Claims
- 1. A liquid crystal display device comprising:
a pixel electrode and a thin film transistor, said thin film transistor including:
a semiconductor layer having a channel region, wherein said semiconductor layer has a stepped configuration, a source and a drain electrode electrically connected to said semiconductor layer, wherein said source electrode is formed over said semiconductor layer and has a stepped configuration substantially conforming with the stepped configuration of said semiconductor layer, wherein said source electrode includes a first conductive film and a second conductive film superposed with said first conductive film at least in a portion where said source electrode covers an edge portion of said semiconductor layer created by the stepped configuration of the semiconductor layer, wherein said pixel electrode is connected to said source electrode in a portion where said first conductive film is not superposed with said second conductive film.
- 2. A liquid crystal display device according to claim 1, wherein the first conductive film and the second conductive film are both formed over the stepped configuration of the semiconductor layer and both include a stepped configuration substantially conforming with the stepped configuration of the semiconductor layer.
- 3. A liquid crystal display device comprising:
a pixel electrode and a thin film transistor, said thin film transistor including:
a semiconductor layer having a channel region, wherein said semiconductor layer has a stepped configuration, a source and a drain electrode electrically connected to said semiconductor layer, wherein said source electrode is formed over said semiconductor layer and has a stepped configuration substantially conforming with the stepped configuration of said semiconductor layer, wherein said source electrode includes a first conductive film and a second conductive film superposed with said first conductive film at least in a portion where said source electrode covers an edge portion of said semiconductor layer created by the stepped configuration of the semiconductor layer, wherein the first conductive film extends beyond an edge of the second conductive film and wherein the pixel electrode is connected to said source electrode at a portion wherein the first conductive film extends beyond the edge of the second conductive film.
- 4. A liquid crystal display device according to claim 1, wherein the pixel electrode is also connected to the source electrode in a portion where the first conductive film is superposed with the second conductive film, such that the pixel electrode also includes a stepped configuration substantially conforming with the stepped configuration of the semiconductor layer.
- 5. A liquid crystal display device according to claim 3, wherein the pixel electrode is also connected to the source electrode in a portion where the first conductive film is superposed with the second conductive film, such that the pixel electrode also includes a stepped configuration substantially conforming with the stepped configuration of the semiconductor layer.
- 6. A liquid crystal display device comprising:
a pixel electrode and a thin film transistor, said thin film transistor including:
a semiconductor layer having a channel region, wherein said semiconductor layer has a stepped configuration, a source and a drain electrode electrically connected to said semiconductor layer, wherein said source electrode is formed over said semiconductor layer and has a stepped configuration located above the stepped configuration of said semiconductor layer, wherein said source electrode includes a first conductive film and a second conductive film superposed with said first conductive film at least in a portion where said source electrode covers an edge portion of said semiconductor layer created by the stepped configuration of the semiconductor layer, wherein said pixel electrode is connected to said source electrode in a portion where said first conductive film is not superposed with said second conductive film.
- 7. A liquid crystal display device according to claim 6, wherein the first conductive film and the second conductive film are both formed over the stepped configuration of the semiconductor layer and both include a stepped configuration located above the stepped configuration of the semiconductor layer.
- 8. A liquid crystal display device comprising:
a pixel electrode and a thin film transistor, said thin film transistor including:
a semiconductor layer having a channel region, wherein said semiconductor layer has a stepped configuration, a source and a drain electrode electrically connected to said semiconductor layer, wherein said source electrode is formed over said semiconductor layer and has a stepped configuration located above the stepped configuration of said semiconductor layer, wherein said source electrode includes a first conductive film and a second conductive film superposed with said first conductive film at least in a portion where said source electrode covers an edge portion of said semiconductor layer created by the stepped configuration of the semiconductor layer, wherein the first conductive film extends beyond an edge of the second conductive film and wherein the pixel electrode is connected to said source electrode at a portion wherein the first conductive film extends beyond the edge of the second conductive film.
- 9. A liquid crystal display device according to claim 6, wherein the pixel electrode is also connected to the source electrode in a portion where the first conductive film is superposed with the second conductive film, such that the pixel electrode also includes a stepped configuration located above the stepped configuration of the semiconductor layer.
- 10. A liquid crystal display device according to claim 8, wherein the pixel electrode is also connected to the source electrode in a portion where the first conductive film is superposed with the second conductive film, such that the pixel electrode also includes a stepped configuration located above the stepped configuration of the semiconductor layer.
