The present invention relates to a therapeutic shoulder wrap that is used to aid in the healing of a user's shoulder.
Many individuals suffer orthopedic injuries on a yearly basis. Orthopedic injuries include injuries to the knees, hips, ankles, elbows and other joints of the body. Many times the injuries involve swelling and pain. As a result patients must go through various types of strategies to reduce swelling and inflammation related to those injuries. This strategy normally includes both the administration of medicine and application of topical treatment over the affected area. One common method to reduce inflammation and swelling involves the application of a cold compress. The cold compress may come in various forms in the form of an ice bag, frozen pads and other means to keep a cooling effect over the affected area. Some individuals freeze bottles of water or actually use frozen food material such as frozen bags of vegetables over a particular area. One area of application that is difficult to apply a steady cooling compress is the shoulder area. Due to the shape of the shoulder and the general inconvenience it can be difficult to apply an ice pack over the shoulder for an extended period of time. Therefore it would be advantageous to have a wrap, which is designed to particularly apply a cold compress to the shoulder area of a user.
The present invention relates to a shoulder wrap for therapeutic use that includes: a shoulder cover; a first wrap extending from the shoulder cover; and then a second wrap extending from the shoulder cover. A first receptacle and a second receptacle reside within the shoulder cover adapted to receive a first cooling element and a second cooling element, respectively. Preferably, a sleeve extends from the shoulder cover adapted to receive a user's arm. In one particular embodiment, the cooling element may be a frozen water bottle. Other features of the shoulder wrap include a first strap and a second strap adapted to further secure the shoulder wrap around a user's shoulder area, wherein hook and loop fasteners are used to secure the shoulder straps into a secure position.
The present invention relates to a shoulder wrap that wraps securely around an individual's shoulder to apply a cold compress treatment onto the shoulder area. The shoulder wrap according to the present invention includes a main portion that covers the shoulder that includes receptacles to receive cooling elements. The cooling elements are placed within the receptacles and then the shoulder wrap is placed over the shoulder of the user. Wraps extending from each side of the cover wrap around the torso of the user to secure the shoulder cover into place. Another feature of the shoulder wrap in accordance with the present invention is a sleeve that extends from the cover that allows the user to place their arm there through placing the shoulder wrap in a secure position over the user's shoulder. In addition to the wraps that extend around the torso include straps that may be implemented to further secure the shoulder wrap into place over a user's shoulder.
