Claims
- 1. A high temperature food preparation film comprising:a blended monolayer thermoplastic elastomer film comprising: about 80 weight percent, based on the total weight of said blended monolayer thermoplastic elastomer film, of thermoplastic elastomer block copolymers; and about 20 weight percent, based on the total weight of said blended monolayer thermoplastic elastomer film, of non-elastic polyesters; wherein said high temperature food preparation occurs at from about 212 degrees Fahrenheit to about 400 degrees Fahrenheit; said blended monolayer thermoplastic elastomer film not substantially adhering to food during said high temperature food preparation; said blended monolayer thermoplastic elastomer film providing a water vapor barrier having a transmission coefficient of about 17 gms/100 in2/day, and an oxygen barrier coefficient of about 62 cc-mil/100 in2/day.
- 2. The high temperature food preparation blended monolayer thermoplastic film of claim 1, wherein said film has a tensile yield strength of from about 389 psi to about 3432 psi, a tensile yield elongation of from about 23 percent to about 26.9 percent, a tensile break strength of from about 8718 psi to about 10053 psi, and a graves tear value of from about 481 gms-force/mil to about 494 gms-force/mil.
- 3. A high temperature food preparation film comprising:a blended monolayer thermoplastic elastomer film comprising: from about 40 to about 60 weight percent, based on the total weight of said blended monolayer thermoplastic film, of thermoplastic elastomer block copolymers; and from about 40 to about 60 weight percent, based on the total weight of said blended monolayer thermoplastic film, of non-elastic polyesters; wherein said high temperature food preparation occurs at from about 212 degrees Fahrenheit to about 400 degrees Fahrenheit; said blended monolayer thermoplastic elastomer film not substantially adhering to food during said high temperature food preparation; said blended monolayer thermoplastic elastomer film providing water vapor barrier having a transmission coefficient of less than about 20 gms/100 in2/day, and an oxygen barrier coefficient of less than about 100 cc-mil/100 in2/day.
- 4. The high temperature food preparation film of claim 3, wherein said blended monolayer thermoplastic elastomer film has a tensile yield strength of at least 2900 pounds per square inch.
- 5. The high temperature food preparation film of claim 3, wherein said blended monolayer thermoplastic elastomer film comprises a sufficient amount of non-elastic polyesters such that said blended monolayer thermoplastic film is ultrasonically fusable to form a star seal.
- 6. The high temperature food preparation film of claim 3, wherein said thermoplastic elastomer block copolymers are selected from a group consisting of polyester-ester block copolymers, polyether-ester block copolymers, or combinations thereof.
- 7. The high temperature food preparation film of claim 3, wherein said non-elastic polyester is a reaction product of a carboxylic acid and a diol.
- 8. The high temperature food preparation film of claim 3, wherein the non-elastic polyester is polybutylene terepthalate.
- 9. The high temperature food preparation film of claim 3, wherein said blended monolayer thermoplastic elastomer film comprises about 50 weight percent of non-elastic polyesters and about 50 weight percent of thermoplastic elastomer block copolymers, based on the total weight of said blended monolayer thermoplastic elastomer film.
- 10. A high temperature food preparation film comprising:a multi-layered thermoplastic elastomer film comprising: a first layer comprising from about 40 to about 60 weight percent, based on the total weight of said multi-layered thermoplastic elastomer film, of thermoplastic elastomer block copolymers; and a second layer comprising from about 40 to about 60 weight percent, based on the total weight of said multi-layered thermoplastic elastomer film, of non-elastic polyesters; wherein said high temperature food preparation occurs at from about 212 degrees Fahrenheit to about 400 degrees Fahrenheit; said multi-layered thermoplastic elastomer film not substantially adhering to food during said high temperature food preparation; said multi-layered thermoplastic elastomer film providing a water vapor barrier having a transmission coefficient of less than about 20 gms/100 in2/day, and an oxygen barrier coefficient of less than about 100 cc-mil/100 in2/day.
- 11. The high temperature food preparation film of claim 10, wherein said multi-layer thermoplastic elastomer film has a tensile yield strength of at least 4000 pounds per square inch.
