns have substantially unaltered physical properties.
- 3. The textile material of claim 1 wherein the yarns in a direction orthogonal to the direction of the failed yarns are redistributed within the specified regions.
- 4. The textile material of claim 1 wherein the yarn failures are in the fill direction.
- 5. The textile material of claim 4 wherein the yarns in the warp direction have substantially unaltered physical properties and are redistributed within the specified regions.
- 6. The textile material of claim 1 wherein the yarns in the warp and fill directions are different colors.
- 7. A textile material comprising yarns wherein the material is textured by subjecting specified regions of the material to incremental strains sufficient to cause permanent elongation of yarns running in one direction within the specified regions.
- 8. The textile material of claim 7 wherein yarns in a direction orthogonal to the direction of the elongated yarns have substantially unaltered physical properties.
- 9. The textile material of claim 7 wherein the yarns in a direction orthogonal to the direction of the elongated yarns are redistributed within the specified regions.
- 10. The textile material of claim 7 wherein the elongated yarns are in the fill direction.
- 11. The textile material of claim 10 wherein the yarns in the warp direction have substantially unaltered physical properties and are redistributed within the specified regions.
- 12. The textile material of claim 7 wherein the yarns in the warp and fill directions are different colors.
- 13. A method of manufacturing a textured material containing yarns comprising the step of subjecting specified regions of the material to incremental strains sufficient to cause discrete yarn failures or elongation of yarns in yarns running in one direction within the specified region.
- 14. A method of manufacturing a textured material containing yarns comprising the step of subjecting specified regions of the material to incremental strains sufficient to cause discrete yarn elongation of yarns in one direction and redistribution of yarns in the opposite direction.
- 15. A method of manufacturing a textured material containing yarns comprising the steps of:
a) providing a base textile material, b) providing an incremental stretching means, and c) subjecting the base textile material to incremental strains by the incremental stretching means causing a strain sufficient to cause yarn failure or permanent elongation in specified regions of the textile material.
- 16. The method of manufacturing a textured material according to claim 15 wherein the incremental strains comprises feeding the base textile material through a pair of intermeshing toothed rolls.
