Claims
- 1. A thermoresponsive coloring formulation, comprising the mixture of:a color changing dye selected from the group consisting of a mononitrospirobenzopyran, a dinitrospirobenzopyran, a mononitrospironaphthopyran, and a dinitrospironaphthopyran; and a polymer containing a nitro group that activates said color changing dye upon exposure to heat, wherein said, formulation is thermoresponsive and reversibly changes colors.
- 2. The coloring formulation of claim 1, wherein said polymer that activates said color changing dye is selected from the group consisting of cellulose mononitrate, cellulose dinitrate, and cellulose trinitrate.
- 3. The coloring formulation of claim 1, further comprising:a solvent.
- 4. The coloring formulation of claim 3, wherein said solvent is an alcohol having from 3 to 6 carbon atoms.
- 5. The coloring formulation of claim 4, wherein said alcohol is n-propyl alcohol or isopropyl alcohol.
- 6. The coloring formulation of claim 2, wherein said solvent is an alkyl acetate having from 2 to 7 carbons.
- 7. The coloring formulation of claim 6, wherein said alkyl acetate is ethyl acetate or n-propyl acetate.
- 8. The coloring formulation of claim 2, wherein said solvent is about a 50/50 mixture by volume of an alcohol and an acetate.