- 12. The high temperature food preparation film of claim 10, wherein said thermoplastic elastomer block copolymers are selected from a group consisting of polyester-ester block copolymers, polyether-ester block copolymers, or combinations thereof.
- 13. The high temperature food preparation film of claim 10, wherein said non-elastic polyester is the reaction product of a carboxylic acid and a diol.
- 14. The high temperature food preparation film of claim 10, wherein the non-elastic polyester is polybutylene terepthalate.
- 15. The high temperature food preparation film of claim 10, wherein said film comprises about 50 weight percent of non-elastic polyesters and about 50 weight percent of thermoplastic elastomer block copolymers, based on the total weight of said multi-layer thermoplastic elastomer film.
- 16. The high temperature food preparation film of claim 10, wherein said first layer comprises an interior film layer and said second layer comprises an exterior film layer.
- 17. The high temperature food preparation film of claim 10, wherein said first layer has a film thickness from about 0.0001 to about 0.01 inches and said second layer has a film thickness from about 0.0001 to about 0.01 inches.
- 18. The high temperature food preparation film of claim 10, further comprising at least one additional layer comprising thermoplastic elastomer block copolymers, or non-elastic polyesters.
- 19. The high temperature food preparation film of claim 10, wherein said multi-layered thermoplastic elastomer films are fabricated by:co-extruding said first and second layers; extruding the first and second layers separately, disposing the second layer on the first layer, and forming the multi-layered film by rolling the first layer and second layer between a heated roller; or by disposing the first layer and the second layer between an interleaving adhesive layer.
- 20. A high temperature food preparation bag comprising:a sealed end sealed by a star seal comprising an ultrasonic seal or heat seal formed in a wad of thermoplastic elastomer film; at least one side wall extending away from said sealed end, each of said at least one side wall having a distal edge; and an open end defined by said distal edge; said bag formed from a thermoplastic elastomer film comprising: from about 40 to about 60 weight percent, based on the total weight of said thermoplastic elastomer film, of thermoplastic elastomer block copolymers; and from about 40 to about 60 weight percent, based on the total weight of said thermoplastic elastomer film, of non-elastic polyesters; wherein said high temperature food preparation occurs at from about 212 degrees Fahrenheit to about 400 degrees Fahrenheit; said thermoplastic elastomer film not substantially adhering to food during said high temperature food preparation; said thermoplastic elastomer film providing a water vapor barrier having a transmission coefficient of less than about 20 gms/100 in2/day, and an oxygen barrier coefficient of less than about 100 cc-mil/100 in2/day.
- 21. The high temperature food preparation bag of claim 20, wherein said thermoplastic elastomer film comprises a blended monolayer thermoplastic elastomer film.
- 22. The high temperature food preparation bag of claim 21, wherein said blended monolayer thermoplastic elastomer film has a tensile yield strength of at least 2900 pounds per square inch.
- 23. The high temperature food preparation bag of claim 20, wherein said thermoplastic elastomer film comprises a multi-layered thermoplastic elastomer film comprising:a first layer comprising said thermoplastic elastomer block copolymers; and a second layer comprising said non-elastic polyesters.
- 24. The high temperature food preparation bag claim 23, wherein said multi-layered thermoplastic elastomer film has a tensile yield strength of at least 4000 pounds per square inch.
- 25. The high temperature food preparation bag of claim 23 wherein said first layer comprises an interior film layer and said second layer comprises an exterior layer.
- 26. The high temperature food preparation bag of claim 23 wherein said first layer has a film thickness from about 0.0001 to about 0.01 inches and said second layer has a film thickness from about 0.0001 to about 0.01 inches.
- 27. The high temperature food preparation bag of claim 23 wherein said multi-layered thermoplastic elastomer film further comprises at least one additional layer comprising thermoplastic elastomer block copolymers or non-elastic polyesters.
- 28. The high temperature food preparation bag of claim 20, wherein said thermoplastic elastomer block copolymers are selected from a group consisting of polyester-ester block copolymers, polyether-ester block copolymers, or combinations thereof.
