Claims
- 1. A composition having bradycardia and isoproterenol antagonistic activity comprising a small but bradycardially and isoproterenol antagonistically effective amount of at least one active compound selected from the group consisting of a racemate of 1-phenoxy-2-hydroxy-3-tert.-butylamino propane of the formula ##STR5## wherein R is --(CH.sub.2).sub.x --NH.sub.2, where x is an integer from 0 to 3, R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are halogen, its optically active isomer and the non-toxic, pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salt of said racemate and said optically active isomer and a major amount of a pharmaceutical carrier.
- 2. A composition of claim 1 wherein the amount of active ingredient is 1 to 300 mg.
- 3. A composition of claim 1 wherein R.sub.1 is hydrogen.
- 4. A composition of claim 1 wherein X is 0.
- 5. A composition of claim 1 wherein the active compound is 1-(2,4-dichloro-3-aminophenoxy)-2-hydroxy--tert.-butylamino propane and its non-toxic, pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salt.
- 6. A method of producing bradycardia and suppressing tachycardiac effects of N-isopropyl-noradrenaline in warm-blooded animals which comprises administering to warm-blooded animals a safe and effective amount of at least one compound selected from the group consisting of a racemate of 1-phenoxy-3-hydroxy-3-tert.-butylamino propane of the formula ##STR6## wherein R is --(CH.sub.2).sub.x --NH.sub.2, where x is an integer from 0 to 3, R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are halogen its optically active isomer and the non-toxic, pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salt of said racemate and said optically active isomer.
- 7. The method of claim 6 wherein X is 0.
- 8. The method of claim 6 wherein the compound is 1-(2,4-dichloro-3-aminophenoxy)-2-hydroxy-3-tert.-butylamino propane and its non-toxic, pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salt.
