Claims
- 1. A thermal image transfer recording medium comprising a support material and a thermal image transfer layer formed thereon adapted for use in a thermal image transfer recording method, wherein both a shearing strength and a peeling strength of said thermal image transfer layer measured at 70.degree. C. are smaller than a take-up tension applied to said thermal image transfer recording medium, when used in a method comprising the steps of (1) holding (a) said thermal image transfer recording medium and (b) an image recording material between a line edge thermal head and a platen roller; (2) driving said platen roller and transferring said thermal image transfer layer image-wise from said thermal image transfer recording medium to said image recording material with image-wise application of heat by use of said line edge thermal head: and (3) applying take-up tension to take up said thermal image transfer recording medium after said image transfer.
- 2. A thermal image transfer medium according to claim 1, wherein said take-up tension applied to the medium is at least 40 g/cm.
- 3. A thermal image transfer recording apparatus adapted for use in a thermal image transfer recording method, comprising a line edge thermal head, a platen roller for holding a thermal transfer recording medium and a recording material in collaboration with said thermal head, and means for applying tension to take up said thermal image transfer recording medium after said image transfer, wherein a force applied by said tension means is larger than both the shearing strength and peeling strength of said thermal image transfer layer measured at 70.degree. C., said method comprising the steps of applying heat to a thermal image transfer recording medium which comprises a support material and a thermal image transfer layer formed thereon, and transferring said thermal image transfer layer image-wise from said thermal image transfer recording medium to an image recording material and taking up said thermal image transfer recording medium after said image transfer.
- 4. An apparatus according to claim 3 wherein contact pressure applied between said thermal head and said platen roller is in the range of 50 to 250 g/cm.sup.2.