- 29. The high temperature food preparation bag of claim 20 wherein said non-elastic polyester is the reaction product of a carboxylic acid and diol.
- 30. The high temperature food preparation bag of claim 20 wherein the non-elastic polyester is polybutylene terepthalate.
- 31. The high temperature food preparation bag of claim 20, wherein said multi-layered thermoplastic elastomer film comprises about 50 weight percent of non-elastic polyesters and about 50 weight percent of thermoplastic elastomer block copolymers, based on the total weight of said multi-layered thermoplastic elastomer film.
- 32. A high temperature food preparation film comprising:a blended monolayer thermoplastic film comprising: about 60 weight percent, based on the total weight of said blended monolayer thermoplastic elastomer film, of thermoplastic elastomer block copolymers; and about 40 weight percent, based on the total weight of said blended monolayer thermoplastic elastomer film, of non-elastic polyesters; wherein said high temperature food preparation occurs at from about 212 degrees Fahrenheit to about 400 degrees Fahrenheit; said blended monolayer thermoplastic elastomer film not substantially adhering to food during said high temperature food preparation; said blended monolayer thermoplastic elastomer film providing a water vapor barrier having a transmission coefficient of about 10 gms/100 in2/day, and an oxygen barrier coefficient of about 34 cc-mil/100 in2/day.
- 33. The high temperature food preparation film of claim 32, wherein said blended monolayer thermoplastic elastomer film has a tensile yield strength of from about 3848 psi to about 3874 psi, a tensile yield elongation of from about 15.5 percent to about 22.5 percent, a tensile break strength of from about 9423 psi to about 9570 psi, and a graves tear value of from about 523 gms-force/mil to about 562 gms-force/mil.
- 34. A high temperature food preparation film of claim 3, wherein the blended monolayer thermoplastic elastomer film is fabricated using blown film extrusion techniques.
- 35. A high temperature food preparation film of claim 1, wherein the blended monolayer thermoplastic elastomer film is fabricated using blown film extrusion techniques.
- 36. A high temperature food preparation film of claim 32, wherein the blended monolayer thermoplastic elastomer film is fabricated using blown film extrusion techniques.
- 37. The high temperature food preparation film of claim 3, wherein said blended monolayer thermoplastic elastomer film has a tensile yield strength of from about 3848 psi to about 3874 psi, a tensile yield elongation of from about 15.5 percent to about 22.5 percent, a tensile break strength of from about 9423 psi to about 9570 psi, and graves tear value of from about 523 gms-force/mil to about 562 gms-force/mil.
- 38. The high temperature food preparation multi-layered thermoplastic film of claim 10 wherein said multi-layered thermoplastic elastomer film has a tensile yield strength of from about 5183 psi to about 5566 psi, a tensile yield elongation of from about 5.1 percent to about 5.6 percent, a tensile break strength of from about 6624 psi to about 9496 psi, and a graves tear value of from about 560 gms-force/mil to about 728 gms-force/mil.
- 39. The high temperature food preparation film of claim 21, wherein said blended thermoplastic elastomer film has a heat seal strength from about 6.13 lbs-force/inch to about 6.89 lbs-force/inch.
- 40. The high temperature food preparation film of claim 23, wherein said multi-layer thermoplastic elastomer film has a heat seal strength from about 8.23 lbs-force/inch to about 8.58 lbs-force/inch.
- 41. The high temperature food preparation film of claim 3, wherein food products in contact with said blended monolayer thermoplastic elastomer film during said high temperature food preparation are not damaged due to adherence of said blended monolayer thermoplastic elastomer film to said food product during said high temperature food preparation.
- 42. The high temperature food preparation film of claim 10, wherein food products in contact with said multi-layered thermoplastic elastomer film during said high temperature food preparation are not damaged due to adherence of said multi-layered thermoplastic elastomer film to said food product during said high temperature food preparation.
- 43. The high temperature food preparation bag of claim 20, wherein food products in contact with said thermoplastic elastomer film during said high temperature food preparation are not damaged due to adherence of said thermoplastic elastomer film to said food product during said high temperature food preparation.
